I started a bit of planning
Edit history:
Raiker Z: 2010-10-31 07:11:57 pm
Ok so I'm questioning a few things on this
Segment 2 - Why get the ledge star piece? and You forgot to add in the dolly star piece.
Segment 3 - Not as big a deal as the segment 2 star piece, but why get the tree one now?
Segment 6 - Why are you fighting these koopa's fright jars are easy and faster.
Segment 7 - Eh this fight sounds a little gross, bomb = 1 hit drop, and I have a FF and PB to use on them Smiley (If I remember I don't save time because I buy an extra FF)
Segment 8 - WHOA WHOA WHOA why are you going BACK into the village just for the Koopa Koot thing? Do that IN the village NOT on the way back.
Segment 9 - Why are we beating up Whacka? He's not worth the money and it wont raise you enough for everything, Poor abused lil mole.

Segments 2 and 3 can be done at later times without having to do backtracking (Yes its not much but you still have to backtrack about a screen and a half combined, and with slow spinning)
Segment 6 is gross with the fright jar's but they are pretty reliable (Scare is far less reliable in some parts)
Segment 8's is just way not smart because thats the better part of 3 screens backtracking which combined is 6 screens :\ thats probably a minute or two (Depeding on where your seconds leave you)
Segment 9 is probably because I plan to use the Gambling Hall and just reset on the MANY MANY failures I'll have, but you can get at best like 5 bumps without going out of your way or screen shifting for them.

Oh right, I have a Youtube, but since I can't make video's it doesn't matter lol

I see what you mean I will change it up a bit
I actually say in segment 2 grab dolly
I wasn't goimg to kill him rigth away I was going to hit him once because throuout the course of the game 8 bumps sold is 512 coins mixed with 7
Jelly Supers/Maple Ultras is 1212 coins which is about half and I can luck manipulate the jump game twice instead of 4 and get the rip cheato star pieces after selling all my items on the way out of shiver city
Segment three star piece was put in there after the chapter as well so I deleted it.
Eh, while it's probably less real time effort, in the game your probably adding 10 min + to collect them and make them, I can only think of two that are in any way "convenient" to get, and the others are out of the way, like who really wants to watch someone hit that block in the desert 100 times? And isn't one of the Ultra Shroom/Jammin' Jelly in bowsers castle? Thats a lil out of the way.

Just a thing for TAS's though, if you luck manipulate the piggy game to always give you an ultra shroom/jammin jelly when you pass there, you can get 500+ coins (at least with my route)

Tonight I plan to work on chapter 4-5 intermission, which is basically.... errands Cry I'm guessing 15-25 minutes of side stuff before I go to LavaLava, but its semi-necessary to not have to backtrack a billion times when I can just do this now. Koopa Koot will be completely done after Chapter 6, though I will probably wait untill after chapter 7 to finish him (again, not 100% sure if you need to finish all chapters to do all 64 of chuck Quizmo's Quizzes, anyone confirm if this is true or not?)

By the way qwerty, do you plan to give Anti Guy a Lemon Candy, or beat him? I'd like to know if you have any benefits of the Lemon Candy other then earning 19 less star points, I think they are both same time (Candy may be a little faster) but I don't think I had the space for it or time to make it without taking a side trek (since you have to go down that hallway ONLY for flour/calc, I skipped it until after General guy). So just wanted to know your plans on that.
I was planning on battling him i think that it is quicker to beat him
Ok then Tongue semi yay semi darn lol

I hate yoshi childeren... so... very... much... I keep redoing this segment because of the jungle stuff that WONT GET SCARED -.- mostly its just the M. Bush and P. Plants -.- though some of the spear guys tick me off cuz I mess up dodging them and that leads to a reset... of course

These segments just justify my idea to count resets so everyone knows how much pain went into the final product Tongue

then i must have mistaken those i saw with someone else's lol
For some ridiculous reason, the last 4 Quizmo questions are withheld from you until you return to Shiver City from the Crystal Palace. With that said, would it be faster to get through all of the Quizmo questions after chapter 7, or would it be faster to get the bulk of them done between Chs. 6 and 7, saving the last 4 for the final errands before Bowser's castle?
Thank you Smiley it means save the final Koopa Koot errands + Quizzes till then. Smiley awesome that saves me like 5 hours of getting the jerk
Sigh anyone got tips to do bows scare better Tongue I noticed the any% seems to do scares alot better then me, so I was wondering if anyone has tips to help me with this Tongue cut down on ALOT of fails due to annoying ppl not being scared.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Unfortunately, I never used Bow much, other than for her Slap skill.  Otherwise, I just used offensive abilities. :3

As for scaring enemies, I think it's just random.

Not sure exactly how you're doing it, but what I did was use my right hand, turn it to the right (so my palm is facing to the left), close all of my fingers into a loose fist except my index finger, and then treat the control stick like I would if I was mashing a button. Just sort of do the "twitch" motion with it. It's kind of hard to explain.

Scaring enemies is not random, it has everything to do with how much you fill the meter. Some enemies are more prone to it than others, but filling it to 100% is always a guaranteed scare.
Ya thats pretty much what I'm doing, I turn the controller so that I mash the stick "down" which is to the right as far as the game cares, I was never very good at buttonmashing, I prefer more finesse then you know... spam this button till you get what you want. Oh well stupid scaring parts -.- though fright jars come in handy when you get them lol
Whoo so I just got done with Chapter 5, and just started Chapter 6 (ya the intermission all will take place in one segment, thats how little there is to do)

Now I get to do some new planning! FINALLY! through my route so far (with a few tweaks) I am at 3:25 (1:04 over the any%) I have 64 main star pieces, 2 quiz pieces, so 66 star pieces, 33 badges, and 9 power-ups Smiley Also The chain letter (you know that REALLY annoying one?) it only needs the chapter 7 people and then goompapa for the lucky day badge (or whatever lucky badge he gives you)

I'm thinking Ill end a little over 5:30, so hopefully when I start the full run I'll be able to get under that, but since I'm sure A LOT of time will be in Quizmo, I'm thinking my 5 hours may be a little off Cry *tear*
Now now, don't defeat yourself.  Keep at it until the end, and remember, miracles happen.
THIS RUN CONTAINS SECRET WORLDS
I suspect Quizmo should take maybe half an hour with some luck manipulation (during my last 100% playthrough I got Quizmo to appear every minute or so using the blue pipes, but obviously I didn't have optimized luck or an optimal strategy); I'd highly recommend heavily segmenting the part of the run where you answer most of his questions to reduce the time (even if it's as many as 60 segments, in which case I hope Nate puts them all in one video like each day of the Pikmin 2 run).

Also, regarding Bow's smack/spook command, I like to take my right hand's middle and index fingers, put the control stick between them, and twitch my hand back and forth much like NoiseCrash described.
Hey, RaikerZ, what's your route so far?  Could you please say?
Right now in my test I'm at 3:28, after getting Petunia's seed and scaring those 10 stupid moles (3... freaking... days) I'm doing planning right now for the rest of FF which promises to... (cries) lets just say if you hear about a new homicidal maniac running loose in the next few weeks, I snapped. Although I expect those moles to be the worst scaring segment, I have to A) Dodge 4-5 crazee dayzee's twice to get that stupid Upgrade block, or B) Scare all of them off which is entirely possible, but means horrible horrible pain for me. At least after I finish flower fields I get to have a little fun right!? Oh wait... after this chapter I get to buy out Rolf's stock and get the coins for Rip Cheato... So basically I have loads of things to go try out.
So, you don't have a solid route is what you're saying right?  Well, could you just say what you have figured out for sure then?
Its pretty solid, its just incomplete, I may find something I need that I could get in any part easier/faster then in a later part, so the only part I know wont change is the intro. Like right now I'm wondering if I should do some Koopa Koot favors before I go to chapter 7, or if I should wait till after. The first option means the Life Shroom I got back in chapter 2 is the best bet, but if I wait until after chapter 7, I can get one from Rip Cheato. If I happen to come across something where I need a sleepy sheep or super shroom each of those can be found in Goomba Pass, way back at the prologue. The route I'm doing is a work in progress, its basically what the route will be, but until I reach Bowser it can change.

To answer your questions, Yes I do have a solid route, just not finalized. And as for what definitly will NOT change, basically add getting the Dolly and a Goomnut to the any% through Goomba Pass. (Prologue)
THIS RUN CONTAINS SECRET WORLDS
I have a question for you, Raiker Z: what are your primary methods of accumulating coins for Rowf and Rip Cheato?
Lots of cussing, crying, resetting, and luck at either the jump game or hammer game for the gambling place.
Yo Raiker, what's your game plan for level ups?  I'm assuming your probably going to gain more levels than the any% run.
