I do agree with what you are saying, juggling might not be the fastest option in some cases. Like Mercedes' Round Shot can easily get rid of all the ennemies in front that boss can make spawn. Gwendolyn for example can do a lot of damage using her regular attack and POW skills. Velvet's DPS is pretty bad with only her normal attacks, she depends a lot on her PP skills it seems. However, juggling does prevents the boss from blocking your attacks.

IGT would be perfect for Invidual Characters runs, IGT in this game is pretty good. The timer still goes on while you are in the menus and even if you press the PS button.

When it comes to  Any% New Game, there is a total time IGT would could refer to. I think we should keep both IGT and RTA in mind for now.

Full Any% should get True ending for 2 reasons:

1. If you did the entire game, you might as well finish the run with the true ending.

2. True ending gives the credits roll, bad ending does not.

If you really want to speed runs Armageddon with different characters, you could do it in a NG+ category that only does the armagedon book.
IGT would also make running on PS3 and PS4 (and Vita) consistent due to it ignoring load times, which would be a big plus!
Also...since there is enough activity here to warrant it, would anyone be interested in a Discord to help document and discuss our progress? If so, I could see if the other Vanillaware game running communities (Odin Sphere original, Dragon's Crown, etc.) are interested as well.

I'm down for doing this in discord since its much easier to check that.

Whats the current progress on the maps you're making Sleepy so I don't have to waste time doing other characters, but I won't have a list of every item that drops from the room cause that is a lot of work and I'm more concerned with making a usable route first.

Also I'm gonna make a google doc to put all the info and fill it out.

I have a HD capture card so I can get the maps straight from the game with screenshots and crop em together fairly quick. It only took like 8 mins to get the all the maps for Velvet and another 10 or so to put them together.

It's crude but its pretty painless

Current progress is negligible, Rosael, I hate to ask this of you but could you grab the rest of the maps? The quality would be a lot higher with the HD capture card. I can start going through on a new file and  writing in what items are in what rooms.

I can also go into photoshop and draw over the maps with vectors to make them cleaner. That shouldn't take too much time.

Great job putting the maps together like that Rosael. If you guys could also add a line that shows the direct path to the boss that would be great.

My 100% Hard difficulty file is done. I'll start grinding stuff for NG+ and bosses strats ideas.

Finding the bare minimum number of areas to go through is fairly simple.  The only thing that throws a wrench in this is some routes allow you to skip a mid boss, and the areas we need dwarf status or a key from a chest that might not be on this map.  We also can take quick travel into account to further optimize the movement.

After I'm done with these maps I'm going to make a spreadsheet for all the cooking and alchemy recipes.

I just finished my first Gwendolyn playthrough on hard with all S rankings and ended up with about 11.5 hours - so there's your filthy casual, even a little grindy, comparison time.  I went for a glass-cannon build because I was interested in how easy this would be and if it could apply to speedruns and my conclusion is "eh maybe."

The PS4 version of the game is entirely different in terms of maps and gameplay compared to the PS2 version.
