Been looking at running this game. It's a pretty interesting 3rd person adventure with FPS and fighting game sequences. Currently still going through an exploratory playthrough looking for strategies, sequence breaks, etc.

Some useful stuff I've found so far:
  • The easiest source of money is the fighting tournament, by losing to the 5th opponent and resetting the tournament. Could easily get 10k+ gold within a few minutes, IF you can get past the first fight properly.
  • For fighting sections in general, the best strategy I've found is using the ABAB combo (punch 1, punch 2, punch 1, punch 2) for damage, as almost all opponents are highly vulnerable to meaty attacks (ie hitting them while they're getting up). Once your fighting skill is past Taar Initiate you can chain knockdowns for easy damage. If they end up blocking, using crouching CDCD (kick 1212) can interrupt their blocking. I haven't really found any useful mixups to break blocks, so it'll have to do.
  • In FPS mode, you go significantly faster while strafing.
  • You can get the reincarnation scroll from the temple at the start of the game, though I doubt doing so is very useful. Reincarnating too fast will softlock the game, and the first time you really have to do it is after the demon gate, by which time I think you get it from Den's apartment anyway.

And then there's this handy skip:
  • Thread title:
I loved this game's concept, but I never finished it due to the controls being bad even for its time. I'd like to see a run of it though.

Well, this is problematic. After grinding out the fastest path for the antenna mission, the game decided to softlock. I'm unable to talk to Namtar at all. I really hope this isn't because of going too fast...

It does turn out you can open up the locked door without finding out about its code beforehand, but I don't think I can get the reagents I need or otherwise progress without getting this mission complete.
Refresh my memory, how far is this into the game? Maybe you need to trigger some other event before that happens, I don't think the game would break explicitly because you went too fast.
It's the first two missions after entering Jaunpur, the third area. I'm 99% sure I didn't skip anything (except for small things the missions want you to do but I don't cause it's slow), as I found someone on the GOG forum claiming to have the same issue. He fixed it by reloading an old save and redoing them. That didn't work for me, hence my suspicion I'm doing something too fast.
Here's a thread with a guy who had a similar issue, perhaps it will help you as well? http://atariage.com/forums/topic/40578-omikron-help/ TLDR you need to talk to Dakobah first.

I have no idea where Dakobah is at that point. He's not in his own room, all the other rooms are either closed or locked.

That's what that post says as well, apparently for some reason he's not at his usual spot, but the poster doesn't elaborate, you'll have to do some digging, I guess. If you share your route so far I can also get into routing for the game and help you out. Perhaps do a video?

There isn't much of a route, it's simply doing all the mandatory parts as fast as possible. I'm not sure about the necessity of a lot of things (such as questioning the stripper when you can just memorize the code), I'll have to research those parts later.

I really have no clue where Dakobah is. I'm looking through some lets play videos but they're just going straight to Namtar without anything in between.
I enjoyed playing this game several years ago, it has a very special atmosphere.

Nice skip at the bridge !
I did a little test run for further routing, strats, etc. Cutting out the dumb mistakes, it should take less than an hour to reach Jaunpur. The only skipable mission is Jenna's investigation; you only have to interrogate her, but everything else (including getting Anise's paper) is mandatory. Also, I softlocked at Namtar again. ._.

    New discoveries:
  • Up+BC is the single most OP fighting move and every single character can use it. It generally causes a knockdown immediately, which can be chained without having to run at the enemy again; you just need to time it properly and everyone dies easy. (it's the front-flip attack, to be clear)
  • It's probably faster to stay as low health as the supermarket shooting section gets you, so you can purposefully lose the fight on the roof. This'll get you an automatic reincarnate, meaning you don't have to manually do one before entering Jaunpur. It's weird, but even if you do Den's apartment and the HQ demon fights as the thief, the mechabots are still looking for Kay'l.
  • As soon as you enter Jaunpur, you can reincarnate into the iron mask guy. He has maxed out fighting skills and huge defense, which should make the rest of the game very simple (for as long as you can hang onto him anyway)

The one thing I still have to figure out is the fastest way to get the 400 sek you need to get Dan's sneak fixed. I'm guessing the best course of action will be doing the fighting tournament; it's close by and allows you to stack up for future investments, whatever those might be.
  • You asked for a video, so I made you a video. Yua is still bugging out for me so it has a death in it, but whatever. It shows everything from after the credits (I saved you those 6:40 of nothing) up to the softlock.

Things I still have to figure out:
    - Whether the tournament is the fastest way to get money
    - Whether that tournament flyer is the closest one
    - How not to softlock :|
