just turn off smileys when posting? Post it in a code tag? There's any number of ways around it :p

I agree with Nate. I've been putting up with it for years now and no one ever legitimately uses the damn smiley anyway. I vote for hacking it out.

... Better yet, I vote to just abolish smileys altogether (Or more realistically, set the "don't use smileys" option as checked by default)! Only thing good out of 'em was when Radix deleted Julie Anderson's smiley barrage for massive lulz.
