Awesome Marathon so far, the only thing I noticed would be - having an overlay to show who is currently talking would be awesome (Like the Teamspeak Overlay)... Don't know if that's possible though ^^
As far as I know it would have to be the person that's getting restreamed and I don't think it would work with console games. Might work with emulator but I know you can see an overlay of who is in the channel and talking for PC games.
Bonus stream is still going on, but this marathon was a ton of fun. Hopefully the stream chat for AGDQ can take some lessons from this one; it was a blast!
Thanks everyone who watched a donated~

Really?  I streamed after it ended and got pretty much nothing but complaints about the chat.  *shrug*

Let me put it like this - the chat was interesting. It's highly likely, that a fair amount of people don't like that type of chat (including me) - mostly those that would like to have decent discussions, pointing out actually awesome things, asking questions and similar things.

The chat was basically the type of chat you see everywhere on Twitch.tv - the face-spamming, meme-spamming and phrase-spamming crowd. The one difference from the other Twitch-chats was, that the commentators actually had it under control for the most part - I didn't see anything actually negative things (~racism or similar stuff). The people were not trolling, they were actually enjoying the whole show. Imagine the commentators being entertainer for the average-crowd-person, I think that's fairly accurate - they actually encouraged that behaviour

I personally didn't like it, but I can accept that this is the standard nowadays, and I simply stayed away from it... Which leads me to a thought: I don't think we could prevent this type of chat at AGDQ without excessive moderation. And even if, as I said - these people were genuinely having fun and their intention was not malicious. I'd like to have a secondary chat which would be advertised as being more "on topic" and "no spam" etc.

Awesome Marathon overall though Smiley

This was by far the best twitch chat I've seen in a marathon, and it was absolutely easy to follow and hold a conversation outside of a few moments (emoticon shoutouts, typing of the dead) but it's all in good fun. Only moderating the major spam was the best choice to make. Excessive moderation would have turned the chat into shit, and I hope everyone can understand why.

You're not going to get a 'civil' chat like you'd see in the common speedrunning streams when you have this many viewers. This is exactly how the AGDQ chats should be run.

edit: It also really, really helped when the streamers themselves engaged in chat discussion. This is probably the #1 reason why chat was excellent. Having this at a marathon (a monitor/projector just showing chat) is a good idea.
I was actually able to answer questions from the chat and have discussions among the beloved viewers that were there.

So those that were complaining in my stream were liars, then?
Did you see the chat? Why would you base your opinion on complaints from people who may or may not have participated?

Saw some.  Saw about 2000 dog faces in the very short time I looked at chat at various times.  Most didn't even want to participate in the chat because of, in their opinion, how bad the chat was.

As I said - it's a matter of opinion. Some like that style, others don't

That's why I take umbrage to, "This is exactly how the AGDQ chats should be run."

Yagamoth made a good point earlier, I'd prefer a second more secluded chat, maybe one on IRC meant for SDA/SRL folks?

On the other hand, the people who like to spam FrankerZ had a blast and I wouldn't take it away from them since it's kind of how hype works...
I really think people should go into a marathon stream chat with the mentality that they're not going to be able to have intelligent discussions in there. Face facts: the majority of TwitchTV stream monsters love to spam. Speaking as a chat moderator from this marathon, I found the atmosphere a lot more fun when the chat was allowed to just go crazy. If you have moderators looming over the chat with their fingers on the ban button, you create an air of unpleasantness that makes people not want to participate, or to continue to attempt to piss off the mods because it's fun. Not to say I didn't ban anyone; there were people who deserved a ban and got it, for being assholes or for posting inappropriate links or whatever.

This was my favorite marathon.

.
This is not how the AGDQ chat will be run, fyi. We won't be using twitch at all, so no face spamming. Cheering will definitely be allowed though, however spammers will be actioned against, and we reserve the right to silence the chat if things get too out of hand.
I did see the chat, and it was, how you say, "god f_cking awful".  Kudos to those who will be running the AGDQ chat for planning to actually moderate the idiots out, which the chat in question definitely did not bother to do whatsoever.

You see, and that's where i see a 'small' problem - many people that watched this marathon will want to go into the AGDQ marathon expecting something similar.

This won't stop people typing Kappa and FrankerZ or whatever twitch face they can unless you outright ban the words.

I saw no idiots. Only people that were really in the spirit of getting hyped and having fun. People love to go nuts.

Uh, the only possible response to this is: lol.  If you saw no idiots then I question whether or not you were actually watching that fuckfest.  The trolling was ridiculous, the face spamming idiotic, the meme spamming even more so, but most of all the complete lack of moderation ruined that chat completely.

You can be hype all you want, you don't have to resort to stupid bullshit in order to express it.
well it looks like we have differing opinions on the matter. stream monsters gonna monster

That's what mods are for.  Of course, "stream monster" has a variety of definitions, but yours is the kind of person I'd just ban from stream chat if I were moderating it.
I was actually a moderator in the chat and I was in there for a huge majority. There was hardly any trolling. I guess you didn't "get it." I think we went the right direction by making all welcome instead of trying to limit who we want to participate.

That's your opinion, and you're entitled to it.  Personally, I think unruly dipshits should be muzzled.
