Any version of Tetris Attack OWNS YOUR SOUL.
Ya, Tetris Attack is freakin awesome. I used to rent it like fifty times from block buster. I won a denom jacket, w/ a tetris attack emblem on the back, because i rented it and won. then i bought it.

Ok, yesterday I did about half the game. I'm currently at the Pokemon tower in about 1:26. I should be done by next weekend.

After a long break, I retried the Yellow run.

Right now, like Cygnus, I'm at the Pokémon Tower.  My time is 1:37.  That is with a couple of mistakes I've noted.  One is the fact that catching Sandshrew and Spearow took 2 minutes to catch.  The second mistake is the fact that I forgot to purchase a couple drinks so I can pass through Saffron City.  Whoops.

On the other hand, this is a vast improvement from my last run.  I am about 55 minutes faster, but this lacks Erika's badge.  I also am writing down the locations of important items for the walkthrough.
Restarted the Yellow run, because I concluded that missing the drinks would cost too much time.  Right now, I am outside the Cinnabar Island PC at 2:20, ready to get the Secret Key.

Using Pokemon Stadium's Dodrio Mode makes this really fast, but it's prone to a lot of errors.

I also made another mistake.  It turns out that Charmander can replace Sandshrew, since it can learn Dig, Cut, and Strength.  That eliminates a random factor out, though I still need a pokemon who can use Fly and that I can catch easily.

For the record, the fastest time I finished the introduction by ending at the Pokemon Mart after the delivery is 6 minutes.  How long is it for Red/Blue to reach the Pokemon Mart for purchasing items?
The Rare Candy list earlier in the topic is accurate for the most part.  I left the Mt. Moon one alone, because I hate the random battles there.  I did get the one in the S.S. Anne, though it's actually the fourth door down from the left, not the third.

I also picked up some additional items that would help.

1) Max Ether in boulder outside Rock Tunnel's Exit.
2) PP Up in bottom right potted plant in Game Corner B1.
3) First visible item in Pokemon Tower 4F is an Elixir.
4) Elixir in right potted plant in Silph Co. 5F
Finished!  Turns out I could streamline my purchases, saving some time.  Looks like I'll need 10 X-Accuracy and 10 X-Speed for the best results.  I also changed Nidoking's final moveset; basically exchanging Body Slam for Ice Beam (vs. Aerodactyl).  As with the first run, I got lucky against Gary, whose Alakazam used Kinesis instead of Psychic, where it promptly ate an Earthquake.  Enough chatter, here's the times.

Before Elite Four - 2:40
Before Lance - 2:46
After Lance - 2:49
After Gary - 2:52

Final Time - 2:54
Nidoking's Level - 62
If charizard can learn fly... now you just have to evolve charmander in a timely fashion Wink

Done!!! Final time is... 2:42, after the credits. I plan to redo this run sometime and get about 2:30, cause it's possible. I'll upload this run to Radix as soon as I can, but since my internet is always down, I might have to send it in on some CD's.

Before I redo my run, I'm going to work on a Pokemon Silver run. I'll be doing some practice run thoughs in the next few days to see if it's possible to beat the game under 7 hours. I think it is, but I'll have to see for sure. I'm going to start with Totodile, but if you think one of the other two pokemon are better to use, tell me why.
Also tenkiforecast
I'm not to sure about G/S/C. a lot of the new poke's are really bad... but good luck anyway!

Totodile and Cyndiquil might be your best bets. Bakufuun *Typhlosion* can learn Thunderpunch, which would be useful. I think it would have to be more than one poke total though... getting Rugia/Ho-oh as soon as possible could work. If you went with Ho-oh, it would obviously have to be gold, but you probably would have to start with Totodile. hm... *thinks*
Good job Cygnus!  I'm pleased to see that the two versions aren't that far apart, despite the differences.
.
Damn, I wouldn't expect 2:42.

A GSC run might work, but I seriously doubt a run for RSE or FRLG would work well (natures and stuff is annoying).
I love FuSN 1G - SG1!
Nice times, everyone.

You know, I did say third from the right.  Tongue
Do you know the Muffin Man?
3:12 is the best I can get with my Kadabra run Sad
(My conclusion after two runs)

The biggest problem is the need for experience as I really do need Kadabra at around 65 or more in order to finish Lorelei and Lance's pokemon in less than four turns. There are less OHKOs than I expected, I suppose that comes from not leveling up as much as I do when I'm just mucking around :p
what did cygnus use? blastoise/zapdos?
Ben Goldberg
Ya, that's what I used.
.
There is the luck in getting good DV's.
I have a friend who is running through Gold as fast as he can.  He suggests using Cyndaquil, as Totodile has a difficult time getting past the second Rival battle (Razor Leaf > Croconaw).
Ben Goldberg
That's what I'm doing. I'm just finished the light tower and am ready to go to that island for that medicine in about 1:40.  I can get this time way down, since this is my first practice attempt. One thing I can tell you is that Gold and Silver are much harder to run than RBY.
one question about the gold run...

how do u plan on beating red (or blue, i mean the guy in the cave) with so low lvls, or do u just plan on lvling up like crazy, and then just hope to get lucky when you get there and are only like 10ish lvls low?
He's only going to the Elite Four.  No Kanto.

Well, that's not really beating it then, is it? How do you go half-way through a game and say "Aah, I'm done"?
