ahh, lame. Well I haven't had much luck and neither has Onin. It seems the small hitbox lets you get just enough height to charge jump off the knot in the wood. Would love it if you could take a look through since you seem so good at finding OOBs.
We also haven't had much luck trying to do it without climb, the killzone is just too big, I'm surprised we can get there at all, the angle is reasonably tight. Not iceless tight, but kinda lucky I found it none the less.
EstonianViking : Totally forgot that game had other categories than any% At least there is an use for this OoB! Did you managed to get it with the full hitbox? I don't have a save at this point right now.
I'm not sure if my save is OK or not because I don't know how to see hitbox graphics, but I did succeed several times without the crouch-save thing. Not sure if it's easier or harder, because I suck at the charge jump part.
Yeah, if your hit box is broken, you wont be able to get out of water. If you got it "several times" without a different strat, I'm thinking you have a glitched save. I've been trying for ages :S It would make me super happy to be wrong though.
Warning, it's ridiculously hard atm, I'm trying to come up with a setup. You need to get to a very very precise point on the tree, then fling the stick at a very precise time and angle. I've only gotten it correct once so far, but gotten through the tree (but too low down) 5-6 times.
Though, given it'd be doable without small hitbox with practice, perhaps All Cells could just use small hitbox strats until patch?

Ok. But still, hopefully if it gets more reliable it can be a really useful trick
Instructions are hidden in the spoiler tag, and in the video description. I think this is probably "easier" than iceless in terms of action windows, but will require a lot of practice.
[Update] DevilSquirrel just got this after only a few attempts and without looking at the coordinates, says it's quite a bit easier than Iceless. So I'm glad I'm just bad!
This clip is significantly harder and more precise than the version with the small hitbox glitch, but this makes the R1 to Escape glitch possible regardless of if/how the small hitbox glitch is patched.
How to perform: - You need to climb up the tree to around y coordinate: 426.8 or 426.9 this is going to probably be the hardest part to do after practice. - If you go up as high as you can go, this it 427.0, which gets you stuck in the nook and you can't easily go a single point down, so you basically want to go 1-2px lower than as high as you can go. (Clarification: As high as you can go while climbing, if you are jumping in the nook you can get to 427.5-427.6ish, you don't want to be in the nook at all) - Once there you perform a wall bash away from the wall, angling it as high as you can. - The next tricky part is the timing, I haven't quite worked it out, but you need to hit charge jump, then slightly after push the analog stick to the left and up. I found what feels like 0.2 seconds of delay, maybe a bit more is needed before moving the stick. You want to move it while Ori is inside the branch but before you come out.
If it's not working: - You went through the branch? You likely didn't hit the stick across soon enough. - Your charge jump got cancelled? You moved the stick too early. - You stayed under the branch when you jumped? You were too high. - You went to the right underneath the branch? You were too low. - You got into the tree, but were too low to get up to the required branch? You're on the right track, you just need a higher angle after the charge jump and you flick the stick to the upper left. I've found it easier to practice by just trying to clip the tree, and get the timing right first. Just smack the stick to the left as you charge jump and then try and get the timing down before worrying too much about the angle.
How I got the angle right first try, I have no idea. I've replicated this with perfect angle only a small percentage of my attempts, but I'm sure like Iceless, with practice this could be really consistent, there is nothing stopping it being consistent (unlike lava skips with moving hitboxes).
Ikewolf, as far as we can tell for now, climbless is still faster. Horu is so fast these days, that even skipping the whole thing isn't worth the time Misty takes. We'd need to get Misty down to like 4 minutes before this was a time save
to do this you wouldnt need to finish sorrow to get the fire stone. only go far enough for charge jump. i dont think im the right person to map out the time saves since i cant get any good times. but adding misty and sorrow up to charge, then take out the 2nd half of sorrow and all of horu. might end up about equal.

This is known to be useful in All Cells since they get Charge Jump and Climb already, but additional tricks in Misty Woods would be essential for this to be a time save in Any%. I don't see a way you can do this without climb, both the tree clip and the OOB require climb to get in the right spot/angle. So unless we find a way to get climb much faster, we're SoL for Any%.
I would say though, this skips L4 and the potential softlocks in Horu. So it might be considered "safer" if it were to be done in a Marathon setting or something. I think it also looks really badass and has showmanship potential even if it's "slower" in Any%.

We are still waiting for All Cells to be labeled as an official category. So tbh at the moment its not even technically useful until All Cells is official. I dont really know who to talk to about getting that put on the site, but there seems to be decent support for it. SerDilly and I both have runs we are waiting to submit and the route is quick to learn
I think Vulajin is also for the idea of an All Cells category and the discussion is only open to its name. I like the name All Cells though. Fair enough if the current 100% route wants to include 100%ing all game counters including map completion.
Celestics in his 42:11 run gets from the entrance of Horu to the end of the R1 cutscene in 1:16. Assuming you get the OOB first try, I'd say it takes 15-20 seconds. So let's say 1:30-1:45 to do my OOB, from Horu entrance to being in the fish part of the escape.
In the same run, Celestics goes from first control in Mount Horu entrance, to the same part of the fish escape in 6:30.
Therefore, if we can get climb and charge jump in less than 5 minutes. It's a time-save.
Looking at Misty Woods, people never really optimised it that well, but it looks like 5 minutes might be as fast as it gets without new glitches. If someone thinks they can way optimise this farther down than that, then MAYBE this OOB would be better. It certainly has benefits like: no lava, no potential soft locks, much swag.
I spent a decent chunk of time in Misty Woods trying to find new skips, but even Keystone Duping is of little use, as the reconfiguration of the area is tied to the picking up of these keystones it seems. I've yet to have much luck.
Funny thing, if you debug teleport into a certain wall in Misty Woods, you end up in the last room of Forlorn Ruins. Pretty sure this is useless for all categories, I also don't think there is a legitimate way to clip into that wall. Thought I'd mention it anyway. Maybe for like "All Dungeons" or something it'd be worth looking into? Not my focus at the moment.
[EDIT] I don't know how save warping works, but does anyone know if we might be able to save warp somewhere after getting climb? I have no idea where it'd warp us to, but I'm running out of ideas to make Climb faster to obtain. OOBs are nigh useless except maybe minor time savers because of how the triggers work.
