Glitching EB 1 flying man at a time
I would be able to do the weekend for option 2 (unless I can get off the day thursday or friday). Also, I don't see any Mickey games on there that I have on the site, mike :p. I would be willing to run those (at least the Mickey Magical Quest games) or Wario Land I, if we can fit it in (or have as an option in case i can't go for some odd reason). Hell, I would even be willing to do Joe and Mac (SNES) since that's not the hardest game to do in one sitting (only luck required is getting a weapon that won't kill a casual speedrun).
I want off the ride....

I also had an idea regarding SotN if we do it again. Basically, take the idea behind what we did during the opera scene of FFVI, and apply it to the opening dialogue ("Die monster! You don't belong....etc"). I think the fun factor, or "lolz" as the young kids call it nowadays, would far outweigh the loss of time by letting the scene play out.

Romscout and I can go back and forth with the dialogue without it being played. There is a speed run reason for skipping the text.
There are several reasons to skip the text, all related to the stats you start/gain while playing the game.
By beating dracula under 1 minute, the stats increase.
By beating dracula without getting hit, the stats increase.

The first one gets nulled by playing out the text, and the time lost is exponential as you play the game... just based on this fact alone... it would either have to be known about in advance (so rom and I can retime) for proper timing of the run. Also rom is too used to skipping/quick killing that he might not perform normal.

Better idea would be to do it before starting the run as a bit of motivation.  Wink

Ah, didn't realize that the cinema scene counted toward the time. Lame.

I'm cool with that.

...did I mention I have a cape and can do Dracula? Also, I asked Mike about this and he said that Frezy_Man as Richter would improve the voice acting by about 5X. Wink

Aww I actually thought about doing Dracula. Then again...maybe we can do something on "A Day in Dracula's Life" by Kajetokun. Basically a hilarious take on Dracula before/during the time Richter shows up. I know most of Dracula's lines by heart, some of Death's, and Richter/Maria's lines are just the ones they say in the game(Including Hydro Storm spamming).

For those wanting to see the video, look no further.

I love that video.  Still hilarious to watch.

"That's it!  He just lost his boss status!  He's now a NORMAL ASS ENEMY!  ...just like all those axe armors."

Granted the thing about doing that video compared to the original is that there is an EXTREME usage of the F word.  I don't think we could do it live on a charity marathon.  We'd be better off sticking to the original script, or the Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged version could be used two, which is only slightly different, but funny too.

I saw Kajet's name attached to the video and knew it was going to be high-quality. I was not disappointed.

"What...I..what're you talking about?! I didn't even say the WORD 'tribute'!"

Oh hey, a thread for this now!

I'd like to see some PC gaming...I'm learning Wolfenstein 3-D myself atm.  It would probably take around an hour and a half for the full game (assuming highest difficulty), but I think it's still well-known enough to be worth including.  I mean hey, you've got Nazi zombies and Hitler in a mecha suit!

stx-Vile or one of the other Doom gods should still be around, right?  See if you can get in contact with that community and find out if anyone would be willing to rep that series.  Unfortunately a lot of the best players are European IIRC, but it's still worth a shot.

Also for other games I can run: Castlevania 3 & 4 (not 1 though, already been done + takes too much luck for a good run) and Maximum Carnage (do this plz) are the main ones that would work.  You probably wouldn't be interested in Astyanax or most of the other stuff I can play.  I could learn Bloodlines if stanski isn't coming or whatever...
sda loyalist
Obviously I'm up for a bunch of PC games, like Quake and Descent (again, see my first post in this thread where I link the proposed games for the Classic FPS Marathon)

Mike not replying to me, YOU MAKE ME MAD, SUCKA!

One more idea I thought of for a game to do is Bubble Bobble Plus on the Wii.  It would be about 1 to 1.25 hrs (depending on how well the play goes) plus it's 1-4 players.  It's familiar enough to most people since Bubble Bobble has been around since the NES, but it's not as stale - a neat variety of levels, plus the MUSIC CHANGES!  The Super Arranged version would be best for this...much more fun then the Standard mode.  I can do this by myself, but it would be a lot of fun with a few other people.  It's pretty pick-up and play, even if you don't have access to a copy (note - Xbox 360 owners, this is virtually the same game as Bubble Bobble Neo).  Since I'd be bringing my Wii anyways, I would have this game for the marathon.

Edit: For Mega Man 10, figure about 50 minutes to do the run.  If there's nobody better at the marathon (like Tiki), I'll do it.
Waiting hurts my soul...
I know this might be a bad idea, but I think it'd cool to open up game voting for the next marathon during the current marathon or even before. Basically get people to commit to any game suggested by the viewers, and they have a year to prepare.

A money making idea is to have people donate with a game suggestion and the highest whatever number of games gets put in the marathon.

A third option in this same vein is have people pledge towards a game instead of outright sending the money. If the game is chosen then the donations are put into the pool, and if it's not chosen then the money is returned. This puts the option of choosing the game into your hands (or the runners), while gauging popularity and making money at the same time. This could even be done during this marathon where a time slot is set aside (or as the last game), and voting for the last game is ongoing during the first 48 hours. During the last 24 hours, the chosen game is announced along with the runner, who practices up until the time of the run. Of course, having a set of games to choose from instead of open suggesting for a game to be played that marathon would be necessary to make sure the game is on hand.

Depends on the charity really. They might allow us to go crazy with it if it means entertaining the viewers and getting more money, but of course that's only if they allowed it. If anything, we can change the script around and take out the F word and any other words we can't say.

Should say this now before I forget. If I can go, I can bring my Wii since its soft-modded and I have a USB loader on mine so i can load any game we need, be it Wii, Wiiware, or VC. Might be easier to just have 1 Wii there so we don't go crazy with who's Wii is which, who's game disc is who's, and which one has which game on it.

Yeah?  So is mine.  It turned out to be a wise move, since my disc drive is going.  Plus I have every WiiWare/VC game in any region.  And other things. Smiley
Whether I can make it would depend on if whether I'm in school or on a workterm at the time.  I'd vote for option 2 since that would interfere with school the least.  I don't know of anything specific I'd be able to contribute (maybe castle crashers co-op, but even that's a stretch) , but I'd be content just being part of the atmosphere.  I could piano something given enough notice, but that should probably stay Kareshi's domain.

In that case bringing yours is definitely a productive move. I think to be safe, people who are going should give you a list of any Wii/Wiiware/VC game so you can have it when you go for the Marathon. I'll bring mine either as a backup, or to play on if people get bored and feel like playing Wii games.

Wouldn't be that big of an issue for hardware, just record serial numbers at the door along with what games each person brings. As for game discs, label the case and keep it near the hardware it's in. Game discs should go right back in the case when switching out. Controllers and peripherals can be labeled as well. As for labels, easily removable ones would be best: Vinyl stickers, paper slipped into the case, taped names around cords, whatever works.
Visually Appealing
I would really like to make an effort to attend this time. I'm not exactly committing, but put me in the "most likely will show" pile. If I were to go, the time frame most likely wouldn't matter.

As for what I can contribute, make that X6 a definite. I can do Dracula X Chronicles and Maverick Hunter X as well. And maybe SotN depending on how many people are already racing.

And I'd be just fine with Dominos every day.
that Metroidvania guy
3-way SotN race must happen now! Shocked *points sword at Satoryu*

Also that's nice if you do X6 because now I have no time limit on learning to run the game anymore lol

My name is 4N6/Forensics.
I want to run Super Metroid. I plan on doing a 100% run. I just hope its not too far away but, my money situation should be good by then. So getting there shouldn't be a problem. I also plan on getting sub 0:55.
train kept rollin
Anouther game I could do thats popular is Trials HD. Having a run/IE table hosted is kinda moot becuase of the ingame replays of anyone in the top 5000. Im definitely not at teh calliber of some of the top guys like Redtrophie but I was in the top 100 for a while, have get platinums on every single level and have some individual times in the top 100 for some tracks. (I last looked a few months back)

Well I was going to suggest the possibility of a 100% Super Metroid race but I don't think I can touch 0:55. 1:20 is my best so far.
We got a definite head count? Shouldn't we put up a poll for timeframe?
