The 2nd shortcut in Moon Grotto saves 1:00 to 1:20 depending on how efficient you are at getting the jumps. I did 5 comparisons and the most time i saved was 1:18 and at worst i lost 6 minutes... dont ask.
The iceless jump MilsTailsPrower showed off is pretty challenging. The first jump to reach the wall is probably pixel-perfect and requires very precise turn timing in midair. Jumping off the wall when you hit it is probably not frame perfect, but it's damn near. Jumping across to the next platform is deceptively precise, and you can easily miss it. You need at least four health to damage boost through the spikes, so you'd better not take any damage from the slime. All in all, I have to commend you for even finding this in the first place, let alone being able to do it at all consistently.
I made a quick Google doc that anyone can edit so we can keep track of useful tips and tricks for this game.

InfestedRiche found some out of bounds wrongwarp yesterday, I myself don't know anything about the game, so sorry if this is mentioned somewhere here Smiley
A lot of people have gotten that glitch, where collision detection just fails for some reason. So far we have no clue why it happens or how to reproduce it, which doesn't help its usefulness.
Judging by that clip I'd hazard a guess that it involves touching something solid(the energy crystal) and destroying it in the same frame.
Not likely. When I got the glitch, it happened immediately after a cutscene ended. Which has nothing at all to do with his circumstance, and also has nothing at all to do with when Vulajin got it (during the Forlorn Ruins gravity shift sequence).
Hey guys, was a playtester so I had a lot of time with the game before release. Gonna be uploading as much stuff as I can.

I'm also in touch with the devs, they are very adamant about patching the game up, but they also want to cater to the running community. If you got any direct questions lemme know and I'll patch it through.

For now here's a few things I've found. Got more but haven't made videos yet, will update as I get time to make them:

I also updated the google doc.

I'm sorry guys, but skipping into Sorrow Pass is a thing.

With triple jump and the feather, you can lure the birds just far enough into the passageway to damage boost your way up into the passage. As soon as you enter Sorrow Pass, the wind works, and you can continue on. You won't get the wall grab upgrade, but I don't think you need it, at least now in sorrow pass. So this would skip the entirety of Misty Woods and Forlorn Caverns.

The downsides: It's really freaking hard, and it requires triple jump. That means skipping every single damage upgrade and farming some additional experience just to do the skip.

Ori isn't acting well with OBS but I'll see if I can record it sometime.

I don't think wall-climb is actually needed anywhere except to get out of the area you get it; Repeatedly wall-jumping can serve the same effective purpose, unless those weird blue ghost-flowers are involved and I can't recall them being anywhere except Misty Woods.
As for damage upgrades; Bash and Stomp(i.e. knocking enemies into hazards, or using their projectiles against them) make them redundant, not to mention how few fights are actually required. So besides the difficulty of the trick I don't see any problem with it. Although I was looking forwards to breaking Forlorn Ruins; You don't give us that much control over gravity and get away with it.

Fuck. Forget all of this.

Getting Charge Jump early locks out your jump ability. I can't jump anymore. Fuck.
Yeah Abahbob said the same thing about this skip ... Forlorn Caverns can be skipped at least I guess.
Any way around that? Save & reload, die, etc.?

No way around it. Restarting does nothing.

Now I gotta start everything over and see if just skipping Forlorn Ruins doesn't break the game somehow. Blargh. At least Misty Woods being mandatory cuts down on the time wasted farming experience.

Edit: More tricks.

If you put a save point just before a cutscene trigger, then rekindle it while running into it, you can reload the save and be able to move during said cutscene. Still have to see where this is useful, but you can imagine the possibilities.
I found a trick in Forlorn Ruins that allows you to keep the gravity orb instead of putting it into the device that creates the bridge.
You just have to keep the spider just before the gate alive, then use its projectiles to jump over the gap.
I did it with triple jump but I'm pretty sure it's not required.

It doesn't break the game, the orb disappears after Gumo takes it from the device (even though you were supposed to still have it).

So this save glitch is really useful.

1. If you don't do iceless, you can skip the room with the purple spitters by save glitching the cutscene; the door won't close.
2. You can save glitch the lasers cutscene and they won't activate.
3. You can save glitch the bridge cutscene, grab the water element, and just go. Not useful, because double jump is required in the tree, but neat.
4. You can soft-lock on the tree's core by save glitching both tumors.
5. You can save glitch the element cutscene, and the water will fail to spawn. This saves a bit of time and also makes the escape sequence much easier, and allows all experience pickups.
6. The cutscene of Kuma, coming out from getting Smash, can be save glitched but you'll have to do blind movement so it's kinda hard to save time.
7. ...Don't try to glitch the cutscene of knocking Kuma atop the head. You'll break the game badly. I can't jump out of water anymore and part of the map is blockedoff by invisible walls.

not sure if anyone noticed this yet but this sack of spider eggs is completely skipable. there is no reason to take the time to knock it down. single jump to go though the first time and very easy double jump to get back.

EDIT: nevermind... seems like i either tested badly or just got super lucky. cant seem to get the getting past part anymore.
Small damage boost shortcut at the end of the Misty Woods:

Found a Misty Forest sequence break: http://i.imgur.com/xTROAhs.png

Use Dash to move that frog from the right side under the breakable floor. Then, dash his projectile into it. It'll break it, leading you to Climb early.
Also there are some leadboards set up if people are starting to do runs.  http://www.speedrun.com/ori

Is there an accurate in game timer?  From what I've seen it isn't as exact, but maybe I missed something.
phoenix's post reminded me of the 100% category.

In game, the only thing counting towards 100% is your map exploration. You don't actually have to collect anything, just discover the map.

The way the devs put it - you have to be pretty close to all the pick-ups anyways to see the map, so it's fine not to count them.

I don't know if I love that. Talked it over with Onin and Vulajin and we think it'll be better for the category to have 100% of the map explored (100% on the save file when done) + also making sure you have all countable pick-ups which are the Life Cells and Power Cells.

Thoughts?
Oh wow I didn't actually know that is how 100% worked.  Yeah definitely think true 100% category should include all life cells and power cells.

Sorrow's Pass sequence break with the green frog: http://i.imgur.com/bY0VFaF.jpg

Important about this one is that it skips a fragment door. I now have 4 spare fragments. I wonder where those could be useful?

I'm trying to get a frog to smash open the rocks that block the wind flow, so far no luck.

i feel like ability orbs should also be apart of 100% because they are counted in the pause screen though no definite number is listed. But i agree, more should be apart of 100% then just the map.
100% map completion also requires you to visit the location of every ability orb (and life and energy orb) so technically everything is included. Question is, if we mandate ability orbs, do we mandate experience orbs too?
