I love all off my nintendo consoles and can't wait for the revolution. But back here in sunny old England, people keep askign me "So what do you like doing then?" and when i replay "GAMES!!!" they say "Oh, cool. XBox 360 your sortof thing then?" and when i tell them NO WAY Revolution all the way baby! They are like WTF is a revolution?! Nintendo has dropped dramatically in England at least but it will still be the best company in my heart forever!

Yes, because the general non-gaming public know of every system that has yet to come out.  The only reason that people are aware of the Xbox 360 is that it's gotten a lot of publicity what with the recent robberies, the shortage resulting in the system going for thousands of dollars on ebay, all of the commercials from Best Buy pushing the Xbox 360 (In fact, I've only seen a real Xbox 360 commercial twice).

My mother called my Playstation a Nintendo for years, does that mean that Sony dropped the ball?
Zelda Scientist®
true, and gamecubes and gb SPs would become free.

I just cant help but wonder what a group of people playing double dutch and a city full of people throwing water balloons has to do with video gaming.Seems to me lately all these game companies just throw any crap together and you don't even know that its a game advertisement until the very last second!

It's implying that everyone can join in on the game at any time, that the game is a social event, not just a single player video game. It's called symbolism, look into it  Wink
Oh for gods sakes its just video gaming!
XXY
That's like saying cheese is just cheese. For god sakes, get a hold of yourself. Ok yeah, I'm sorry about posting in this thread <_<;

That's exactly the viewpoint that Nintendo hopes to turn on its head with the Revolution.  They're gunning for a low-cost, intuitive (easy to pick-up-and-play for anyone) system that doesn't pander to the Hardcore Gamer Genre Refinement Cycle.  I'm very curious to see if they can pull it off.
THANK YOU! :)I just hope their commercials make sense.
100% runs=great to watch
I'm expecting either a more violent or more sexual version of their Mario Kart DS comercials..or perhaps a combo of both.  Perhaps Luigi clubbing a Boo to death with a blackjack/flashlight combo while a little kid furiously shakes the controller at it?
Rock on, Earthbound. Rock on.
*And the penguin smote the Getter, and all was at peace.*

As far as the Xbox commercials though, I rather like them.  They're fun and playful, and really capture soemthing inside all of us.  It's embracing the online multiplayer era and communicating the freedom it brings by showing everyone getting in on the game.  It may not be how it actually works, but the image it provokes is extremely encouraging.

All the same, I have very little interest in the 360.  Aside from DOA4 there's nothing that holds any interest for me on it.  Revolution all the way, I don't care if it takes another year.
everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music

Saying nothing about the console itself, mind you, are you kidding? Xbox commercials are among the worst things around. The worst is for this war game, where at the beginning they proudly display some quote "best WW2 game of 2005" from Gamespot (this was the single funniest thing I had heard all year, I laughed for 30 seconds nonstop). Then they show some footage that is supposed to look realistic but just looks to me like some Pixar movie. Perhaps game developers have never heard of the uncanny valley.

Anyway, it's certainly not the worst commercial of all time. IMHO that would be FFTA.
I'm still searching for more 64 games to play which I never have! Screw the new systems. I say we should all work backwards  Grin

And apparently with the Revolution you will be able to do just that.
PwNzRd!
The Original Doom: Worst graphics ever, best gameplay ever, AND IT'S STILL BEING PLAYED/SOLD TODAY, OVER 10 YEARS! Take a lesson from the classics, Xbox, you don't need great graphics to make a great game.
What I even find funnier about the 360 graphics, is since I've been playing America's Army before I came back here, the graphics for the 360 don't even don't look that impressive, they're just on-par with my computer's graphics.

Hell, Half-Life 2 on lowest settings looks better than the 360!

That being said, I'm not intrigued, and I've despised Sony's Playstation (NOT THEIR OTHER PRODUCTS MIND!) for causing the death of Sega, so I'm not looking forward to ps3.  That leaves...

Viva la Revolution!

I'll believe it's going for $99 when the DS sells for $70-80 though...
ouch!

What's the deal with the Rev's controller??? I dunno about that. I'm a bit critical at the moment...

2 words: third party. haha, really if thats how their controller is gonna be, i be gettin me a logitech, and hopefully logitech will make a controller that is useable.

I havne't used the revolution controller of course, but just looking at it doesn't make me want to use it. even if it is easy to use, i don't want a 2 peice controller...

As far as Nintendo goes, they are definately on the right track... do you all remember wen game consoles were under under 200 at launch date? i sure do, what is with all this 4 and 5 hundred dollar console crap!? they are really getting out of control, i can buy myself a very decent PC for the price of a console.

The whole point of consoles is for them to be affordable. XBOX360 is not affordable...

I kind like the idea of a 2 piece contorller for a change.  Picture this:

You've just had a harrowing match of Super Smash Bros Revolution.  Despite your best efforts with your favorite character...ya got beat down and trash talked by an annoying friend that just leeches off your Revolution because he doesn't believe in helping the competition to his beloved 360.

You then feint getting up as a setup to then strangle the annoying person to death from behind via the Nunchuck controller style you guys had just been using.  It simply can't be done with the Boomerang.  Sony is behind the times on wways to assault people.  Thus the Revolution strides forth...

Sheer magic and innovation from the Big N. Wink

Damn, I turn away for 2 days and the topic remains bumped to the top with 3 pages?

I understand all your points are valid. I mainly wanted to cover the celebration on IGN finally releasing the Rev. channel, and that statement they said. But you're probably right, let's all get real here, Nintendo could easily get away with the console selling at $249.99 when everything else is $399 ...

Concerning the X360 dissapointments, I'm a contender. After reading on that one of my favorite developers (Rareware) completely screwed up on Kameo really let's me down. As I was going to rush an X360 come January for that and PGR3, but now, I really don't see the rush to get the console so hastily for only 1 next-gen title that interests me. =\

Now, we've all spammed about the console, what does everyone think about the launch/ known games coming to Rev?:

- "Super Mario 128" (supposibly launch)
- "The legend of Zelda" Revolution
- Super Smash Bros. Revolution (launch)
- That one FPS recently announced by that one company .. I forgot the name
dinosaur from the past
Has Rareware released ANYTHING good since it was announced they were getting bought by Microsoft?

Not to my, or anyone else's, knowledge.

For this reason I hope there is not a Banjo-Threeie for it will likely be botched as well. Sad
