hey hey hey!!
i've been using a site called rpgclassics.com
Quote from Enhasa:
One of us is illiterate and I'm not sure but I think it might be you.

Where did anyone ever rule that max companion level was required? You're trying to see the "SDA logic" behind something which isn't even true.

Calm down, calm down, dude. I'm not here to quarrel. I was just pointing out something which I found a little amusing. The power blocks which level up the companions are "on the way", or only a little offroads, which is why they can be included in a 100% run. In a true 100% run, absolutely everything should be maxed out – yet that's not the case with any 100% (I believe) on SDA. The site has custom definitons for 100%, and if something takes too much time, it won't be a requirement. The discussing here about what's 100%, which by definition shouldn't exist at all, is what amuses me. And yes, I was only teasing there.

I admit, there was no actual need for my initial post, but I still posted because I felt like it. Long story cut short: Don't rack your brains too much about this, I was just having my fun.
Awww...  no Diploma?  That's lame.  But, I'm not going to argue any more -- all badges & super blocks it is.  Heck, we might even defeat Kent C. Koopa anyways for star points & coins (but not likely).

I'm not in the mood to work on (or look at) a route now, but I'm pretty sure we'll wait until after getting the Ultra Hammer before backtracking for the star pieces hidden in the ground.  Flipping the tiles with your hammer is faster (and easier) than using a spin/tornado jump.

EDIT:
Quote from Enhasa:
Edit: Getting super blocks != using super blocks.

Actually, it is the same.  You've probably confused this game with the sequel (where you do have to manually use them after collecting them).
everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music
See, I am illiterate, sorry guys. Thanks for correcting me. Smiley
hey hey hey!!
floogal, i know that it's faster to use the hammer for panels, but i will be using spin jump for ones that are on the way, such as in the 3rd chapter where i can get one in the mansion on the carpet.  that would be a lot faster than going back there and doing that. besides, i will wait until after chapter five to do the rest of the sewers for super blocks because i already ran out of people and i'm at the beginning of the game

Segment 20
----------

-right 2
-left 1
-left 1
-left 3 (grab seed)
-right 1 (grab badge) backtrack
-from badge entrance, go left 2
-right 1
-right 1 into boo's mansion

Segment 21
----------

-get record and play it for boo
-get super boots and get star piece in same room as super boots
-get star piece in boxes next to portrait
-get star piece in room with clock
-get star piece on carpet next to couch, go on couch to top
-get star piece in second room on carpet
-get bow, talk to franky, save outside mansion
Yeah, waiting for the hammer to flip the star piece panels was only for backtracking (e.g. going back to Dry Dry Desert & Mt. Rugged).

Two comments on your latest two segments:
- get the FP Plus badge (the second one) in Forever Forest after beating Chapter 3, on the way back to Toad Town.  You can then take the wrong exit out of the detour area.
- Why are you buying a Life Shroom?  For Koopa Koot?  You need to save your coins for other things, and the Boo Shop is quite a detour -- grab the hidden Life Shroom in Dry Dry Desert in Chapter 2 instead.
hey hey hey!!
where's the hidden life shroom?

as you can see floogal, i obviously need your help on this route XD
If my memory serves me correctly, the Life Shroom is one screen north of the oasis.  You need to go to the oasis eventually to get a Lime for Koopa Koot.  There's also a hidden one in Lava Lava Volcano which is literally no detour at all (the room where you push blocks into the lava-river to slow the flow).  Would that be too late...?  I need to go check things more thoroughly....

You know, unlike the any% run, we might run the risk of running out of inventory space in a 100% run.  Oh well, stores are (mostly) small detours.
hey hey hey!!
i didnt have enough room to get the honey syrup behind the candy cane in the first way through, i had to get it on the way back because it took up to much space.  but this is kind of giving me a rough time because i don't think the route is perfect, especially with koopa koot favors and the chain letter thing.
heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh
Life shroom? One screen north of the oasis, jump up on the coin block to reveal a hidden ?-Block

You can store things in the shops right?
hey hey hey!!
maybe i should change the route to make it like that.  it's on the way completely in the route.  i go up from the oasis, not go down.  ill get right on it.
hey hey hey!!
my school has started up again, so i'm going to try and work on this as much as i can, but i'm a freshman so it might take a while just to get the route done.

Speedrunning is not about skill, but patience. Skill just reduces the amount of patience needed. Good luck

I couldn't agree with you more. My Paper Mario run was the first run I've ever done, and before this I hadn't even played it for about 4 or 5 years. I wouldn't call myself "skilled" at the game, I just sat down and retried over and over until it worked.

However I think you might've misunderstood him a little bit. I'm pretty sure he was talking about he is a freshman in high school. While true that he's a freshman to speedrunning, being a freshman in high school presents its own problems. Wink

ya, i was talking about freshman in high school.  it's tough for me.
i've made a huge mistake

Just don't talk about how you're making a 100% Paper Mario run at school and you won't get beat up :p

Anyway, I just wanted to ask why exactly the recipes aren't necessary for 100%? I know it would be boring, but I found out they ARE kept track of, in Mario's House. Just wondering why 2 of the things kept track of are necessary but not the 3rd.
It's for the same reason we're not getting the Mystery Note, Diploma, or tattles.  It doesn't grant the player any additional strengths or abilities.

The diploma does change the dialogue of a few characters, but that is barely noticeable (more so if you never talk to either of them), I don't remeber a mystery note, and the tattles are not recorded (somewhere it will say '64/64 enemies tattled'). The recipies...well there was something with the note in Mario's house, I haven't played the game in...years, so what that is I don't know.

Give it time. Eventually the only hard thing will be not to jump off a building out of pure boredom. And believe me it will cross your mind.

I'm assuming it is obvious that line should read 'Speedrunning is not about skill, but patience. Skill just reduces the amount of patience needed.'. The only skill it takes is the ability to complete the game (either any% or 100%).

i don't talk about games at school.  it's kind of a secret, i'm a big basketball player.
Sounds a bit familiar, I act the same way at school. I'm no basketball player, but I know nobody would believe it if they knew I was a "competitive" gamer. I like people like that, they're the coolest kind of people to me. My best friend is the same way.

Anyways, I actually wrote up a 100% route very recently. (Like 6 months ago)

It's not perfect (or even close),

But it should at least offer some ideas. I did a casual kinda-speed-oriented 100% playthrough using it and I liked it, it's pretty complex and actually a blast to play through. I might SS it someday (I always say that about Paper Mario though)

I'll find the route soon and put it up. Last I checked it was on paper.. :X
hey hey hey!!
it'll be awesome if you could post it!  it might be better than mine.  i'm not much of a routemaker......

Alright, I'll put it on here today. It's not incredibly detailed just gives a rough order of where to go and what to get, but I can expand on it. Maybe we should have some kind of collaborative effort because I'm really looking forward to doing this as a SS.

A SS 100%?
