You don't need demos for verification. You never did.
Yeah, I don't necessarily mean verification for here, but I've had people ask me for the demos of my other run (when they worked).
Also, I did give them my demos from the last run, and thats how they determined how much of a penalty I took for segmentation. They said that I cut some of the videos together too abruptly when comparing them to how long the demos lasted.
Id prefer to use demos, because its just a world easier for me. If I have to gimp the time of the run because of it, then so be it. If they removed something like ABH or being able to out OoB completely, then I would have to opt to use the old version. Not being able to move, makes it tricker for me to do, but also makes it more interesting.
I went through some of the levels yesterday using the OoB methods I had established, and made modifications to those routes to account for this issue. In half of the cases, I didn't even have to change the route, while the other half, I only needed on average 1 extra portal as a work-around. Actually, in the one case, it was beneficial to be able to literally sit still in the air, which, I should actually be exploring ways that I can use this to my advantage. Its usefulness comes into play when you OoB at the top edge of a room, because you end up outside on the side of a wall, which means you can shoot a portal somewhere, and then shoot one into the wall, and get back to portaling everywhere else.
I might start putting videos up of my modified routes, so keep watch for that.
Awesome work! I can't believe I didn't think of that for Chamber 16. That should be quickest, hopefully. The escape 02 route seems to be a bit tricky, so I think I should keep trying to find a quicker route for that level.
I started working on my OoB speedrun. Its going to be segmented PER MAP as opposed to all the segmenting I did for the last run. The only maps that will have a segment in them are the ones where I use the save glitch, namely Chamber 02-03, and 04-05. I put up a video of Chamber 00-01, so please check it out:
Uhm, what's the point of one segment per level for all levels other than the ones with the save glitch? Your run will fall under the segmented category anyway and you will get beaten quite easily (and really soon probably).

Because I don't need more than 1 segment to do a level with OoB glitches. They are fairly simple to do, so its not as much as a problem, compared to the actual gameplay of my old speedrun. I'm sure you know, also, that you get deducted .5 seconds per extra segmentation, that isn't a level change. So, I'll save quite a bit of time just from that too.

I highly doubt that. The efficiency of these levels will be to the point where it basically is segmented. I just have to replay them more. Notice how that first segment took me 5.5 hours to do. I'm going to try to make the best run possible for this time around. The only thing I can tell from my first segment that could have been faster would possibly be some of the ABH's, and going into the portals a few frames earlier, which is almost a negligible amount of time; possibly 1 second could have been saved, but I'd gain that 1 second back for segmenting.
You don't get any penalty from autosaves (even if, you could add the extra segment to the mix and end up 0.5s faster anyway). Also yeah, another second could be shaven off your segment, you read my mind. Also 5.5h isn't much ::).

Oh, you made me remember why I didn't want to use autosaves. The autosaves are in very awkward places, and when you load, you lose all of your ABH speed or anything else you had going. By not using autosaves, I don't lose that speed and the final product is faster and more fluid.
the actual 13 minute run is full of good tricks the runner however is a kiddie toying around in the lift while waiting, i dont like people that are clowning around like this i think he is on drugs or something ... its annoying
edit: doesnt the "out of bounds" rule work on this run? or do they have updated this rule? because in the run he is clearly in the "void"
I'd rather watch Cloverfield 20 times in a row with my eyes taped open then watch that run again, it was good but anyone who has watched it knows what im talking about
