I made a video of how to skip getting the Fire Temple boss key.

Ya that is the alternative way, but it is slower than the bomb descent I think, because anybody playing in fire temple will get megaton.

TSA - I understand but it still sucks  :'(. I'd try my hand sometime but if I ever did I'd probably keep it to myself till I was decently far just in case I didn't finish it (bad habit). But, right now school is starting up and I really need to concentrate fully on getting this crap done properly so I'm not wasting my money. So, I'll have my hands full for a while.
Speed is the key.
That's too bad... but I understand you.

When I finish my 100% run, I think I'll give this a shot. But then it has probably been done by someone else anyway.

I made a video of Acryte's way of the Vine Glitch and also a way of my own.

Funny and useless glitch:

Everybody loves Hypnotoad!
perhaps we should each pick a segment and do it, so that it gets done as quickly as possible.

Although I'm not sure if Radix would like a run credited to anout 10 different people.

This is an excellent idea.  The run would literally be finished within a day. *dibs on Shadow Temple*

That's a really cool idea. It would be like an 'all-star' speedrun with all the best players contributing. I think it would be fun.

What if Radix did a monthly or quarterly 'all-star' game? For example, he picks a game, and a group of speed-runners try to get the best time. Or you could have two or three different groups of participants and it could be like a challenge to see what team could get the best time for the chosen game.

That is pro like OoT done quick... but too bad ill be busy and my cap card has started not working as of 2 days ago...

I also have a request... Fluffy, can you make a vid of the groundjump method w/ the shield dropped bombchu, and also the groundjump off the bomb (2 bombs) method incase someone is lacking of the bombchus?
Just call me the cynicism machine
Right, but what happens when one person sucks compared to the rest of you?

Seriously though, won't each segment have to wait until the preceding segment reports on their item values at the save?  Unless you assume that certain shots will be missed (meaning that the preceeding segments will have to be very anal about using depletable items, esp bombs), you're going to have to agree on a set number of items per segment.  That is, if segment 3 person assumes that segment 2 person uses 5 bombs, even though it only calls for 4, segment 2 person is going to have to either make damned sure that they only mess up once, or they're going to have to make a perfect run and then toss one bomb before saving.

Sounds like a lot of trouble, assuming Radix is ok with it.

thank you...

Oh and my capture card was fine, when it got reconnected in the dark one of the pins on my input converter got bent and wasn't connected... I bent it back and now I'm fine. Oh and I hooked up my controller thing on my friend's comp and it won't work their either so I think that it broke and my comp is fine... so... of to get another one!  Grin

(ordered new n64 to usb converter)

sweet... I have now captured that vid (N64) and am compressing. I showcase all 3 methods. Well... the 3 best methods... there is the jumping one too but that is limited in the places you can do it... though I should have done that one too.

You got to be kidding me.  Do you know how hard that double bomb trick is?  I just spent an hour trying to do it and now you don't even need the vid?!

Well I'm still uploading mine and it will be better than yours!

P.S. I'm on AIM if you want to come on...

Edit: Haha!  Yours has screwed up audio.  I did the 2 bomb way differently than you.  Your way is 10x easier.
The problem with a community OoT run is that you would have to have consistency between segments.  One extra slingshot bullet used means that every single segment after that is thrown off, and it kinda destroys the feel of a "speedrun", implying one run of the game, if you know what I mean.

Of course, it may very well be quite a long while before we have a OoT run incorperating all these tricks, but that's probably because of all the insane tricks that have been discovered for the simple reason that it's a Zelda game and everyone cares about it more.  I don't know about you guys, but I know I could never do this run because the tricks are simply too hard for me.  I consider myself hardcore for integrating backwalking...  I have a feeling only a few people around here really have the technical skill to do this run without insane amounts of practice to catch up, and it's kinda sad since TSA was one of them.  Still, it's up for grabs and I know a few here are more than qualified(I won't name names for fear of accidentally offending someone by virtue of ommision) so you never know.
He's back!
You have to come to an agreement on what your gonna start and end on. If a community is doing it then I'd advise to do it on the GC version otherwise its just done exclusivley on N64 with NTSC settings mean people with PAL TV's can't contribute anything, while GC OoT is 60Hz univerally and also runs a bit smoother as well.

here is the other issue... specific times of day... we'd need to get sun's song if we wanted to do this. Plus, there are version differences for GCN and N64 for menus right? One is 30 and one is 60?

Nooo!!!
dont forget about the quality. qdq and hl2dq was somewhat possible because of their ingame demo-system
The tiime of day problem wouldn't be too hard to bypass. II'm faiirly certaiin that iit iis always the same tiime of day after you fiiniish dungeons/temples and learn certaiin songs. All iit would mean iis that someone would play untiil the begiinniing of the next dungeon because iit doesn't matter whiich tiime of day you complete the dungeons. The number of iitems iissue wouldn't be too hard to resolve because the segments are short so iit wouldn't be hard to stiick to any guiideliines set for them. Of course, thiis iis all iif such a run was to occur but Ii was just sayiing that there iis almost always a way around these thiings.

Segment 1 is probally one of the hardest segments in the game I still have the fastest time on the site for it. Unfortunatley its not to SDA specifications and it has a watermark on it.

Is there a way to search for stuff just in this thread? When I use the search function it searches everywhere and brings up meaningless posts. Even when I narrow it down to "Newer Consoles" it still isn't very helpful.

I thought for Qdq and stuff we all recorded out best attepmts and then from there we just went and saw who's was the best and used that one?
That would be the best way
Still an interestening project Wink
