Yoshi's eggs are at my mercy!
Where to start, recently IGN.com opened their official "Rev" channel. And they've had several new bursts of information.

For one, on the graphics concern on the Rev, they claim 2.5 times that of the gamecube, or a REALLY well polished Xbox game. So, think of the Rev as a current-gen console with extremely supurb graphics.

And with the lowered specs and graphics, developers have claimed that a $149.99 price tag is an accurate estimation towards what the Rev could launch at. However, they also claimed that a possible $99.99 wouldn't be out of the question. Which would be massively impressive, when the alternative consoles would be at least triple the price.

Generally, I didn't feel like bumping the other 30 topics concerning next-gen consoles, esspecially when I wanted one focused on the one I look forward to the most. Teh_Rev baby!
Thread title:
There is one thing that I do know.

If they do infact have this entire "Retro Game" magazine available at launch, I just won't be able to resist...  I need a new gamecube, after all...
What's the deal with the Rev's controller??? I dunno about that. I'm a bit critical at the moment...

Ok, how is Nintendo struggling with the other consoles?

Yay fanboyism. Grin
I'll believe all that when I see it.
If they followed the same cost-to-price ratio as Microsoft, it would actually be less than a hundred.  But Nintendo has almost always made money off consoles directly, so $99 won't come until at least a year or two in.  At least, that's what the fortune cookie told me.
Really? Because mine said to me "You are almost there".
Yeah, I said it.
I don't know which console will sell the best, but I think it's hard to deny that the Revolution has the most going for it as a system at the moment.
Rock on, Earthbound. Rock on.
And I thought Nintendo couldn't do more to make me melt into a puddle of fanboyish glee.  OMG, Nintendo ftw.
PwNzRd!
Ugh! Well, it beats Xbox 3shitty, but I am still holding out for PS3.
100% runs=great to watch
I gotta admit...it'd be hilarious to be able to pick up a Revolution for around the price of 2 360 games.
...
This deal just keeps getting better and better. Where will it end? Next they'll say it will come with a hot girl that gives you oral pleasure while playing...

Nintendo has more liquid assets than Microsoft.  (I heard that recently)

None of this info surprises me.
Sleeping Terror
1. The Revolution will not be $99. $149 is highly unlikely. Just because IGN said so does not make it true, or even likely - after all, you can't spell ignorant without IGN.

2. The "2-3 times as powerful as the Gamecube" comment is quite old, and was withdrawn by Nintendo.

3. Nintendo does not have more liquid assets than Microsoft. Actually, both companies have a larger-than-usual amount of liquid assets compared to their size. Nintendo may have more liquid assest than Microsoft will let their games division use, however.
MarioKart64.com biotch!

How could the rev be $99? The DS is 150.
Hey a PSP is $250 so it 2.5 times the possible cost of a Revolution
Yeah, I said it.

The Rev could be $199 and I would still call it the most impressive.
The GCN launched at $199 and IIRC, the N64 launched at $250.  I see the Rev launching at around that price range.
Rock on, Earthbound. Rock on.

Buzzkill.  Tongue  149 is probably over low, but even seeing estimates that low is extremely heartening.  At the very least, it tells us that it won't be a small fortune to purchase.  As Lucid said, even at 200 it's stil the sweetest deal.  And it seems like a Nintendo thing to do as well.  Then again, my main concern has never been about the console, but the controllers.  No word on the cost for more of those yet.
are you guys talking in US dollars?
100% runs=great to watch
Yep US $

The reason I think this may dip under 200$ is Nintendo themselves.  Every other Nintendo console, pretty much, lauched at around 200-250.  However, times have changed.  Nintendo has changed.  This isn't even a traditional move on their part...or even a traditional console.

Thus, the "tradition" of a 200-250 machine...where the upgrades generally went in an entirely different way with an entirely different market...seems like it will probably get abandoned just like the rest of the factors.
Although Nintendo is still firmly my favourite system/company; I think they realise that they are not the favourite with a majority of people and perhaps don't have the selling capabilities they used to have, causing them to sell at a cheaper price in an attempt to attract more buyers...

That's my two cents to this topic

Nintendo isn't nearly as dominant as it once was, but it really knows how to turn a profit, so I don't think it's desperate for cash. It seems to me that Revolution is them embracing their niche status.

I love all off my nintendo consoles and can't wait for the revolution. But back here in sunny old England, people keep askign me "So what do you like doing then?" and when i replay "GAMES!!!" they say "Oh, cool. XBox 360 your sortof thing then?" and when i tell them NO WAY Revolution all the way baby! They are like WTF is a revolution?! Nintendo has dropped dramatically in England at least but it will still be the best company in my heart forever!
Isn't it cute?
Yeah, that is slightly unrealistic. But I'll still but it whatever the cost.

(Metroid Prime 3!!)

Excuse me while I go drool.
