Ouch, I hate it when that happens. How exactly did you break them? BTW, get titanium framed glasses next, they are WAY more durable. I once broke 4 pairs of glasses in one week (counting the ones that I had technically already bought but the lady broke them right before handing them to me while adjusting them) and in the end settled on titanium frames. They are cool looking and haven't broken yet (although I need new lenses soon as my eyesight sucks a lot).

I will probably get lenses as a backup if the new glasses breaks. I dunno how they did borke, though... they just... fell apart. Tongue

I've got some good news and some bad news on the run...

The good news is that Acryte found a trick that'll let me skip half of the Deku Tree.

The bad news is that if I just redo segment 4 with the trick, I will spend one less slingshot bullet, so the next segment will start with 28 instead of 27. I could of course shoot one extra somewhere... I'll probably do that on the skulltula, I wont lose any time...

I know, it's just that I don't want to redo segments 6, 7 and 8. Tongue

I must be obsessed with running this game... even though I could hardly see I did some attempts at segment 8. I sat like one inch from the TV and my eyes hurt afterwards... the good thing is that I managed to improve it by maybe 10 seconds and it's going to be the final time on this segment. The Barinade battle was a few seconds slower but still acceptable, everything else was done a little faster, besides lighting torches.

Oh, and not a word on that bubble. Before that sucessful segment, I had 9 tries in a row where I backwalked past both bubbles perfectly, but all were failed attempts. Even if I turn around and roll, I'll very often get hit by a bubble. The segment must be cursed or something. Roll Eyes

Anyway...

Segment 8, Part 1 (new)

Segment 8, Part 2 (new)
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Comments:

-The bub-*is shot*

-Up to Barinade was fast.

-Barinade was slower, but still good.

-Torch lighting lost a couple seconds.

-That Octorok hit cost a little time.

-If you move forward a little before the boomerang reaches you when you're getting the Heart Pieces, does that help or does it just mess up their positioning?

Good segment overall.

Heh, that has happened to me before, when sometimes the screw holding in the ear part things will just fall out Tongue

I'm currently loading up part one of the new segment 8, I already watched the original last night and it was pretty good.
Hehe, it's definately better. You lost some time with the tourches and getting hit but nothing bad. Well done Smiley

Only thing though is...have you made the right choice buying a 3rd magic bean now that shadow early (and therefore the piece of heart) is possible without it?
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.

You should do it while waiting for Gohma to drop.

It probably doesn't. I dunno why I didn't do it, I just didn't think of it, or I didn't want to mess up because of the slightly different movement when the boomerang is flying.

I'm pretty sure it'll save time, since I have to go up there twice.

Good idea.

I will do some more attempts at segment 9 today.
Speed is the key.
That cucco jump is giving me a headache... the line up for the jump is easy and the jumpslash is a piece of cake... but the jump I find extremely hard. I finished one sucessful attempt where I failed the jump once but got it on my second try.

Unless I find a way to make the jump easier, this will have to be my final segment 9...

2nd attempt is still good. TSA was talking about having up to 5 tries even for segmented. The gate skip is insanely hard for 1st try, and for the kind of lengthy segments that you're doing it's still good. However, i suggest to upload it so i can give you a final opinion on it.

I guess, but it's a really short segment, and there was some other small mistakes in it too (can't check atm).

I'll probably upload it later.
not sure if this is known, but when getting the gold skultilla atop the watchtower in kakariko, you can also get the heart piece from the guy on the roof very quickly.  just continue climbing to the top of the tower after getting the token, face toward the middle of town, then sidehop left to land on top of the high fence.  then just hop to the roof and talk to the guy.

Yup, known, but it's faster to longshot there. Wink

I'm still attempting segment 9, but I haven't been able to do too much. I'll probably nail it tomorrow, though.

Now that the hover glitch is been found, it's probably possible to cross the gap in water temple, get the longshot and therefore skip the hookshot. I'm pretty sure skipping a race with dampe will save time, so you just race him once for the piece of heart. That is, if there's somehow into the water temple without using the hookshot.

That wouldn't change the route much, either. Just don't enter the grave on the adult first segment and instead go directly to the shadow temple. In the later segment where you go to the graveyard for the piece of heart and then race dampe for the piece of heart, just extend it a bit more so that you go to the windmill and get the song of storms/piece of heart there.
Stand: Devil's Call in your Heart
entering the water temple without hookshot involves boundary violations.

it would be interesting to know what happens if you race dampe after getting the longshot. will he still give you the hookshot? (and thus, overwrite the longshot, like how you can erase silver gauntlets if you pick goron bracelet after them)
If you get the longshot before the hookshot you can't get the hookshot anymore. You'll just get the piece of heart.
Stand: Devil's Call in your Heart
oh i see

but i bet you would still waste lots of time entering the temple without hookshot.

it would be a cool trick to show off in a glitch run (kinda like SW runs in the metroid prime games)
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.

Uh, no. Darunia will act like he's already given you the Goron Bracelet.

Damn, shame I didn't know about this earlier... I wont go back and redo two segment because of it, though. It's not that big a time loss.

Manocheese: Good idea, but I know at least one place in the water temple (before the longshot) where I need the hookshot. Besides, it would take much longer to get past places where you'd need the hookshot.

I'm doing forest before water and I don't even want to think about completing that temple without the hookshot. Tongue
How about do water before forest then?
Speed is the key.
Urgh...

Chance is we do something that'll ruin the run... I think it's best if I stick with this route... it's very complicated and we'd also have to replan the biggoron's sword sidequest to a probably slower route that involves much more traveling.

I don't know if it's faster though, that would depend how much time is lost by not having the hookshot at water temple. You'll also have to warp to lake hylia after forest to get the fire arrows, but that shouldn't take too long. Also, i never completed the game with all skulltulas, so if the skulltulas before water temple can't be gotten without hookshot then skipping it is out of the question...
Everybody loves Hypnotoad!
There is no way into the Water Temple without the hookshot.

I think that we should just stick with the current route.

Huh? I thought there was a boundary glitch.
