Quote from Mouldy Cheese:
The run is up guys, thanks again.

http://speeddemosarchive.com/PokemonRubySapphire.html

Hopefully someone will be able to point out a new time saver or 2 after watching it so i can attempt an improvment run, i dont think ive reached my limit yet XD

Mouldy Out xxx

I mentioned this in the verification but didn't get a response. Could you have saved a little time moving your max repel to the top of your inventory once you bought it? You had to go down your inventory a few times to get to them. It's only a few seconds, but those add up.
I thought this might come in handy for an emerald run, there are few differences in the games. @ neskamikaze - i didnt think of that thankyou Tongue i might be able to do that with some other items aswell.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys XD. For those of you how are interested i really want to do an improvement run as i think i can still save a few minutes off my time so every little bit helps. I also want to do a SS and ive got all the planning down but im about to complete my hsc so give me 3 months and ill be all over this shit XD

Anyway thanks again guys for all the support and im glad you all liek mudkips Tongue

Oh and i didnt see your post on the verification thread till just now, hence no reply haha
Too cool for 7th grade.
Is FractalFusion's run with Machoke at all possible? That's the only thing I can think of that'll make the run faster besides fixing the very tiny mistakes you made, which would probably only save a minute or two.
Sure its possible but Fractal Fusion's run using machop was only like 2 minutes faster than his run with mudkip and a lot harder to execute, so yes its possible but not worth it as it would be nigh impossible and require more segments Tongue also i think cutting down on segments would save time but i dont really have any to cut down on because all the battles are so hard haha
Wow, it has been a while since I posted here.

Your run is very impressive. Now I see why it's almost a half hour faster than mine. You take a lot of risks by dodging the rotating trainers while I wait for they to turn. If I would zoom past them, they would definately turn and see me.
Rare Candy manipulation is something I don't have the patience to do. It's already hard enough manipulating the battles and I do that without relying on critical hits.
I loved your battle with Norman. I would use Bide too, but the opponent will usually use a none damaging move on men making Bide useless.
I also would have no patience to wait for Quick Claw to activate. I use it in my Platinum run, but I don't count on it to work.

Congraluations on such a awesome run.
Thanks aggron, you'd be surprised but rare candy manipulation is really easy 1/100 the segments that required candies i got the day i tried it so they arent too hard. Crits are very annoying but QC isnt too bad. Haha i love Norman aswell, got the idea from Ultimate Darius to use bide, i only just killed his last slaking that battle took me a while but its the highlight of the run :P.
Hey guys long time since anybody has been on here, the SS now has a due date of 31th of December so i guess ill try push that one out after my hsc (3 weeks to go). I was wondering if anybody know what the odds are of catching kyogre with a pokeball on the 1st turn as soon as it is encountered? it would mean i dont have to get the masterball but knowing the odds of catching it would make it easier for me.
Fucking Weeaboo
Pretty much every legendary has a catch rate of 3, meaning that if you use a regular pokeball while it's at full health, you have a 0.3% chance of catching it.  Luckily for you (maybe), Kyogre has a catch rate of 5, bumping it up to 0.7%.  (Groudon has the same chance, BTW.)

Thanks for the reply, damn thats gonna take a while to catch a GOOD Kyogre haha just gotta figure out what the minimum stats i need are to beat the E4 are. Thanks, not getting the masterball saves 41 seconds Cheesy

If the difference between a good Kyogre and an average one is really important you can segment just before and look for a decent one using the RNG code.
The RNG has been broken some time ago but I am not sure if it was for Emerald only or if it applied to ruby/sapphire too.

Emerald's RNG is broken because the seed is always the same. I don't think it applies to R/S.
I shall be segmenting before it, but yes its emeralds RNG that is broken, not sapphires Sad
Just thought id post it that i have started another segmented run of sapphire, im currently trying to get a good mudkip. My goal is to get <1:50 ill post any progress but it is basically an improvement on my 1:54:21 run. So far im 5 seconds faster haha.
1-Up!
Good luck.

OH GOD the segment w/ Kyogre is going to take SUCH a long time w/ that strat lol. SAVE RIGHT AFTER YOU FINALLY SUCCEED, DON'T JUST KEEP GOING TO GYM 8! (i forget whether you did that in your previous run.) good luck, and by the way, same route in general?
Yeah im kinda worrying about the Kyogre segment as it will take a while haha so im going to have to settle for a sub par kyogre and hopefully a +2 crit shockwave is enough to take out walrein. Generally yes it will be the same route but ive got a list of changes to make to the run. The biggest being no masterball so that saves 41 seconds, other things such as a few battle changes and overall better execution and segmenting. Ill be taking it 1 segment at a time so i dont know how many segments there will be but id say about 48 as so far i have cut 1 haha. I figured out if i can save 5 seconds per segment then ill reach my goal of <1:50. Hopefully ill be able to do it XD

Yeah, basically this. In my Pokemon XD 100% WIP I ended up doing a pretty annoying boss fight and not saving afterwards, immediately doing around 10 minutes of overworld stuff afterwards, and I messed up, so I had to start all the way back from the beginning of that fight.

Second time around though I got amazingly lucky which was great, then I saved pretty much right after.

And Mouldy Cheese I'm rooting for you. With proper segmentation and manipulating luck you can make a truly great sapphire run.
Yeah i know what u mean, during my published run the kyogre i used was like the 4th one i was planning on using but i kept stuffing up the stuff afterwards forcing me to reset, this time i think ill just save, even though it will cost me a second or 2 as ill have to re-enter the menu at the start of the next segment Tongue
Hi I am new here to the forum and I was thinkIng there is a sapphire speedrun but not a ruby. It would be greatly appricated if you guys could help, thanks!
Let the music play!
What exactly do you want help with? Doing the run yourself?

1-Up!
Bluekoopa, if you're requesting that we run a game, we have a thread for that: Request Thread.

Please don't take up space in the planning section of the forum requesting runs.  If your call for help is because YOU want to make a Ruby run, then please use the existing Ruby/Sapphire topic.

Actually, I'm just going to merge this thread in with that one.  If you are requesting then it will just get buried under the discussion and if you do want help then that's the right place for it anyway.

edit: merge feature not working atm.
TBH there is no point in doing a ruby run, it will use Mudkip and will be the exact same up till catching the legendary except a bit slower because of SE messages against all the numels. Groudon sweeps the E4 just not as easily as Kyogre so it might be say 5-10 minutes slower all up, some slight detours might need to be taken to get groudon some better attacks to deal with the E4 but not much will survive a STAB EQ off a 150 Base Attack...
What about using zangoose in ruby, it is fast exp category 600,000 to level 100 vs. The 1,250,000 exp for mudkip. It can learn swords dance and facade as a stab, shadow ball, or something like that, but it is a physical in gba. So it is good for Liz and Tate. And it can learn brick break later I think. Plus it has high attack and speed stats.
super mario is amazing
mudkip is way faster for gym 4, rock tomb would make it better for gym 6, surf would make gym 7 one turn LOL, if you can get brick break before gym 8, that could work, but it might be faster to have swampert learn it anyway if that's possible. zangoose DOES have 5 higher base attack than pert, and probably a lot higher than marshtomp lol. The main advantage would be against steven and sidney. overall, IDK if it would work, but crit manipulation would be easy w/ slash.
Well it does level up much easier/faster so it will should have higher stats on things for gym 6,7,8 and possibly 5.
