I was playing the game on my ps3 so i can tell you there won't be any problems.

Thanks Duke. If I can't get a new spindle for the PS1 then I may have to run it on the PS3.

And about your route, it's much faster, though I don't use the M950 at all. It'll be even faster without Antibody 2. I'll take a wild guess that 47 is possible at the last save point.

How do you like the 360?  I've had mine for over a year and a half now and love it;  though I've probably spent more time playing Xbox live arcade games than actual xbox 360 titles.:-p

My first 360 actually died 2 days after getting it (Bioshock was stuck in there too, so I had to get it out manually while trying to understand what the Philo XBox guy was saying), so I haven't been playing my second one that much out of paranoia that it'll die too (lol@Yahtzee). Also, I sat it next to my TV thinking it was a prime spot but the console's LOUDNESS drowns out any game I'm playing. Kinda hard to play at late at night. And unlike the original XBox, you HAVE to be online to play the Hurricane packs for Ninja Gaiden, even after saving the game. T_T

Long story short, the 360's ok, though I'd still play NG on the original XBox Tongue Hopefully Eternal Sonata, DMC4, RE5, and NG2 (*drools) will make it worth all the trouble. I'll take a look at Lost Planet, Gears of War, and even Halo 3 too, heh.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Well at least my route helped so it's not like I was wasting a few days of my time.:-p

What's wrong with having to be online when playing NG?  Is your 360 not connected to the internet?

I've never had a problem with noise and often play my 360 at 2 am.:-p

Are there any xbox live arcade games you play or do you not particular care for the arcade?  I love XBLA and have many games on my 360's HDD (the best one's being Doom, Castlevania: symphony of the night and Uno though there are plenty of other games that would appeal to other people, just not me).:-p

I can run the game again with a PS1 but, after talking with Duke, I might wait until I get a PS3 because since we're timing the run manually the loading times will count. Or a PS2 Slim atleast (they can play NTSC PS1 games properly unlike the Fat one, which is why I'll get one at some point), it really does load games faster, PE2 included. It's 'might' because of the end of this post.

So I have to decide whether to just finish the run on a PS1 or wait a month or 2 (I can finish setting up a new game+ run in the mean time) for the PS3/PS2 Slim.

Hmmz.

Here's some stuff about loading times for the game:
The game always hangs up for 3-5 seconds before arriving at Dryfield for the first time and before arriving at the Shelter (not the underground, the outside with the horse ambush. I've forgotten the name of it) at the beginning of disc 2.

The lens for both the PS1 and Fat PS2 stop before actually loading the said areas, so you'll see the scrolling text stop mid-way. I don't know how the fast load option on a Fat PS2 would work with it because mine won't work with the game (I've a feeling the mod chip and/or HDD is to blame for this).

On the flip side, I don't have a problem with longer loading times because when someone beats my run either with a PS3, Fat PS2 w/ fast loading, or PS2 Slim they'll have to be better than me anyway, right (might throw in a brand spanking new PS1 and PSone with fans attached)? In verifiers we trust >_<
Don't know what you should do...-_-
I would love to see your run now but if you prefer waiting for a PS3 (or PS2 slim) we can't help it.
The choice is your, after all, you're the runner.

ah my bad, I havn't played this game in about 8 years lol, all I remember using was the rail gun, autoshotgun and gunblade for the most part lol

Gunblade swing+shotgun=critical hit every time. The only problem is actually getting close to use that combo, some bosses are unaffected  Angry
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
oh yeah i remember of the gunblade, but i played this a long time ago, someone remember how get the gunblade?
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
yea it tears normal mobs to shreds though Smiley
There's two ways to get the Gunblade. Either beat the game with an S rank (and there's quite a few ways to get this) or equip the Medicine Wheel, gotten from beating the game with an L rank, before fighting No.9 at Dryfield.

Hello, I am spanish and I hope you guys understand my really suck english hehe =P
actually there is a speedrun movie of PE2, of a player called 'Lucianorx', I remember that the last save in the sterilization room was in 45, 46 or 47 minutes(I don't remember well). I saw the movie in the middle of 2006 in his site but since the beginning of 2007 the site is off, I asked him and he told me that he was working very much and left the site off for a time but perhaps in 2008 return. I lost the movies after format my PC. If someone wants, I can try to ask informations about the run.

Was that single segment or multi segment?
you can try checking his youtube profile for it:

http://youtube.com/user/lucianoRX

there is some rather impressive speedruns, no damage, and minimalist runs in there as well.
The video there was a walkthrough though. Not really a speedrun, was it?
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Ekudeht, was multi segmented but I not remember the number of saves.
Carcinogen, was a speedrun, it was what was written in the introduction of the video, something like 'parasite eve 2 speedrun 0:xx part1 etc'
I don't remember his e-mail, so I am searching in my e-mail box, it has many pages due to the spams :-/

again, I hope you guys understand me  Grin

we're looking for single-segment runs on this game.  I myself did a 46 minute run on a multi-segment run and that was with very little effort put in.  This game is a strange case for speedrunning due to how the internal timer functions and multi-saves shouldn't be included at this site because the timer resets the seconds on every save (meaning if you save your game at a time of 23:59 when you load up that save file it'll begin at 23:00 effectively eliminating whatever amount of seconds was previously there; because of that low times can be achieved just by making more saves without any increase in skill).

It's all confusing.:-p

I was talking about LucianoRX's youtube page, which Celceux just linked. The Parasite Eve 2 run there was a walkthrough.

If he has an actual speedrun of the game though, I'd like to see it.

I found the e-mail. I sent a message asking everything possible about the run.
Ekudeht, I understand, but I told about the movie because someone in this topic said that at present there was not speedrun-movie of the PE2. Grin
Carcinogen, I apologise, I am learning English now and sometimes I read so quickly and I understand wrong :-/

Anyone have a time for a run with 100% enemy clear?
I've been consistently getting 46 minutes at the last save point, so I think everything's all set. But lately I've been having console woes. My only copy of the game got scratched to hell on a PS2 slim when I tested it, so I've gotten another copy from Europe with my friend's help. I've asked around about the PS2 slim and no one else has had their games scratched with it, so I took a dive and got one anyway.

The PS2 slim loads as fast as the PS3 does. I noticed no difference between the two after spending about 4 hours with the PS3 and comparing recordings. They both lag a bit with the FMVs, so you can't skip them as fast as you can on a PS1, but they make up for that.

Anyway, that's that. I just need to wait for PE2 to arrive before I can record a run. If there's any more bloody problems I'll probably quit because I've spent far too much money on this run. I really hope not.
I finally have a somewhat good run. It's not as good as I want, so I dunno if I should send this one in. Atm, I'm leaning towards a big fat NO. Maybe I'm aiming too high?

Pretty much all the lucky parts went bad (Vacuum boss 2 did the poison gas twice, costing me far too much time, for example) and I had to wait or take damage before moving on, which made me a minute slower than my best* Because of this I also had to heal an extra time. I also screwed up the computer password once from reacting too slow and had to enter it again.

Apart from the lucky parts in the game, there's also luck with the PS2 slim. The game is unstable and can freeze in one of these 3 spots, where the disc stops spinning for about 5 seconds before resuming:
-before Dryfield
-before horse ambush at the Mines, after disc change
-before Neo Ark

*I had one excellent that was going to be my submission some months ago, but Ultimate ANMC's core didn't open for some reason when I knocked off all shoulders and he kept attacking. There's no word to describe how fucked up that was.
