I'll see what I can manage insofar as solutions are concerned.  I think you can get that one as a kid with bombs so you could just use a Bombchu there when you go back to Gerudo Valley.

Don't forget that it requires Din's Fire or Fire Arrows.

Petrie911: Thanks for the tip. The skulltulas I forgot were in Gerudo Valley and the Lost Woods.

Fierce: Good DL strategy.
That Skulltulla is making a problem of itself, big time.  Hmm, stuff will either have to be rearranged so we do it with Din's Fire or we'll have to make a trip there after Fire Temple.  Both are slow options.  I think we can put the trip to Gerudo Valley II off until after we get Din's Fire pretty easily; the owlwarp will just be used to go back to the Market to get the Spooky Mask.

What about just playing the Serenade as an adult after you've got the hammer, then go there and get the skulltula + take care of the Gerudo stuff. Might mess up the poe collection.
The thing is that that would probably entail time loss whereas the kid thing is just rearranging.  I don't think you lose anything by putting Gerudo Valley II off.

If that works, I'm glad. Smiley

Otherwise, it wouldn't be a time loss, since I will re-enter the Water Temple after Fire Arrows, and end the segment. If I don't just divide the water temple into multiple parts.

I've got my DVD recorder now. As soon as I've figured out how to get it to record from AV1, and when the route problem gets solved, I'm good to go. Tongue

The first segments wont matter though, so I'll do them as soon as I get this thing to work properly.

*glares at DVD recorder*
So you're done with practice runs?  I'll post a final, updated route later on today.
Speed is the key.

I'll get it from the Bottom of the Well (Yes, there is actually a chest containing a Hylian shield down there, right next to a gs). Smiley

Quote:
Swim to faraway island(gs51)

Changed my mind again you see... I'll get it on my second visit to the lake, like in your original plan. I wont play the Sun's Song between the HP/Gold Scale. The randomness is gonna kill me, but I've already done it twice. Cheesy

Quote:
Decend Zora's River(gs44, Piece of Heart near entrance, Piece of Hear near frogs, 3X Magic Beans)

This'll wait till I get there the second time.

Backwalk to Goron City
Goron City collection time(piece of heart in spinning pot, gs34, bomb bag expansion)
Ascend Death Mountain(Magic Meter, gs36)
Owlwarp
Piece of heart on ledge connected to building(piece of heart)
Backwalk back to market(Skull Mask)
Enter Hyrule Castle Area(gs19, Din's Fire)
Savewarp

I'll make two segments out of this (re-enter DC and save/quit).

Quote:
Kokiri Forest Skulltulla(gs1)

This skulltula I'll get in the same segment as I'm doing the first trip to Lake Hylia, it will be night then, I promise. Wink

Quote:
Enter graveyard
Last time to get Hylian Shield
Enter Dampe's grave and finish race(Hookshot)
Exit to Windmill; do not get crushed by the door
Windmill(Song of Storms, Piece of Heart)
Hookshot to the roof of Impa's house(gs27)
Return to graveyard

Here, there will be a major change. I'll get the Heart Piece in the crate first, then I'll go into Dampé's grave and get the Hookshot. I'll get crushed by the door and then exit the grave, then do Shadow early and Save/quit.

Quote:
Segment 19:

Backwalk to Zora's River
Ascend Zora's River(gs45, gs46)
Enter Zora's Domain and go back to Zora's Fountain
Navigate the ice for a heart piece and get the far flung skulltulla(heart piece, gs50, Faeroe's Wind)
Enter Ice Cavern -> Save and Quit

In the beginning of this segment I will do the second Dampé race, get the Hp in the windmill + Song of Storms, then the skulltula on the roof in Kakariko. Then everything is fine. Wink

Quote:
Forest Temple(Bow, gs64, gs65, gs66, gs67, gs68, Heart Container, Forest Medallion)
Savewarp

I can tell you one thing, that temple is gonna get slaughtered. Grin

Quote:
Re-enter Water Temple and Save and quit*(loses time)

Yeah, yeah... Tongue

I might be able to get around it if I save warp to the entreance of the temple just before the boss.

Quote:
Activate Scarecrow's Song(Piece of Heart on lab's roof)

I get this HP when I'm delivering the Eyeball frog.

[quote]Complete Gerudo's Fortress(Gerudo Membership, Piece of Heart atop fortress, gs90, gs91)
Horseback archery(piece of heart, arrow capacity upgrade)
Gerudo Training Grounds(Ice Arrows)
Savewarp

Segment 26.5:

The game counts the Training Ground as a dungeon. I will enter it before the archery game and save, then save warp to the entreance before doing the archery game (insurance).

Quote:
Longshot to rooftops(Piece of Heart)

I'll get this when delivering the mushroom.

Quote:
Give prescription to King Zora(gs47, Eyeball Frog)

I get the skulltula after thawing King Zora.

Quote:

I'm gonna ask Radix if he'll allow the Zora's Domain -> Lake Hylia glitch warp, if he does, I'll use it.

Quote:
Goto Graveyard(piece of heart we couldn't get because of shadow early)
Beat Dampe in a race(Piece of Heart)
Savewarp

I wont need to do this if I do what I posted above. Cheesy

My DVD recorder works and doesn't lag, so I will start recording today, but I wont upload anything till I get some DVD-RW's (Currrently recording to the built in hard-drive).

Speed is the key.
I've been running segment 2 (40 rupees, Deku Shield) for about 4 hours straight now... My question is, how the hell do I get those bushes to drop a total of 4 rupees?!

Most of the time I slash every single bush and they drop 0 rupees.

Sometimes 1 bush drops 3 rupees, but then the others drop 0.

I have only been able to get the bushes to drop 4 rupees 5 times, and one of those attempts was half succesful after that, due to the lack of training in that area, since I almost never get past those bushes. The others were crap.

I have it recorded, I'll upload it tomorrow if I can get a hold of some DVD-RW's.

Is there some certain trick to get the bushes to drop rupees or should I continue trying to manipulate luck? :-/

He's back!
Ah the ruppee area, which is probally the most intensley skilled area in the game, its definitley worth spending time on this. What time are you going for anyway? Just make up your own strats, as you don't have to neccesscarily copy what me and TSA do. Unless you ultimatley want to better what me and TSA can do. I could test on Mupen, but I think the bushes are set depending on what frame you enter the tunnel, which means its almost impossible to manipulate anything good.
Edit history:
YautjaElder: 2006-06-21 04:57:36 pm
Speed is the key.
When I'm entering the Kokiri Sword area, I'm 1,5-2 seconds ahead of TSA in his latest vid.

When I'm exiting the Kokiri Sword area, I'm 3,5-4 seconds ahead of TSA in his latest vid.

This was timed roughly, using a stopwatch, so it may be inaccurate. And I don't really care about who is the fastest to enter the tunnel and so on, but I'm quite satisfied with my results so far... the only thing that's stopping me is those bushes. Angry

Edit: I just realized... I'm using the GC version, TSA's using the N64 version... there is probably a time difference.

Speed is the key.
I managed a 2:10 rupee run (from start till shield) and I'm gonna keep it as segment 2. I mean, I have been speedrunning OoT for 2 days and I get 1 second slower than TSA. Not that bad, eh? Tongue

There is one mistake between Link's Hut and the shield, you'll see it when I upload it, lost a second from it. The rest of the time loss came from the bushes not giving me the perfect setup of rupees (had to slash 5 bushes, lol).

I can always redo this segment in the future, if I feel like it.

Next is Deku Tree.
Yeah, it's probably the only segment that you and TSA can compare  Grin

2 days is not bad at all!  I'm looking forward to this run.

Very watchable.
