Well, if you have an N64 emulator and OoT ROM, you can use L. Spiro's MHS to watch the memory addresses. Should be able to tell you what corresponds to what.
Could any 1 link me with all the glitches??? I can't seem to get the quick shadow to work (not the bombchu the backflip bomb thing on top of whats his faces house)
I keep falling can't get the timing and I need some help =/ I am trying to perfect this speed running thing i'm new at it but i wanna be awesome none the less
Reaching a proficiency in OoT where you can speed run it is not some small task that you can finish in an afternoon. If you're expecting that, it would be best to pursue something else.
Never claimed it to be, took me 3 fucking hours to do the simple spider glitch in the deku tree... I'm just looking for the full glitch page with maybe some tips ?? My timing is getting better but it's frustrating to say the least. I'm not trying to do it in 1 afternoon =D I spent a year doing Super Mario 64 >.>
#edit
Btw I've been playing this game since it's realease I can do it in a few hours, it takes a lot of dedication which I can handle. I'm in love with the game and am trying to IMPROVE on skill level this way =)
I CAN NOT GET THE TIMING RIGHT ON THE QUICK SHADOW TEMPLE GLITCH....
every time i can get 2 bombs up countin gin my head... 1.2.3....
BUT the 3rd bomb hurts me EVERY time....
any POINTERS I know it'll take a while i've been doin gthis 1 part for 5 hours and I STILL can't get it to work... I'm just hoping some one might be able to lead me into the right direction
Don't time it in your head, use link as your timer. When you pull out a bomb, look at links breathing patterns. He breaths in, exhales, inhales, and when he starts to exhale again, shield drop the bomb and backflip. Works every time ;).
Over a year ago I also had a vast interest in this game and doing all of these glitches. I actually went through every page of the old topics to find where certain tricks were explained because I didn't want to bother anyone.
Just saying, if you are dedicated, it's all here already. But here was a page I went to a lot.
yea the breathing thing is a good tip... I never really used it, kinda just know the timing and from practice... learning on doing forest early as kid with bombs (which was a beast). Goodluck with that, I'm glad to help with whatever questions you have, best of luck. If people seem short about the prospect of new runners trying out OoT it's because we have a 98% turnover rate for people who start runs or show up without establishing some credibility over time, so people are kinda used to this thing and they don't expect much. But best of luck, OoT isn't really that hard if you spend some time learning... it's just that there's a million things to learn and only like 50% of your OoT knowledge and manipulation is even gonna make it into a run... there is just so much to know. Tricks getting replaced by new ones, whole route changes and whatnot. And the fact that the OoT community at SDA has a VERY HIGH standard for runs... we can come off as being a little elitist, but I think that as long as it doesn't shy people away from running it, then the final product will be excellent and highly appreciated.
I would appreciate it if someone would create some sort of mind reading device and connect it to the brains of those who know a lot about OoT.
I think it would help a lot k thx.
There is something so brilliant about playing OoT. I mean just now I played the game for a few minutes and found out how to make a dungeon stay very bright using an armos.
I'm actually progressing nicely. My initial goal atm is just to complete the game using the currently known glitches and tricks. I got over the fence after being caught twice :/ but I finally figured out the angling (thanks for the video btw) and In a few hours i've pretty much memorized the haunted wasteland :/ damn monster (i can't remember their names) knocked me back into the wasteland as i was about to hit the desert collosus
but after I can complete I'm gonna work on my speed and continue after I know how to do everything atleast once. I'm practicing (got on the seam with bombs to get to shadow early) mis-stepped and screwed up but i did get up there i think 3 times (which was just to see if i can do it) But overall I think it's a nice challenge and I believe it'll work out great (sorry if i came on n00bish but I've usually played most games straight through, except for mario 64, it was the first game i ever even tried speed runs and it was a TAS and i'm not tasing LoZ OoT
This statue's one-eyed gaze pierces into your mind

Something I forgot to say last time, you should add what c right bottled items affect what item amounts (i.e, fairy = deku stick, fish = deku nut etc).
if you do a jump slash at an angle of the ladder and the statue, link lands on top and allows him to get onto the ledge with out the moving the statue (u have to step on button but it's a bit faster i think
btw :S the fucking bombchu levitation is harder then it looks, at first i was able to do it once but then mess up but now i can't even do it one time =/ maybe wii is just slow
it's wha ti'm doing and NOPE thats not it you don't walk up the ladder with a well aimed jump slash you land on the statue and jump right up to the ledge

... Bombchu hover isnt hard. its a little harder as kid than adult, but the steps are simple: -activate infinite sword glitch -pull out sling shot and aim -backflip -shield-drop bombchu It requires some practice, but its not hard at all. maybe your just doing something wrong Oh, and thanks for saying youd watch my run. that made me more confident

Its faster with a backflip.
If you're having trouble with hovering, its probably because you're releasing the seed before bckfliping. You always have to release the seed directly after backflipping so you will get the smaller backflip so the bombchu will hit your shield.
Samoht, anything with "Zelda" in the title will get a crapload of views, especialy when it also has "Ocarina of Time" beside it ;).
