They told me that man couldn't break the sound barrier, but they did it. They told me that they couldn't get a man in space, but they did it. The told OOT cannot be beaten in under 5 hours....
I should also note in Dodongo's Cavern - I enter with 4 Deku Sticks.
On the Lizalfos rooms, I kill the first with 2 Sword Slashes + Deku Stick Jump Attack. I then go after the 2nd and do consecutive Jump Attacks because it WILL NOT run away if one Lizalfos dies.
Thus, I use 2 Deku Sticks on them, instead of 4 like before, and I have 2 left for King Dodongo.
I also get Deku Seeds because I am going to pwn Stalfos and Lizalfos later on rather than rely on luck.
Well, I'm just expecting the run to be much tighter with some more tricks and better optimization. I'm sure the Deku Tree will be the most entertaining dungeon of the Young Link section, and the Hyrule Castle Courtyard should also make some people go "oh wow".
Dodongo's Cavern is really just the same, with some optimizations and a few small tricks.
Jabu-Jabu's Belly is identical pretty much.
The Forest Temple is the same except better Stalfos battles, a trick used on the Poes to be quicker, and Crouch Stabbing Phantom Ganon.
Fire Temple I optimize the use of Farore's Wind (it didn't need to be used as much as I did).
Water Temple there is a whole new trick, which probably will be the most impressive of the run. Also, Crouch Stab will be used on Morpha.
Spirit Temple won't be that much more impressive except for the Young Link segment for the Iron Knuckle battle and Crouch Stab used on Twinrova.
Shadow Temple has two tricks I didn't previously use (spike damage boost and hookshot the ladder).
Ganon's Castle is pretty much the same, except I will have faster Lizalfos, Stalfos and Iron Knuckle battles.
Ganondorf battle will be faster.
Ganon battle will be slightly faster (Light Arrows hurt him more, but I will only get off 4 hits on him that way).
So, those are my main pick up spots, plus back walking in a lot of spots. Oh yeah, improved fighting strategy on the Gerudos in their fortress.
So, those are my main pick up spots, plus back walking in a lot of spots. Oh yeah, improved fighting strategy on the Gerudos in their fortress. _ Well I beat them the same way the stalfos should be beaten. Is there a big difference?
I've never used deku nuts... Get close and keep pressing the Hookshot button.
Depending if you want to do a run right away or not...I'll make a guide for every single movement needed and items needed to take out. I've been working on more then one game so once this is all done a few games are going to be very hard to beat.
There is a surefire way to stun Stalfos without the hookshot using Deku Nuts. I know the hook method you speak of, I just think it is a bit slower. I'll time both again and see which I can do faster.
There's a consistent way to quickly beat Stalfoses? Generally I find you can find a rhythm, striking with your sword at the instant they draw back to attack you. You can beat them very quickly that way, if you get the timing right. Is this faster?
The instant the "pop up", you toss a Deku Nut. The turn blue. You Jump attack the first, and toss another Deku Nut. Jump attack again then turn to the other and Jump attack. Toss another Deku Nut as you hit it to stun again. This is my strategy for 2v1 situations.
you can use arrows to damage the fire temple boss.
in the file selection, select options and select Z target HOLD, it's better. you can lock and unlock easier. the gray eye statues say that zelda experts use Z target HOLD.
ganon can be beaten faster... constantly stay under his legs, do jumpattacks with the megaton hammer. besides light arrows, deku nuts also stun him.
in gerudo's fortress, using hookshot on gerudos might be good... it stuns them. then jumpattack. it's fast if you stay close. deku nuts don't usually stun the gerudos.
maybe sidejumping should be practiced, it's faster than rolling. but this is like rolling: simple... it's not impressive.
wouldn't hylian shield be useful? it just takes a few seconds to buy it.
you don't need to jump in the water to avoid the guards before huryle castle. if you run close to the edge, they won't see you.
wouldn't it be good to use the bottle glitch... buy magic beans for example (since you don't use them anyway), then replace them with a bottle. 2 bottles would be useful in ice cavern, where you need to catch the blue flame.
or maybe get a legit bottle, the easy one in lon lon ranch.
the indestructible deku stick trick would be good. it's easy to do. just fall from somewhere and hit the wall with the deku stick while in the air. this happens because Link can't unequip the stick in air.
the indestructible deku sticks work in majora's mask also, they are 2 times stronger than the ordinary sword, but the gilded sword is a third stronger than the deku sticks. in oot, the deku sticks are as strong as master sword.
in the file selection, select options and select Z target HOLD, it's better. you can lock and unlock easier. the gray eye statues say that zelda experts use Z target HOLD.
Quick spinning is hard when you have to hold the Z button.
To do the Ganon battle faster, once you roll under him and hit his tail with the hammer or an arrow and later on with the sword, just roll back under him so that you are infront of him. Now, once he starts to take a swing at you, just roll under him again and hit his tail. Just repeat this until you kill him. I can do it without taking a hit, it's quiet simple.
Back walking is faster than side hopping. Hylian Shield I get when I go to get the Hookshot. Broken Deku Stick should be banned. Bottle Glitch should be banned. You don't need to jump in the water, but the current is so swift it is worth it at Hyrule Castle. Z-Hold is not viable for quick spins. Light Arrows on Ganon's tails is fastest way. Somebody explain to me using Arrows on Volvagia. When do I fire them?
I wasn't aware that you could fire arrows at Volvagia before, I vividly remember thinking that was the way you were supposed to beat him my first time around and failing miserably. I'll go back at give it another shot to see what I can find.
Very cool....The first I've never even bothered. The second is your way to the plus world in Jabu Jabu. I wonder if it is like the 90 degree walk through walls bug only horizontal. There are many places this applys to but evidently we haven't found them all. Then again here you can't bounce of the wall (jump attack) making it easier.
Arrows or hookshot on volvagia does not harm him. It effects him if you hit him in the head but it does nothing. The only thing it does it take more time to go back in the stage. Don't do that.
Z-Hold is not viable for quick spins- I always use hold though. But then again since when do you target the boss when you quick spin. --

Weird, back walking is indeed faster than side hopping (tested it) So, are you going to use that on Hyrule field if you try for sub 5 hours? It might save a few seconds.
Hm... why don't you like the broken deku stick glitch? I think it's really cool, once you learn how to do it.
Yeah, firing arrows on volvagia seems to be useless.
TSA, have you yet found a better strategy for the coins in the beginning to get the Deku Shield? Otherwise I have a good one.

The Jabu-Jabu spiritual stone glitch isn't useful for this run because princess Ruto is needed to be there for the cutscene to start.
Backwalk everywhere possible, Broken deku stick glitch is a timesaver in dodongos cavern on the lizards forgot the name atm. Jump attack against the wall or another platform swing at them then jump attack them. Low stab works but it is not as fast for a number of reasons. Check out the strategy for the rupee route: - ok....here is mine.... Backflip, run backwards, get 2 rupee from the tall grass, Run backwards up the incline backflip or hop on 2 fences...jump...roll jump off the next fence...6 rupees, Get Two in the grass after you crawl, Get Sword, Hit grass behind the sword, Go left get 6 rupees, go down and left 6 rupees...crawl out, Back flip 1 rupee, hit the bushes and the sign till 35 is reached, Back flip from the second sign and run backwards until your near the blocks then you can jump on all 3 of them, Get Deku Sheild, pull out your sword and jump attack onto the small block to the right then hop then jump to Mido. - Note: that the rupees will not always be in the plants so it may need to be redone a couple of times. It is quick if your fast cutting the bushes sometimes they will have 3 in one grass. Certainly a random factor which it is a good thing because it is at the start. If your new to it practice it slow. Which is for best future results.
If you do not Z-target the boss, the way I do quick spins, Link will gradually move out of the range of the boss. I have to Z-target to orient Link and keep him at bay.
