Six bombs to skip King Zora. Is bottle skip and scale skip make bombs worthy now?

What TSA said below. also, if we skip silver gauntlets and use the bombs on dodongo and then grab golden gauntlets we can skip a good amount too right? what is holding that back now?

Acryte and I talked.

We think it is best to keep the route I have, but get bombs in Dodongo's Cavern - we will make up time for getting bombs through the tricks we can do with them, and do Dodongo before Jabu so we can skip King Zora, bottle, and Golden Scale.

At least now I wont get so many wines over at YouTube because I'm not using the water skip. These skips wont affect the 100% route, though... I still need to get everything. Roll Eyes

Edit: Just remember... without the bottle you can't skip the last part of DC. It's probably faster to just skip the bottle, but take that into consideration.

I found a way to cross gaps w/ only bombchus as kid link using the slingshot... it may be possible to skip to the bomb bag and further cut down on time. When you release a deku seed, it makes you stop, so you can backflip w/ a seed ready, shoot it instantly and do the bombchu drop. you can even gain height off this.
IT HAS BEEN DONE!!!!
You can use that trick in order to get to the bomb bag and skipping the lizalfos battle, etc. This is a hard trick at first, but easy after a few minutes of practice... can be done with 6 chus. We'll need to restock maybe... depends since once we got bombs we only need 4 chus for ganon early and then the rest can be done w/ bombs... so nm I guess we wont need to restock.

Fastest Method:
1) do sword glitch on peice of grass before crossing bridge.
2) Execute this technique 1 time to cross the gap in the bridge.
3) Use it in the next room to get to bomb chest early... and here's how:
3b) Take out slingshot...
3c) Ready a shot
3d) Backflip and then release the shot (the longer you wait the more distance you cover but the less height you can gain generally... if done earlier you can gain height like adult link does using the hover boots or bombs...)
3e) Immediately after releasing the shot pullout a bombchu and shield drop it and hold your shield out.
3f) You have now completed the move.
3g) repeat until you are in backflipping range and height of that tall platform and backflip onto it. (can be done using a total of 6 bombchus)
3h) Jump down and grab the bomb bag.

I've found that getting a good finger layout is important. And also, MAKE SURE YOU RELEASE THE SHOT OTHERWISE YOU WON'T GET THIS TRICK.
for a finger layout I myself use:
bombchu on c-down + slingshot on c-left
Left index on Z, left thumb on joystick, right index on c-left, right middle finger on R, and right thumb on A... then after the backflip I switch my right index from c-left to C-down.

Slingshot skip isn't worth it, though a minimalist run is going to be very interesting lol. Basically though, you lose time on ghoma so it is pointless since we need it for spirit as well.

oh yeah, and if we use the slingshot thing... is 19 bombchus enough to get over the fence? then we can restock at kakariko in a SS. negative... we can't do it. can't get enough height to maintain the air hover. you get so close when you 're upside donw and backflipping down that slope but not quite.

You could use the hover glitch to get up to the block to skip some of it at least.

Ok, in theory, we should be able to beat KD without the gauntlets, as someone has tested that they can beat KD w/bombchu if they have the extra height.

The question is, how do we start the infinite sword glitch, and we will probably need to go to the well to get an extra supply of bombchus.

On the bright side, if it is possible, we skip child spirit, and a bunch of cutscenes.

This is probably beside the point, as it's probably possible to skip child spirit, but in a single segmented run, couldn't you use this trick to get past the gerudo gate, on the way back from child spirit?

Skipping the Golden Scale also means going the slow way up Zora's River...and skipping the bottle, which saves nearly a minute in Dodongo's Cavern. But IIRC, King Zora's talk and his moving his ass takes roughly the same amount of time...

I don't know. I'll get to work on a better route once the latest wave of discoveries stops (not that I want it to happen :P). In any case, I hope everything will work out in a nice way, if you know what I mean... Smiley

That doesn't work. Farore's Wind doesn't carry over between child and adult. :-[

Anyway, I'm thinking about the low%. SamSim brought up the issue of having to get certain unnecessary items in order to skip other unnecessary items. I'll try to compile a list of what we can currently skip.

Well, if you want a true low% run, I'd assume you can complete the game with the following inventory items:

Boomerang
Ocarina
Bombs
Bombchus
Fairy Bow
Hookshot
Light Arrows

Those two are unskippable. Light arrows are necessary for Ganondorf and the only way to open the DOT is if you get the OoT (which requires all 3 stones) and play the Song of Time.

the whole point of skipping the boat ride was not using ZL but you still need it.

Skipping the boat ride would probably be possible if you could somehow get 500 bombs/bombchus. Tongue

We will always need ZL for the Fairy's Fountain, which is required for the Light Arrows and so on.
