Heres an alternate route that i was thinking about in order to skip the lon lon milk... I am watching the master sword cutscene and will test as soon as im done.

Everything in ZFG's route till DoT skip (minus talon and the lon lon milk)

-Kakariko for pocket egg, hookshot and shield
-RBA egg for quiver*
-RBA pocket cucco for black guantlets
-Get cojiro (dont RBA)
-Get odd mush/odd potion
-Get poachers saw and RBA for songs
-Play Nocturne and go to DC
-Get through DC up to bombs**
-Warp to ToT with Prelude or save (but youll have to steal the rod again if you do)
Follow the rest of ZFG's guide from stealing epona

*This is where the route could fall apart if the egg hatches before you RBA with it
**It might seem like this would add alot of time but it doesnt as adult link cant grab onto the platform near the bomb bag without the need to hover...

-cojiri gives you the quiver, not the egg.
-you need more than 1 bomb to steal epona

I just finished my test run with my route (not actually finished, I'm in the tower but pretty much same thing) and it works 100%
The bomb bag from DC gives you 20 bombs... and according to the cosmo RBA chart the egg does give you a quiver

Cosmo's page actually lists both the Pocket Egg and Cojiro as items that can give you a quiver.

Nevertheless, DC seems pretty long even as AL, and RBA with Cojiro can give you a quiver AND a bomb bag.

EDIT:  Beaten.
Eeeeyah!
I just got done beating DC with Adult Link. (Up to Bomb Bag) I got 2:44. (2 Minutes and 44 seconds.) I stopped timing it right after the Bomb Bag text ended. That's pretty fast and I'm now starting to think this would be faster than RBAing 29 Bombs with Milk. We would still use Cojiro though, but after getting the Bomb Bag from DC so we don't just get 1 bomb.

Sorry, I forgot that you wouldn't have any other bomb bag and assumed you would just get 1 bomb which is what happens when you do have a bomb bag.

Still I doubt its faster.  Earlier bombs let you superslide more which saves lots of time and allows you to skip the fairy ocarina.  And I've been able to get to the fishing pond before the egg hatches, but never been able to do RBA before it hatches.  A TAS might be able to do it, but console would be near impossible.

Edit: Ok, we need someone to time both routes to see which is faster.
I just found out that theres no problem with using cojiro to RBA the quiver and bomb bag, except that you cannot buy anymore bombs afterwards because the RBA erases the 20 bomb bag. That still leaves you with 20 bombs though so its fine if thats enough

That's plenty enough we only need about 10 bombs for the run.

ZFG about your route, instead of going back to Kakoriko with the Odd Mushroom by supersliding in Hyrule Field. I think it would be faster to go back to Goron city  and hookshot up to the top. Then we would just jump off down to the Kakoriko Village. Then we would jump onto that Red roof by jumping off that ledge next to it and grabbing onto it. Then continue to Old Hags potion shop.
oh wow i forgot one main time saver that this route affords you. The magic is in a more convenient place.

-Get through DC up to bombs**
Get magic
-Warp to ToT with Prelude or save (but youll have to steal the rod again if you do)
Follow the rest of ZFG's guide from stealing epona

Some guy
Dammit, Link rolls to the right when I try the DoT skip. Every single fricken time. Also, he rolls too far forward if I start it with a sidehop instead of a backflip.  Angry

I should be able to get it by walking diagonally backwards and left to get the roll to the left. Of course it requires a different angle, which I haven't worked out yet.

EDIT: Just read Kazooie's post on page 236 again. I guess I'll work it out eventually.

Who knows which one will end up being faster. It does seem very close though since each route has its ups and downs...
could somone make a test run of there route recorded and uploaded to youtube or something? It would be cool if I got to see it all done, and it might help me understand it all.
torch slug since 2006
I would like to see a test run through just like Juice mentioned on any console. But a TAS-test would also be cool. With the test run, I just wanna see someone beating the games with the 2 diffrent routes.
Zelda Rulez!
As I can see you guys have done much new stuff. Route also look good. I like to see too which route is faster and other thing is that too maybe I will move back to DKC3 soon Cheesy

Good job guys with this!!!!
@ZAR
I guess that would be a safer way to incorporate my route change since it doesnt hinge on what time you leave kakariko to get to the lake. Just one thing

Exit Kakoriko
Superslide to Forest (19 bombs left)
Bomb Hover over Lost Wood Bridge (18 bombs left)
Show Odd Potion to Kokiri Girl to get Poachers Saw

You cant use bomb hover because you cant have the sword on B
I don't know much about RBA, but is there any way to get Longshot with it? It would be very useful such as skipping Epona and skipping Hookshot (maybe).

Ive thought about that but no... there is no way to RBA anything into your item screen besides bottles...
You can get into the water temple and use the bomb bag on c-right glitch to get 20 water temple small keys(essentially skip the dungeon), but you would still have to fight dark link and I believe that stealing epona would be much faster

Ok, I looked it over and it does look like ZAR's route is faster by just a little.  I didn't time it, I'm just saying it looks faster.  We still need someone to time it.

Mp16, so far the only thing we can do with RBA is equipment, quest status and item amounts, can't get items with it...yet.

I just finished testing my route change(see ZAR's post for the full route) and it works. Im not sure whether ZFG's milk method is faster or my DC bombs method, but in my opinion the DC adds the extra wow factor that the DoT skip allows. Plus i love the black guantlets Grin

Which ever route a speedrunner takes however is gonna be awsome though so once again kudos to Samo, Kazooie, and AKA

Actually, with that savewarp after hookshot, theres a much better chance of being able to do BA with the egg.  Not sure if that will save any time.

Also its faster to buy arrows from the bazaar.  Cheaper too.

When i tested the two theories, I found that there is really no difference between the two, except that if you use the egg, you can buy bombs later on. For a speedrun, however, 20 bombs is more than enough to finish.

EDIT: After you steal the rod the first time you should fall into the river near kakariko instead of the drained lake to get Deku sticks on B and save some time. Its to difficult to do this with the egg because it will hatch. As a result its definitely faster, and easier to use cojiro
This statue's one-eyed gaze pierces into your mind
IIRC you dont need to go in water, just dim the B button. so walking up the ladder right outside of lake hylia on the way to kakariko should work fine.

I did a little timing and it looks like we should easily be able to get under an hour, maybe even under 55 Cheesy (used ZAR's route).
Eeeeyah!
Wow that's awesome.  Grin The only way OoT can be improved by alot now is to  find a way to skip Ganondorf. (Skips Magic, Medalions, Light Arrows, and Songs) Or if we can find a way to RBA Magic, and Light Arrows into the inventory. Skipping Ganondorf sounds the most likely to happen though.

Not to be a pest but shouldnt i get some credit here? I thought of how to skip the lon lon milk with black guantlets+DC bomb bag method...

ZAR combined my method with your route so we should all get  some credit
Eeeeyah!
Something that should be added to the Route would be to put a Death Warp in DC after getting the bomb bag. It'd make it much quicker to get out of the dungeon since we can't save to the entrance.
