No, despite the game telling you goron bracelet has no effect on adult, you still need it to pick up certain things.

As for the hover boots thing, that appears in your slingshot bag/quiver spot, not strength spot, and is a result of skipping slingshot and going to adult.  It has no effect on anything.

Thanks -My goal was to reach the Fire Temple ASAP for my project, but on one playthrough in the PAL (EUR) version, I think my mind just went blank and I was freaked when I couldn't lift the crops.

it is rather odd that Link growing up doesn't enhance his ability to pick up stuff at all. that caught me off guard the first time i skipped all strength upgrades and became adult.

also, i'm a bit surprised the deku tree sprout thing wasn't known. i guess almost no one used VC heh.

Actually, in terms of a coding sense, it makes perfect sense.  why code up adult link to have the ability to pick up bomb flowers when you 'know' that he's going to have the goron's bracelet anyway?  It would just be redundant/

Waking up the OoT thread is probably worth doing right now. The folks over at ZSR started a collaborative 100% speed run of this game last year (still in progress), which they will eventually submit to SDA for verification. Since they're running it on the VC version of the game, the runners are sharing files. Has it already been determined whether this kind of run is acceptable?

Is the VC version a different category? If not, I think this run will be in the same category as Yautja's run. Multiplayer runs are only a different category if there's more than one player at a time.

As long as consistency is maintained between segments there's no problem with this. It's the same idea as mailing the Wii back and forth to each other except with less postage.

I have a glitch question for the temple of time doors.
I never truly understood how to get in the temple of time without any stones.
I watched several videos, and read descriptions but never got anywhere.

First, can you get in with crooked cartage? I'm not doing a speedrun, just trying to get in any way I can without cheats(got no gameshark).
Anyways, in all the videos they say to do a sidejump glitch, but never understood that part.





< I can't do this at all.
I'm thinking if I can at least do this special hob, then maybe I have a chance at getting through the door.

the trick's most critical part is being able to hold the correct position in the stick to pull off the sideways backflip. if you can't get that, you won't be able to bypass the DoT.

Does that mean Pheenoh's run isn't a world record? Or does that simply mean that this run is improvable? If there is an RTA with a lower time I'd love to see it. Regardless of what the case may be, it's indisputable that this run can be improved. However, it's also indisputable that in 100% especially, the twice-as-slow English text costs several minutes because of unskippable cutscenes and an otherwise identical Japanese run would probably clock in somewhere around 6:12, if not faster (though this is a very rough estimate).

cant remember exactly how much time jp saves, but in mst i remember it being around 11 minutes (75% sure of this), so a 100% would probably be maybe 20 min or something lol

edit: pheenoh's run is awesome, because it uses the n64 version. there are improvements to be made, but its a very good run.

It is the English world record. I have no idea if a faster run has been done on Japanese, though. Runnerguy2489, ZFG and I have all agreed to run this category on English.

Regardless, this can still be improved by quite alot. I know RG plans on working on it after AGDQ2 and ZFG already started on it a few days ago. So you guys can expect a faster run from one of us three in the near future. Smiley
