he's in waco, directly on the way down to your place. and don't give up yet - give me the dimensions and i'll let you know.
I would love to hang around and play games with all of you.  Don't really know any of you, but what the hell. Depending on times/location, I may be able to go as well.

If so, I'll be bringing my SNES with around 20 games.  I can also bring the original DDR if I'm able to go.

LOL Lag you missed one:

BTW this is a great pic but not for the reason Lag intended.
Yoshi's eggs are at my mercy!
Actually, the Step Mania properties window blocks the open ps3 fanboy and SDA forum tabs. But please elaborate on what's so great about the screen cap ...

Well, I figured no one cared given there's no rl discussion section (don't read too deep into that). I'm fine. The previous message, this one, and all future ones are being done on my iPhone. Nothing major to report here. Yards flooded, wooden fences flew apart, big trees fell on powerlines attached to power poles that fell on trees, etc.

I'm fine. Just that the stimated time of power restoration to my area is September 10 at 5 pm! I hope that estimated time is off by a large margain!

Right now I just draw, read old Sonic comics that I didn't read because I always had something better to do, surf on my iPhone, and charge my laptop via our generator overnight along with my phone in the process.

I'll supply meaningful updates as time passes. In the mean time, just assume I'm bored, and would love to have a double whooper right now.

How're things fit you Nate?
oh dude that's so lame about the power. i guess it's cool you have a generator though so it's not absolutely insane, like some kind of religious experience or something. glad to get an update from down there.

I was going to post here with some more actual info but now Mike is going to talk to the MAGFest people so I'm waiting on that. Short version for now: Jan 1-4, Arlington/Alexandria VA (although we're not formal so you can come early if you want, stay late, etc). You can think Washington DC for all intents and purposes. Mike is 8 mins away from Arlington National Cemetary and like 10 mins away from Reagan National Airport.

Oh yeah, we're trying to find out if anyone else is from the DC area. Arkarian is close-ish, I think he's on the Maryland side or something. This is because Mike Uyama is going to dash your illusions and not put you (general you) up at his house. Either use the MAGFest hotel, get your own cheapo hotel or whatever, or we find more SDA people in the area who can accomodate people.

trihex: Lag is probably like WHOAMG what's up, "modern games suck", wow you are such a fanboy. I think it's great because a fanboy thinks their whatever is better than the rest, but you are on all the fanboy sites which is funny but awesome. It's like watching MSNBC + Fox News to get actual balanced news.
<3 Enhasa!

I think it'd probably be a good idea to try and get everyone to use the same cheapo hotel or something that everyone could decide on, so maybe we could get some kind of discount for getting a bunch of people over there.  At least we could get people to get rooms or something together to make it cheaper Smiley

Of course I don't have to worry about that because I'm staying at Mike Uyama's house..............................................which I've been dreaming since I bought those 1 piece zipper pajamas with bubsy's face all over Wink

Actually yeah I was getting at the point you made, but no matter. Underestimating me never did me any harm!

Also, actual dates! *runs off to buy tickets*

Yep, I'm about 45 minutes north of DC, but according to Google Maps, Arlington is only an hour and a half away, so I'll probably just drive down each day. Depends on what the hotel rates are.
January 4 happens to be my birthday. Now we have two reasons to get trashed on the last day of the event! =D
Put me as a maybe. I'll need to get a ride and Mapquest tells me it will be a 7 hour drive from where I'm at. I'm in western nc if anyone giving rides is driving through there.
#Casual
I live in Alexandria, about 5 miles from the hotel.

I may be able to host a couple of people, but that depends on my schedule -- if I'm not going to be out of town because of work.  I should probably be able to secure those days as vacation days and I should sometime November or December.

So, if you're interested, please let me know.
Everything's better with Magitek
It's looking a little more likely that I'll be coming.  My husband doesn't want to travel all that way just for a meetup, but both of us would like to see stuff around Washington DC.  So we might plan more of a Washington DC vacation, and then we can stop in for the meetup for a little bit.

One thing I was wondering, though: What is the weather like in that area in early January?
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Cold and cloudy, but not extremely cold. The temperature usually ranges from about 30-45 degrees.

DC weather isn't too bad in the winter.  The only problem is when it gets snowy/icy and the roads just become nightmares.  It doesn't help that people don't know how to drive even when it's bright and sunny, either.

I currently reside in Arizona, but lived in Arlington for the first 21 years of my life.  I'm actually in Arlington right now because I'm super cool like that and had to come back here for business and whatnot.  8)

Not that anyone knows me, of course.

Anyway, I can't guarantee anything, but I know a few people that work for hotels that could potentially get you all a massive discount. I'll start talking to them and see if I can arrange something. No, I'm not inviting myself-- chances are I won't even be in town to crash it. It's just my way of giving back to a site I adore. If it works out, that is.  Wink

There is a special magfest rate at the hotel. http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/groups/personalized/DCAAHHF-MAG-20081226/index.jhtml

As you can see from the types of rooms, you can easily share a room with someone else if money is an issue.

Vice, thanks for the offer. I'm not trying to be an ass or anything, I'm just showing you what magfest is offering. If you could get an even cheaper hotel that's fairly close by, that would be great.

Oh I'm glad you posted the link.  It gives me a good base number to work with.

I just heard back from my first friend a few minutes ago.  He gets a 40-50% discount (meaning rooms would be around $50ish per night-- dirt cheap with 2-3 people per), but the problem is that he'd need to personally check in. Him being in town during that time is 50/50 he says. So.. that one is questionable, although still possible.

My roommate's dad has worked for the Marriot for like 30 bajillion years and I remember him offering random hotel rooms to me, which leads me to believe that he can get rooms with other peoples' names on them.  So that seems like the best bet, but I truly cannot be arsed calling my roommate at the moment.

O Zlda?
It's like 450 miles for me. Wish I could but the car isn't in a state of repair to handle that kind of trip.

Not that anyone here would want me there anyway but it'd be cool to personally meet and show appreciation for some of the people who make this site awesome...
