I assumed that because you can't record demos on console.

I assumed you posted that implying the trick isn't possible on PC

Not sure if anyone noticed, but in sp_a3_jump_intro you can portal through the field at the end of the first section. It'd be faster to do that and jump down to a portalable surface than to go through and up the stairs.

I've also uploaded the demos to all my YouTube videos here.
If we were you, we would quit now.

Posting because DemonStrate commented on YouTube about PC and console being different for this trick

Just so everyone knows, I deciphered how this trick works. I was able to reproduce it 100% of the time... at 1/5 game speed. Basically, it isn't anything special or a new glitch. All you are doing it hitting the edge of the sphere as you are being flung forward, which causes you to change direction. It is the same as bouncing off the edges of anything in any other instance. I have multiple demos recording how exactly to do it. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to save time on the level, because the time it takes you to do the whole thing with the first sphere, is almost exactly the same amount of time it takes the first sphere to bounce through the portal and fall onto the button.

Arrrrrrg, It's becoming so hard to catch up with all the developments. We need some organization. Smiley
So here's a re-portaling route for sp_a3_speed_ramp however there is a portal shot that may be able to save a bit of time but I don't think it's possible.

This video shows the re-portal route and the shot that I'm talking about.

If we can get on this ledge here, it's possible. You can make the shot from this ledge.

I've started work on my map by map notes/run through. You can watch @ http://www.livestream.com/bkbroadcasting
I've been trying to find something new and intuitive but you guys always throw up stuff that's better. Damn you guys are fast. >.<

The only other way I can see to make that shot Kingpin's looking at is to jump to where I'm standing in this screenshot from where my portal is on the ground.

Also, does anyone else want an IRC channel?
eh I'd rather keep it on the forum personally. easier that way to stay caught up with all the new finds... plus keeps everything both public and documented.
Adzicents: To reach the area in your screenshot you can do it by lifting the jump ramp and using the speed gel to land on the grill to the right of it. Then you can awkwardly walk around to reach the point you noted. Its not fast, but it works. Hey, its something right? ^.^ I did it fast using the bunnyhop method to lift the ramp. But thats as far as I got.

Edit: And you can shuffle along the ledge awkwardly. Smiley Landing the grills a pain in the ass though.

I thought of that too, but I figured it's slower grabbing the cube and doing it that way than the current methods we have to complete both halves of the map.
Hmmm, actually if you can get on that ledge early, you skip pretty much everything. I think it may actually be quicker than doing both, probably close though.
Oh, @ adzicents, if you can make the shot from that position, that will be ridiculously fast. Let me just begin trying again.

Here is a route for sp_a2_laser_chaining I figured out. I think the last jump could be done in a nother way. Also my first post on the forums.

edit: The sound got corrupted somehow so I removed it.
King Laskdjf
I saw that video before you removed it, I don't know why I didn't think to jump through with the cube and let go in mid-air... The last cube can be skipped using the technique in my video. I don't remember who found it first though, it's not in coolkid's list, but it's somewhere in this topic.

It's possible that I've missed something the pile of all the videos we have made, just give me a shout if you see something missing (haven't updated it for this page).

By the way, I just created a irc channel for us, #portal located at the sda server.
Amazing finds all around, wish i could help more (although im stuck with a laptop for the holidays).

I stumbled on the third cube skip, but my execution was terrible, some really smooth recordings all around.
For completions sake here's me appyling someone's skip (from this thread) for an earlier room (had to be done this way because the walls still change when you first enter the chamber).

The reportal boost and the tower jump skip are simply fantastic, can someone write up the how-to's for those two and the various versions of the funnel gravity trick (and/or put them in the OP)? Minor note, the list in the OP is also missing the video links.

tower jump skip

.. which one was that again? I've read the whole topic, kept me up very late last night after actually playing the game all day, just can't remember. So much wicked stuff already.

I'm playing on 360 with a xim3 (keyboard/mouse adapter) but it's almost easier to use a controller. Strafing is a whore. What actual differences are there in the way the game works that've been noticed?

(First post, hey.)

Sorry, no idea if it has a proper name, but it's initiated by jumping inside the huge elevator tower:

Oh that huge strafe. Yeah, that's wicked. It's a pain trying a lot of these, 'cos on 360 you can't just load a map up or noclip back to try. Gonna see if I can try and grab a copy on PC.

Sliding down the panels on the left side at the bottom and then hitting the sloped floor below them can generate significant speed. If you can maintain the speed you SHOULD be able to "slide up" to the walk way, rather than have to Portal...Not that that would be much faster than the video.
Nice find bandit!
Signboard of Hyrule
Bouncing off of repusion gel on a wall while traveling upward sends you more ... upward.  This could reach higher places or just give one a higher hight from which to fall.

Here's an example (seen on reddit) for sp_a3_bomb_flings to go OOB and get atop the room (not a speed trick for this room):
