Mike - I did offer to do FF7 at the start of the thread, yes, provided that Essentia wasn't going to do FFX. Imo Essentia's FFX works out just as well, since she's been practicing for it diligently. Besides, she can pretty much guarantee hitting her mark.
Myself, I'm looking at 10.5 hours of play already, so I'm going to do the smart-person thing and nix my proposal. Frezy played more games than any one else in the previous marathon, and he clocked in at 8 hours. Doing FF7 (10 hours) on top of my current would utterly DESTROY me. Not to mention I'd like to enjoy the rest of the marathon instead of feel like I have it riding on my shoulders.
Also, can you put MGS down somewhere away from RE1-3?
The google spreadsheet isn't a schedule, it's just a way to see what games we can do for the marathon, and approximately how much time each one will take up. That being said, I should probably organize the sheet so the games are in alphabetical order, or maybe Molotov should. hmmmm? HMMMMMM?
FF7: I understand, Carcinogen, you have a lot of games already.
Kingdom Hearts 2: Since Axel Ryman isn't coming, I'd rather not have you overexert yourself Essentia. Is it safe to say we're cutting this game?
I'm making a fair bit of coin this summer, so I have a vested interest in coming to MAGFest (well, more specifically, this marathon.)
Put me down for Faxanadu. In the months leading up to the event, I'll practice until my face melts off, then see if I can beat my SDA time. By then I might have The Guardian Legend and Super Turrican practiced up too. Final Fantasy Legend is no problem either but that's about 80 minutes to finish.
Good news everybody! Unemployment has accepted our appeal so we'll be getting benefits. After asking about the marathon since its almost too late, she agreed that I may go and will give me the money necessary. All I'll need is estimates for how much money I'll need as well as finding a way to get there from Boston, MA, so right now 90% chance of going till I get those 2 things.
Depending on where the event is being held, I would love to do Kingdom Hearts 1/2. I know I could do KH2 in around 4:30-4:35(that's my plan for the SS I'm doing later this month. As for KH1, probably around 6:00-6:15. If Axel really wants to do KH2, no problem, he can use my new SS run to help speed his stream of it and I'll just watch.
Perhaps you guys could have some co-op runs. You could have a Battletoads race and then a co-op "speedrun" (never heard of anyone getting through 2 player in that game, let alone fast). Heck you could even play co-op in the new Kirby game
For those of you with nothing to run at the marathon, you could try Pokemon Red/Blue. It's not hard to run and it's pretty short for an RPG game. Mike mentioned in the first post that a Pokemon game would be a nice addition to the list.
4 player pokemon rumble might be a cool idea. It's pokemon AND multiplayer. Unfortunately, playing through as fast as possible is basically picking up a higher level poke here and there and blazing past the rest of the enemies. Maybe not interesting enough, I dunno. What does everybody else think?

Btoads co-op is the hardest thing imaginable. Haha. Not quite, but it's pretty tricky. My brother and I do it whenever he is back home, but we still take like 40 minutes to beat it. Level 5 is the hardest part besides the final level, because the additional sprite causes some mines to appear invisible (appear invisible...if that makes sense). The rest of the game is really easy except for levels 8, 9, and 12 just because of coordinating jumps and movements. The final level is the only one that still gives us trouble (except the mines in 5, yea), because those jumps in the final checkpoint are brutal. When you dismount, you can hit the other toad who is already on the platform and kill him, but if you wait too long, the screen will follow the toad on the platform and not the one hanging on the stick still, so you have to do the dismount blind. It's still really fun and entertaining though.
Idk if any pair of us would be ready for it at the marathon though. It takes a certain amount of practice to coordinate the movements and such. And the run is so inconsistent even with planning, it might not be a good fit. It's definitely fun though!
If Molotov is going, put in another vote for a full game Chrono Cross run, if we have time for it.
I'd also like to contribute since I'm planning to attend this year. I can run either Mario Galaxy (2 being my preference), Katamari Damacy, We Love Katamari, Mega Man 5, and/or Mega Man 9. Also I'd really like to do a run for ToeJam and Earl 2. I realize it's not as popular, but if Deign's streams have been any indication, it seems to be extremely entertaining even for people who have never played it before. Donations could be taken to determine which character I play as, or if someone else shows up who knows how to run it (Deign, Insipid, ???), a co-op run could also be done (TJ&E2, unlike Battletoads, is extremely easy on co-op, even when the two players have never practiced with each other).
Yeah, I played a bit of co-op Battletoads way back at MAGFest...4? 5? We got to level 8 before the other player ran out of continues, at which point I finished the game solo.
It was pretty painful. I don't think we used warps at all, but having to coordinate EVERYTHING lest one of you die is just super terrible without a ton of practice. I was honestly impressed we got as far as we did.
That said, I'm open to it at some point. If not for the marathon, maybe as bonus stream content (I'll be at MAGFest too).

If I go to the marathon, which I am rather sure I will, I call dibs. ^_^ If I bring an extra set up maybe we can practice it a bit before the marathon, before MAGfest, during downtime, etc. We can find some time to run through it. I know a few tricks here and there to make coordination a little easier, but it'll still take some time. :/ It would definitely be fun though. It always is. Haha.
