Quote from phoenixriku:
Call me a purist but I hate having a category that is solely based on: "it feels better", "it is less intimidating".  There is a trivial run setting you can place.  And yes runners can run whatever they want that doesn't mean everything is also on a leaderboard.  I'm pretty neutral on this.  Most of the people making claims either have current 100% times or have "All Cells" times.  In the end people will do what they do.

There are a number of people that would be interested in running a category that is less cluttered than the current 100%. The route is significantly different, you are able to do the early key dupe, skip large chunks of the Swamp, Sorrow Pass and almost all of the Forlorne ruins. Plus you also save at least 5 minutes in Haru because you can do L4 and OOB there. The run overall is significantly faster paced. I really dont see an argument against having it other than "We should only have two categories" which doesn't really make sense to me.

Sm64 has arbitrary categories. 120 star is obviously 100%, and 70 star is glitchless any%. Those make sense clearly, but categories like 0 star, 1 star, 16 star, 30 star and 45 star are all based on arbitrary in game requirements that people have found to be interesting. I dont see why Ori couldnt have a category or two that arent inherently assumed with routing. All cells, Elite, low%, etc. There are a lot of ways you could play the game. None of them are any "better" of a way to play than the others. They are just different, and that is good imo. It lets people play the game differently, and maybe find a way to enjoy it where they otherwise would get bored.

In the end, i think All Cells would bring more people into the community, and I think that just for that it is worth doing.
I feel like having an abundance of categories keeps a game fresh, I think nothing kills a community more than trying to keep it "pure". It bars new ideas, and discourages new people. If a new person is running a new route they might find all sorts of things or improvements that then benefit other routes. I see no reason not to at least have an All Cells or a Mapless category. It seems close-minded to suggest otherwise.
I agree that having some extra categories besides any% and 100% is good for a game. On the condition that each run brings it's own special thing to the table.
I would agree with All Cells being separate from 100%, I could also see a Low% and an Elite category getting some attention.

As for the distinction between 100% and All Cells, Super Metroid has split 100% categories. Item Collection and Map Completion. The physical in-game % counter actually caters towards what Super Metroid already does. I'm ok with having 100% be all cells + map, but if you do want to get technical, 100% doesn't even need all cells or upgrades. One could make a case for 100% map being it's own category as well (although people would probably look at it just as they do SM 100% Map lol)

If you save and quit while crouching, Ori's hitbox stays short:

[EDIT]: Apparently this is the cause of the "can't get out of water" bug, and will probably be patched.

I have confirmed that Mount Horu is on the same map as the rest of the world, and in the exact spot the map suggests. Also note, that the escape is positioned above R1, so skipping to there is also unlikely.

R4's lava hitbox:

Hopefully some of these minor things might inspire new glitches or help people in the future.
I found a way to out of bounds exactly like in your video AdamPrimer , but the results are not what I expected Angry

I HATE THE RESPAWN SYSTEM OF THAT GAME!
The cake is a lie

Haha, still a nice find ! This is the kind of thing that would be good to do in a glitch showcase or whatnot
Had a glitch i've never seen or read about happen to me a few minutes ago, i shoulda took a screen shot but was too mesmerized.  I was practicing the lava skip in horu and I must have bashed the slime the wrong way on accident, but anyways, he left the ground and just started floating around like a jelly fish, he eventually got the ceiling above with other slime.  Has anyone ever had this happen before? or know how to reproduce it?

You can have him float off diagonally down pretty easily if you bash him towards the right edge (away from the lava) at the right position. He just kinda... floats out towards the other side of the room. Looks pretty silly.
Okay. So I just did a "All Cells" run of Ori. Got the time to 1:27:07, and i had a few decent mistakes. I also didnt do L4, but i got OOB pretty quick. This run could easily get down to 1:15 in the next month.

Thats the VOD. I think its different enough to be its own category, but its important to hear what everyone else has to say as well.

One more useless OoB! Tongue
I did this on a glitched save *saving while crouching* I don't think it change something though.
MilTailsPrower, pretty much all the walls in the game are hollow if you can get past the collision detection... which you seem to have a knack for it... You should look into specific points where a skip of a fall through the world would aide us.

A glitch into the left wall of R4 for example might let us fall below the lava and into the path to the escape? Given you seem to need charge jump, this would be the most likely skip that might actually make getting charge jump worth it.

Do you have any idea why these areas are working and others don't? I might have to investigate this when I get a chance.
I am trying! Grin

R4? I actually found an oob here few weeks ago , but the game respawns me like always.

I also did some research with the OoB Wnbeser found yesterday , but nothing good with it *for now*

Hm no , I just try to glitch everywhere until it works thumbsup
You'd want to get to the left wall, rather than the right, if you teleport into the walls you can sometimes fall right through from R4 into the tunnel leading to the escape. No idea if you can get in though. Keep up the great work, I will help you on the hunt in ~24 hours when I can Smiley I'm excited.
There is a video of it?
No video, I just found it possible with debug mode where I could easily clip into the walls. I was clipping into the wall directly to left of the R4 entrance after you go through it into the R4 room. I can't actually remember if I made it all the way through without invulnerability, I'll have to check. It's mostly the first area that comes to mind where a clip would save a considerable amount of time if possible. The lava hotbox in the main room is huge for the floor lava, so the only way through it is to go around it from another room I believe, either r4 or l4 if either is possible. It's entirely theoretical in my head at the moment.

This is actually very useful for 100% because you can OOB all the way to the right side and then grab everything else/explore the map on the way back, causing less backtracking:

And useful for All-Cells category as well, they can use the OOB to come out above the energy cell, at around 0:15 mark.
But the crouch-hitbox thing will probably be patched anyway.
MilsTailsPrower, I found a skip from R1 straight into the end of the escape, and timing says it's still not worth getting climb... I don't think any glitch that requires climb will be useful to us ever Sad

Is there a video? Because that would be absolutely insane for the All Cells run. I am very interested.
Yeah, I'm putting it all together now, I totally forgot how awesome it might be for all cells!

Honestly, it could knock All Cells to under an hour. I am so hyped for this.
I'll pre-warn you, at the moment, it needs the small hitbox glitch (apparently slated to be patched), but it might be possible without, I haven't tried TOO hard yet, it's certainly far harder if it's possible.
Okay. Well its a really cool find either way. Hopefully when they patch small hitbox they will fix the issue with the water and not chnage the hitbox mechanic itself.
So as mentioned above, I may have found my first reasonably useful trick (for All Cells, this looks useless for Any%)

It lets you skip from R1 into the end of the final escape. It requires Climb + Charge Jump, hence why it's currently useless for Any%. Additional caveat: currently it additionally requires the Small Hitbox Glitch to work.

Firstly, you need to clip through the tree. This is the part that needs the small hitbox glitch.

Then you can use Climb + Charge Jump to fly through the kill zone and right into the escape!

And here is proof that you can do the charge jump escape part even with a full hitbox, I just can't currently find a way through the tree without the small hitbox glitch.

If someone can find a way through the tree with a big hitbox, please let me know, as we believe the small hitbox glitch will be fixed in the upcoming patch. This will likely be useful in All Cells if we can find a way through with the big hitbox. It may be useful in Any% if someone can work out a way through the kill zone without Climb, but the branches are just art based at the height we'd need. I tried for a while, but I couldn't get it to work.
Ill try messing around with the full hitbox. This is a crazy useful find if we can get that to work.
AdamPrimer : Wow what a great find! Nice job.
If only it had an use for any% Undecided

EstonianViking : Totally forgot that game had other categories than any% Tongue
At least there is an use for this OoB! Did you managed to get it with the full hitbox? I don't have a save at this point right now.
