I'm about to buy PS3. While I was trying to learn more about PS3, I found this thread refresh rates of ps3 games
If I'm getting it right, my PAL game will be as fast as NTSC version so I can easily improve my time.

My question is: Is this legit ? If I would submit any of my runs, would it get rejected, or is this a legit way to "speed up" PAL game ?
Or maybe I get it all wrong and nothing will change ?

It depends what you are playing and what connection standard. This is how I think it goes (own experience):

Say you have a PAL PS1 game and connect via composite or component cables, it will give you 50 Hz.
If you have a NTSC PSOne classic from a US account, you will get 60 Hz regardless of cable.
If you have a PAL PS3 game and output 720p/1080p over Component or HDMI, it will always exactly match the NTSC game. The games are identical.

I'm not sure about if you have a PAL PS3 game and play via composite/component though. If I had to guess I'd have to say that would also be 60 Hz due to online play so that all players have the same refresh rate. Feel free to test that out. I've never had the need to capture composite from a PS3 game.
I know that PS3 have 2 video out, HDMI and Component (or composite). I wanted to plug HDMI into monitor that would be my TV, and plug component (composite) to the EzCap and capture with it. That's how I wanted to do it.

For now I don't have PS3, I'm just gathering information, so I can't tell you what will happend, but thanks for answer.

AFAIK the PS3 won't output simultaneous video feeds like that. In its video output settings you have to choose just one connection method.
I wasn't 100% sure if it's possible to output video simultaneous, now I know it's not.
Could I use my old setup I'm using now: split composite signal from PS2 to old TV CRT and EzCap. Would this let me get the same effect on PS3 (60 Hz instead of 50 Hz) ?
Or use another method ? I'm aware only of the way I said earlier.

you can do that, but you will only get 60hz depending on what game.
pal games over composite will be 50hz, while ntsc games will be 60hz.
if you play pal games over an digital signal (hdmi) it will be 60hz.

this is the one thing i absolutely hate about the ps3.

and no, you cannot output video over both composite & hdmi, you can output audio through those simultaneously though.
I think I can sums this up.

PS3 with composite = 50 Hz with PAL games | 60 Hz with NTSC games
PS3 with HDMI = 60 Hz Always.

With the way I'm streaming now, spliting composite signal to TV and capture card will give me only 50 Hz. I was hoping I will get 60 Hz, but to get it I would need to use something like Black Magic Design or another capture device. At least I know I don't need to buy monitor to use HDMI, TV is enough hehe.

Thanks for helping.
