Back in the game!
What the fuck?  We were discussing Heart Gold and Soul Silver's saving times last night.  I don't know where you mistook that for Sapphire.

On that note, my timing did not start until I was able to select the save option in the menu until I regained control of my menu, and it was about 15 seconds, give or take one.
Oh lol i thought we were talking about sapphire, doesnt matter. XD
I've started to put my Ruby run on Youtube. There is the same lag as in Ascetic Swordsman incomplete Sapphire testrun. He also used VBA for that run, right? What's the best video editing program to fix the lag by for example manually letting the audio become in sync with the footage?
I didn't use an emulator for my run.  I used the gameboy player and a gamecube.  The audio lag was from the poor DVD recorder I had.  I've gotten a better one with a HDD since then.

Excuse me for that, it was a similar style of lag. I hope I can fix my problem soon with a good video editing program.

EDIT: I have found a good program that can fix the lag. The only problem is that I have to convert my WMV files to AVI again. This is also easely solved with a converter and by this evening, I'll have replaced all the segments I have already uploaded with lag. Tomorrow I'll upload new segments on Youtube.
Run got accepted, Thanks guys XD XD XD
If you're looking to measure the time it takes to save, how about this:

- Find a save file and wait for the timer to advance; save
- Load the save file
- Save immediately
- Reset
- Repeat until the timer has advanced several minutes
- Divide number of minutes by number of times saved

Of course, it will take slightly less time to save if your cursor starts closer to "Save" on the menu when you end a segment.
For anyone who's interested, I have already posted the final segment of my Ruby speed run on Youtube quite a while ago. It's not as good as Mouldy Cheese's accepted run, but it's still nice enough to watch. You can find it on my Youtube channel. The link is shown in my signature.
Is the bonus disk Jirachi considered a trade for this? Because you can get it as soon as you get the Dex and it comes with Wish and Confusion at level 5. (Unless you level it up past level 10 before beating Brawly, which causes an obedience problem.)

For whatever the game's concerned, you just Save & Quit inside a Pokémon Centre and next time one restarts there will be a Fateful Encounter Jirachi within the party.

I'm not sure what the ruling would be, but I would think of it along the lines of New Game +, as it is using something not available in the game to start with.
I would think that the bonus disk Jirachi would be the trainers Jirachi (YOU would be the OT of the poke) meaning obedience isnt an issue, sounds feasable, could be quite fast.
Yo, Mouldy, I checked every post you made, and I couldn't find your route for your run anywhere.  Could you please tell me what it was?
:O are you maybe interested in challenging my run? :O haha, my run SHOULD be up on the site pretty soon (its taking its time) so you can see it there, or do u want me to post it anyway? If so, how detailed do u want it?
I don't want to challenge it.  I'm considering writing walkthroughs for Pokemon games, and many others, so I always like to watch speed runs to see how many of their strategies are applicable.

So yeah, fairly detailed if you are willing.
Ok well here is a generalish run through of my run.

Throughout this run 1 optional trainer is battled and 1 wild pokemon is battled.

-go upstairs and set your clock, go next door and talk to rival, go north and get mudkip, go north and battle rival, back to the professor to get pokedex and 5 pokeballs from rival, head north to oldale town, catch a zigzagoon on the way, head west out of oldale.

-fight the forced battle with the trainer with a single zigzagoon, go to petalburg gym and catch a ralts for wally, go to petalburg woods and fight the team aqua/magma dude, get the quick claw from the school in rustboro, enter gym battle 2nd trainer (optional) to get mudkip to level 10 and learn watergun, beat roxanne, go to rustboro tunnell.

-using zizgagoon's ability manipulate a rare candy off the grunt, using the ability again kill a wild pokemon to get a 2nd rare candy. back through rustboro and petalburg woods and enter my brineys house, take his boat to deford, catch abra in granite cave and deliver letter to steven, go to gym and beat the trainer getting to level 14, use the 2 rare candies and evolve to beat brawly.

-take the boat to slateport enter capt sterns building talk to the guy in there, go to the museum talk to stern battle grunts, head north battle rival, head north to mauvile. get rock smash, get bike, enter/exit pokecenter, battle wally, beat gym, head north. continue north through fiery path then west through all the ash then south to meteor falls.

- exit meteor falls and teleport back to mauvile, head north and take the cable car up to the top of the volcano. battle and beat team aqua/magma, use zigzagoons ability to get a rare candy off a grunt, sacrifice abra and zigzagoon against the leader, go south through to lavaridge enter the gym, while fighting flannery get poisoned and finishe the battle with as few hp as possible. walk a few steps and get teleported back to mauvile.

-head west back through granite cave and get strength, head back through rustboro toward petalburg and catch a tailow, enter petalburg gym and beat it. go next door and get surf of wally's parents, surf south and get rare candy, teleport back to mauvile, surf east and then head north to weather institute, beat the instute and get castform, head east and battle rival, head north to foretree, enter/exit pokecenter head east.

-meet up with steven and get devon scope continue south then east to enter/exit lillycove and then head south to mt pyre. beat mt pyre and get the rare candy on top of the mountain, teleport back to foretree. enert gym and use 3 rare candies to evolve and beat winona, fly to slateport and go to the submarine place. fly to lillycove and enter aqua/magma hideout, beat hideout getting masterball in the process. surf east to mossdeep, get dive from steven beat gym.

-surf south and dive to kyogre/groudon lair, beat aqua/magma and set kyogre/groudon free. surf north then west to sootopolis and enter, enter the cave of origin and catch kyogre, enter gym beat wallace, fly to mossdeep, surf south then east to evergrade, get through victory road, beat E4, beat steven, WIN.

Some parts could be made easier like not deathwarping out of flannery's gym and the getting the desert rare candy instead of deathwarping and then manipulating the candy, but this is the route i used more or less. XD
I see.  Did you care about what Nature and DVs your Mudkip had?
A lonely nature would be best as to utilise the low defence to abuse bide against Norman. This is the spread i will have during my next run 21/14/10/11/10/10 and gender doesnt matter. My stats for the run were a bit worse than that, the most important stat is attack. Anything else you would like to know?
But was it vital to your run in anyway is what I want to know.
Yes very vital. If your writing a speed walk through then you should just tell them the route to take, if your writing one for speedrunning then you should just post a link to this topic, if its just a speed walkthrough then the iv's nature etc dont really matter because they wont be going for a time hence they can fight optional trainers and be at higher levels so rare candy manipulation and the like arent needed.
The run is up guys, thanks again.

Hopefully someone will be able to point out a new time saver or 2 after watching it so i can attempt an improvment run, i dont think ive reached my limit yet XD

Mouldy Out xxx
There's a word for that
Awesome sauce.

Haha I cant wait to say the same to your when you finish XD
Let the music play!
Just watched the Sapphire run, very well done. I'll definitely be using this to aid in Emerald, I've kinda been putting it off for a while in favour of other projects, but I'll get back to it soon.
Everybody DANCE!
Just finished watching the run.  That was pretty damn epic.
