Otherwise, has anyone claimed doing 100% Great Cave Offensive in Kirby Super Star? Using oxwas's route right now I can get ~30 mins on it.

I don't know, I'm just trying to feel less useless Undecided

KSS so far seems to be 1p Spring Breeze (me), and then co-op for the rest (I can't think of how to make Spring Breeze efficiently faster co-op without abusing the randomizer). Gourmet Race (1p, duh) and Arena (co-op, presumably) can be added in via donation. I think the current plan is for me to have a set partner for the games and doing any%, but enough people have expressed interest in being a co-op partner that having a different one per game or perhaps even having separate groups of people running each game is a possibility.

I'll discuss it with the other KSS doods in the IRC and have your name in the pool of players. I'm assuming if you've run GCO, you can become familiar with running other stuff in KSS. Practicing with others to get the strats down for co-op runs via ZSNES netplay will be helpful, so having a messenger to contact you on to set that up would be cool.
Is PJ
If SMK doesn't want to run some of the things in KSS, I could co-op with you, romscout.  I have a lot of experience with all of the minigames in this one, so it'd be fine.  I do play around an awful lot as 2P though...so it might not be great for speed.  Add me to the pool if nobody else is up for something.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Chrono Cross full game: In terms of popularity Trigger >>>>>>>>> Cross. Period.

Idkbutlike2: Since we'll be having more long games than RPGs, the late night hours won't be exclusively RPGS. I asked Carcinogen about having RE games during the late night shift, and he said it was okay with him (as long as if he had Rane as a cheat sheet :P).

ShinerCCC: Out of all of those games, Faxanadu is the most likely one to make the cut, and that's only because it's the shortest. We're already

Axel Ryman: If you're coming, should I re-add Kingdom Hearts 2 to the list?

Arrow: It'll be nice to have the Dynamite Headdy master at our marathon, even if we can't fit that game into the schedule. :-/ I'll go over your list of games.

Mario Galaxy 1 or 2: Great! If you prefer 2 then go for it. Just be sure to give me a time estimate when you start getting a feel for how long the run will be.

Katamari Damacy and We <3 Katamari: Katamari Damacy should definitely be in, and We <3 Katamari is a good addition too, but if we get pressed for time

Mega Man 5: No, this is one of the more disliked Mega Man games.

Mega Man 9: This would be a good idea. If I had a choice between 9 and 10, I would definitely go with this game.

TJ&E 2: Sorry, but I can't see this game being in the marathon if it's an hour and a half. This game has cult popularity, at best.

Pokemon Red/Blue: I think the marathon could stand a Pokemon game, depending on the circumstances. I don't think it can take up more than 3 hours though, if that's possible.

Essentia: About FFX, I think so, but we'll have to see when the game list is starting to come together.

Contacting lolo26 and GarlandG: Could someone more involved with FF speedrunning contact these guys? I guess I could contact them, but I would feel a bit awkward.

Certainly. Cheesy Hopefully Spikevegeta will share with me the new timesavers he figured out(And get his ass posting in the game thread so I can use it for a new SS). Am I still on for DMC3? We could use that for donations on whether I play as Dante or Vergil, and the forced fighting parts would make for some good entertainment.
Everything's better with Magitek

I'd definitely be willing to do Dynamite Headdy, the only reason I didn't mention it was because I figured it was less popular. On the plus side, it can be completed in less than an hour. I figured MM5 wouldn't make the cut, but just thought I'd throw it out there since it wasn't used last year (and strangely enough, it's actually my personal favorite MM).

Estimates for Mario Galaxy 2 hover between 4 and 4.5 hours right now, but I'll be able to give you a more definite answer once I start doing my own practice runs (I'm really hoping to get it under 4). And as I said, I'm also willing to do Mario Galaxy 1 if no one else volunteers (and we have time for it).
Haters gonna hate
Super early, tentative, and safe as hell estimate of 2 hours real time (a little different from game time) for Devil May Cry.  This'll likely come down closer to time to like 1:45, but as of now I know definitively I can bring it in at around 2 hours.

Okay, here's KSS as of now:

Spring Breeze - 1p, romscout
Dyna Blade - 2p, romscout + Chaddical (roles undecided)
Great Cave Offensive - 2p, MercuryZelda (#1) + romscout (#2)
Revenge of Metaknight - 2p, romscout + SMK (roles undecided)
Milky Way Wishes - 2p, UltraJMan (#1) + romscout (#2)

Extra modes that can draw donations to be played:
Gourmet Race - 1p, romscout as of now (unless someone is consistently faster?)
Arena - 2p, romscout + JMan

PJ is a reserve if anyone suddenly drops from the marathon or the particular run

Uyama voluntarily dropped from Team KSS today to make planning easier, so that's why he's not on the list. PJ chose to be the alternate/backup, so I'll go over any runs I need to with him right before the marathon. The reason I gave Mercury GCO is because she's the least familiar with KSS of the potential runners (as far as I'm aware) and doing GCO as player 1 is probably the quickest/easiest task to learn. MWW and the Arena was given to JMan because he's the guy who's had the most experience playing this game co-op with me and MWW is imo the hardest any% run in terms of strats/precision, so familiarity with each other's gameplay is a more essential element than usual. The other two games had the co-op partners chosen kinda randomly, though it should be noted that RoMK will likely be a harder run than DB.

If anyone on Team KSS has an issue with their assignment or wants to be in multiple runs (meaning I have to drop from one), let me know (probably best to do so via PM or on irc/messenger). Also let me know if you are someone who previously contacted me about being a KSS partner for the marathon and I didn't include you in the list.
It's time for some HEErooooOOOOHi cs!
I have a guesstimation time for Metroid. 16:20 or so is what I'm aiming for to beat the record, but taking bad missile luck into account I'm gonna say bump the time up to 20:00 or a bit longer. I've spent upwards of 5 mins in a room hoping for missiles before so hopefully the luck pans out.

Also, this is still a huge maybe cause of how ungodly scary a single segment of the game is, but if anyone wants Paper Mario at the marathon I'm still working on it and can get around halfway through now without too much issue. Still gotta see if the latter half is possible. I'd say mark it as a maybe for now with an estimate of 4:00:00 to 4:10:00 potentially.

The best thing that Dynamite Headdy (and Treasure games in general) is for people to see them, so any positive showing of Dynamite Headdy would increase it's popularity, even though it's "strange" (though not as strange as the Japanese version)

Cool see Metal Gear is on list in this year. Its never are here already. Who might play that if im not come? 35 minutes limit is really easy though.

Thats look Frezyman is not coming. He did awesome job last time. Fucking crazy man got beat Contra sub 11 minutes his 1st attempt. And also his SMB 3 run was really amazing he avoid all hands he are maybe most lucky person what i ever see.
I survived MIKE-Fest 1
I frezy was so lucky he only had to farm for missiles in Metroid for like ... 25 min  Grin

really a loose that he can't come  Cry
Hey, so I was just wondering, if I do end up doing a run of pokémon for the marathon, what would be the preference for Red vs Blue vs Yellow versions, and also for a glitch heavy run vs a more clean run?

Basically it amounts to:
- Clean run on RB allows me to milk Squirtle to the max, wheras Yellow requires me to find and train something better than Pikachu.
- Glitch runs on RB vs. Yellow would have some early-game route differences, but otherwise would take roughly as long; maybe 1/2 hour - 1 hour faster than non-glitch (no good time estimates yet, though the time variation would probably be more in the clean run). The main reason for doing Yellow in this instance would be to avoid it being a carbon-copy of the current run.
I'm thinking RB, and do the glitchy run.
gamelogs.org
i think glitchy would be best because everyone knows pokemon pretty well. would be cool for people to see all this crap done to the game they didn't know was possible. rby doesn't matter as much to me.
Everybody's favorite monster
Dont know if this is the right place to post this but here it goes. I assume every runner is bringing his/her own system/game.
If thats not the case maybe im able to bring some system/games. Im just thinking out loud here. Its not like i have every system/game out there
but i just might have somehting that is needed for the marathon. So just let me know and maybe i can help you out. Even if this is not going to work out im just doing my best to help and support the marathon and its runners.

PS: Since ive never been to America before, how tight is the security at the airport? I assume its pretty tight especially since the 9/11 disaster.
Just want to prepare myself the best way possible.

My feelings on The Demon Rush
Housing Situation: I'm looking into a vacation home right now, but there's a very real concern that's coming up. We already have 30+ people in the definitely coming list, and about 5-10 more in the possibly coming list, and it's only July. I'm either going to have to do one of two things:

1. Cap the count somewhere, probably around 45-50 (which might be too high). Sucks, I know, but a house can only fit so many people, even with sleeping bags and tiny people like spineshark.

2. Look into one of the universities in the area (there are a lot, at least 6 or 7) and see if we can use their dorms/apartments for housing. If we go with this option, then we won't have to worry about fast internet. Cheesy Personally, I'm liking this option because it means we won't have to limit the number of people who want to come. The only concern is that I don't know how expensive it will be.

Dynamite Headdy: I love this game, but like you said Arrow, it's not really popular. I just mentioned it because it's a great game.

UltraJMan: I'm honestly not so sure about Paper Mario at this point, because it looks like we might have quite a few 3-4 hour long games, and Paper Mario isn't looking too favorable against Pokemon, Fable 2 or Kingdom Hearts 2 (if both people come). I might have to make a topic about the RPGs we'll have and how to schedule them.

SMK: Glitchy, it will be more impressive to those who have played Pokemon, and it will be shorter making it easier to schedule. Cheesy

Trekhaak: It's generally assumed that each runner will bring their own games (unless if they're coming from a PAL region), but not the system, unless if they're driving/live not too far away from the DC area. We'll have to coordinate a bit, because we might not cover all of the systems that way, but Moooh's console and games topic should do the job.

American airport security is less tight and more dumb and overly meticulous. One thing to note that catches a lot of people off guard (including me), is that you can't bring toothpaste on a carry-on bag, because it has potential to be used as an explosive (TSA's reasoning, not mine). I lost a new tube of toothpaste because of that dumb rule. Sad

Mainly quoting this just in case. Don't wanna practice it and find out I'm not doing it, though from what I saw on the schedule, there might not be time for it.

My feelings on The Demon Rush
Axel Ryman: I think so, yes. I'll have to figure out how to finalize the game list because it's already at 100 hours, and a lot of times aren't filled in yet.

Trekhaak: I forgot the toothpaste thing also caught mike89. I had to take him to a CVS (pharmacy store) to get toothpaste.

Spineshark: Roll Eyes
Exoray
Toothpaste is not just something from American airport security, that along with liquids over 1dl are prohibited in pretty much all countries' airports nowadays.
I'm surprised people don't know about this already.
Willing to teach you the impossible
WHAT!!! I just noticed no MMX, X2, or X3!!! Whats going on? Do we not have any one to run them?
Unless you kidnap them or they fly in from Sweden, probably not.
