It's harder than Myst, but easier than Riven.  It's a lot like the origonal Myst as they just drop you in various parts of the game and they leave you there to figure out what to do next.  I don't think solving it in one sitting is a possibility, but my friend tends to think that it was a little short.  I suppsoe it could have been longer, but it doesn't get my favorite game ever award withut beeing worth it.
Two more I'd like to add to my list(it wasn't very long to begin with)
are:Grandia II and Skies of Arcadia.
So mostly RPG's because its where story counts.
Gameplay was real good two.
But two things that pissed me off about Grandia II were when you spend the majority of the game building up one of the charecters only to watch them die towards the end,and the other is how insanely easy the final boss was. I had more trouble with the friggin Eye of Valmar.

Nintendo didn't invent analog sticks, but they did implement them at the precise moment when they were needed. This was the same point in time when companies like Sony were trying to make 3D games work with a rehashed SNES controller. If not for Nintendo, eventually someone else would have stumbled upon the usefulness of an analog stick in 3D games... but they were the ones to actually do it.

Don't downplay Nintendo's influence. They come up with a lot of radical ideas, and an amazingly large percentage of those ideas stick.

As for Spyro... brightly colored? Large head? Tiny wings? Yep, he's cutesy.

I hear the Xbox360 does not have pressure sensitive buttons, aside from the triggers. The Xbox did. So, after trying them out, Microsoft doesn't think they're important. And Microsoft is the king of adding extra features to whatever they can get ahold of, usefulness be dammed.

I agree with you, more or less.

Nintendo has revolutionized gaming. Were it not for the Game Boy or Nes/Snes, we wouldn't be for shit where we are with games nowadays.

Well, the last thing I want to do is start a console war, but I think you're shortchanging Sega, Atari, and others a little on the NES/SNES. Game Boy I agree with though.

You're in luck with the upcoming Grandia 3!

The hype and expectation for this game is very low after Grandia 2 and Extreme. If you haven't seen yet, 3 feels more like 1. Honestly, the characters, story, graphics, music, and so forth, seem rather generic to me, leading to the poor import reviews. (You must remember that importers are the kind of people who talk in otaku loanwords, refuse to watch dubbed anime, and actually like Xenosaga.) Basically, it feels like what would happen if Game Arts was bought by SE and exposed to Square's mechanized game creation library/process. Because that's what happened.

On the flip side, Holystar has said that this is his 2nd favorite battle system of all time, and that it is quite challenging. This fixes Grandia's long-standing problem, in that they had the best traditional RPG battle system around, yet their games were too easy to fully explore them. Or were utter ass like Extreme. I'll overlook the potential blah of the non-battle aspects for that. At least it's got that Square polish I guess, although that doesn't mean what it used to, with everyone else catching up.
Say no more. You're confusing me.
Actually, what I really want to ask is:So what is your opinion of Grandia 3 then? Are you for it or against it. I wanna hope its good.

Look at my sig. Wink Think about how many games I have listed in my sig. Also, reread what I said about the import reviewers.

I expect 3 will be my favorite in the series. I don't expect the plot will be as good as the 2nd, but nothing about the game looks bad, only generic at times. Of course, I only base my opinions on taking a quick look at some stuff on Holystar's site. You can form your own opinions that way, but I wouldn't recommend clicking on anything blatantly spoiler-y like "Ending." It's good for getting a vibe because seeing real game footage is better than media clips or import reviews. It made me not want Rogue Galaxy (Level 5's new game) anymore, most recently.

I forgot to mention: this game will have that Game Arts charm going for it, which is a big plus in my book. Honestly, I would play the game just because the battle system is so good, even if the rest of it utterly sucked. And thankfully, that doesn't seem to be the case. Basically, it's a Game Arts game with Square production values and yummy difficulty. Sounds good to me. It might not be tri-Ace but who else is?
Rock on, Earthbound. Rock on.
Speaking of all this RPG jargon, and somewhat on topic, a friend of mine recently picked up Wild Arms: Alter Code F for PS2, which for those of you that don't know, is a remake of Wild Arms which was on PSX.  In a way, I'm getting to play this one again for the first time.  I never got too far in the original to begin with, and this one has new stuff laced through it as well.

I love the game, even if the character interaction and scripting is a little weak, if for nothing other than the sheer cool factor of running around in a wild west inspired RPG pegging goblins and demons with a shotgun.  Also, I love the music, and even though the characters don't always have the best script, they're still very cool.

Now all I need is a copy of Earthbound to play through again and I'll be a happy camper.

well I just saw an advertisement in a magazine for Grandia 3 and I want it.Thats right, simply based on that.
Fact:Thats exactly how I pick my RPG's,no foolin'. And 95.8% of the time I'm right(according to me). Hey,thats how I ended up with games like Grandia II and the Lunar remake.(but with Quest 64 I lost that gamble).
Talk to the Hand
Mine would probably be an obscure hockey game for SNES called Hit the Ice. Very exaggerrated, 2-on-2 (Or was it 3-on-3?) style game. My brother and I found it at a Funcoland a few years back, eagerly bought it...and discovered it really wasn't as fun as we remembered it being at its time of release.

Wild Arms 3 was especially neat in that regard. If you haven't played it, and you like WA music, you probably won't be able to get all the damn whistling out of your head for months. I won't be playing the remake but good luck I guess. You know WA4 is coming out? I'm still behind on my game playing, but maybe I'll get around to it one day.

We must make sure to say the word "Earthbound" enough so that Nintendo gets the idea with Mother 3.

Yeah...but I never played part 1. Back in those days I was broke. Bought part 2 with money I got by selling a sound blaster. Ahh...the old days...

You were able to get money selling a SB? My original one is probably still rotting in some cabinet somewhere. At the time I replaced it, I doubt I would have been able to even get $5 for it at a yard sale...
It was practically new. And it wasn't mine it was my uncle's he said I could do it. Besides...sometimes you need the right chum...p. Grin

Yeah, my girlfriend got Wild Arms 3 last christmas Earthbound, but she didn't seem too sold on it Earthbound.  To my knowledge, she still hasn't Earthbound picked it up again since when she started while I was over which is a cryin' Earthbound shame if you Earthbound ask me.  Come on...  A Shaman with a Shotgun Earthbound!  How cool can Earthbound you get?

Earthbound yes, I know the fourth one is coming out soon, Earthbound and I hope to give that one a try as well.  Knowing my friend Earthbound, he'll likely have it within a month or so of Earthbound release.

Earthbound
