a swedish guy ( Neophyte ) can beat this game in 14 minutes almost. On the PAL version. I don´t know how fast this is but I told him to record a run... Will see if he do that...

And Arctic_eagle: great in the short period you played the game =)

Thanks Frezy man. 14 minutes on PAL sounds excellent!

If anyone knows of any ways to improve the time of my Ninja Gaiden II run, please let me know.

During jumping attack animations you move backwards at normal speed (1.5 pixels/frame :p) This may save a little time at the top of walls you have to clear.

Unlike the other NG games, you can keep moving during standing special attack animations in NG2. It didn't look like you took full advantage of this in your run.

Try to save at least one fire wheel for the head on the final boss. Should only take 2-4 sword hits to finish it off. But this might waste too much time on the first 2...

Though NG2 is generally regarded as the easiset of the three, I'd consider it the most difficult to speedrun since you have to be much more precise with jumping attacks.

No big time savers... Maybe some of this can be of some use.

When you climb down from the screen to get to a new screen/area. Jump down on the wall a bit. Too much would be very risky

Thanks, Frezy_man.  I will definitely try to do this.

Somewhere when you jump down in a hole to reach the next area there is spikes on the wall. I know it looks cool. But hang on the spikes is not faster Tongue

This actually happened by accident.

Disagree. But I can be wrong Wink

I'm not understanding what you're talking about here.

So I don't have to stop at all when I use a subweapon?  I have to push up on the D-pad to use a subweapon, so how can I push up and right at the same time?

By the way, your TAS run of Ninja Gaiden II is stellar.

Sorry, I was having clarity issues yesterday. Um, when moving to the right for example, pressing left while in the air moves Ryu much more slowly. But not during attack animations (just like up+down+left or left+right as seen in a TAS). what i meant was you could try pressing B after the last jump when climbing to the top of a wall to save a wee bit of time... but now that i think about it, you'd probably just end up grabbing the wall again. I should've tested it myself before bringing it up here.

Ack, sorry again. what I meant to say was you only need to stop long enough to press up; it just looked like you stopped a bit too long at some points in the run.

Anyway, here's something that might actually be useful that I forgot to mention in my last post: get the scroll in 3-2d rather than 3-2c. Don't have to slow down for that one.

Thanks Smiley I just submitted a new one so check it out. But don't expect to get any useful tips from it. Wink

That's an awesome tip.  It saves me about two seconds.  Thanks!

I'll definitely watch your new TAS run soon.
I'm a digital dreamer, baby.
Finally had time (and remembered lol) to watch the NG1 and NG2 runs... Very nice.  There were alot of tough spots in the two and I really liked the abuse of hit-invincibility, as well as hit boosts.  As was said before this isn't the case with NG3 unfortunately where hit boosting was "nerfed".

NG1, well timed everything.  I really liked this run, and d+B is suhweet. Cheesy

NG2, spacing and use of clones was awesome.  Since it was the first time watching it, I really liked the movement/ gap jumping in the dark in 3-1, and throughout the run the use of fire wheel as well.

I just recorded a new Ninja Gaiden II run in 12:10.  This run is 35 seconds faster than my previous run, so I'm pretty stoked.

My improved Ninja Gaiden II run is up.

I'm thinking about trying to improve Frezy's Ninja Gaiden III run.  The controls and hit detection aren't as good in III, and Ryu's floatiness in III annoys me, so I don't know if I'll attempt this run or not.
Talk to the Hand
Either way, nice NGII improvement. Very impressive run!
bläää
yeah. Very impressive. Your run for ng2 is extremely smooth and awsome and the new strategy for the last bosses is great. I can´t see how to beat this one with more then a few second for now. congrats man =D

On the other hand. The ninja gaiden 3 speedrun can be improved a lot. Look at earlier posts from me. You can see other strategy's there I think.
Cigar Man
I practiced the first three stages of Ninja Gaiden III last night.  I don't think I'll be able to improve Frezy's time on the first stage.  On the second stage, I might be able to knock off about two seconds.

On the third stage, however, I'll be able to save a significant amount of time (about 10 seconds).  I'll skip the sword upgrade and use a slightly different strategy for the boss: instead of dodging the throwing stars, I'll take the damage and simply keep hacking away at the boss until he moves to the upper level. At that point, I'll unleash fire wheels.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
You can improve Frezy_man's time in the first stage if you don't get hit by the boss and kill him in one pass (yes, it's possible).

I think the second boss can be done slightly faster too, but IIRC, he's kind of random.

OK.  I can beat the first boss in one pass now.

The second boss does have random flight patterns.  If he happens to fly where I want him to, I can beat him four seconds faster than Frezy_man did in his run.

I've been working on stage four, and I can beat it about 13 seconds faster.

nice, nice.. And as I said earlier in the forum. Sub 15 is possible Tongue

If you feel for a good challenge.
Just watched NG1 run and wanna give props to tmont, really great run and i enjoyed it alot.

Alot of nice moves, i loved the parts where multiple mobs wanna smack you in the face but you jump between 2 of them and killl one and high-kick the bastards to the moon. I liked the flow of the run, good avoiding and killing. clapclap

Bosses seemed pretty hard Cheesy one attack (down+slash tactic) and KABOOM!

One of the best speed runs i've seen. IMO
Not going to school today
Thanks raBies, I'm glad you liked it.

I'm not sure what that means, but it's one of the best things I've ever read on the internet. Smiley

I'm happy and pissed at the same time right now.

I just recorded a Ninja Gaiden III run in 15:16, but during stage 7-1a, there's about a second of footage missing for no apparent reason. I'm assuming SDA won't accept this video.

I'm about to execute a double-fisted Thor-hammer strike on my DVD recorder.
everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music
I dunno, you should ask about it. Runs have been accepted with far worse, but it's not up for me to decide.

My feelings on The Demon Rush
If it's about as small as your Ninja Gaiden II run, then it's fine.  I'll just give your run a one or two second penalty depending on how long the missing footage is.

If the missing footage was 5 seconds or more, then that would be something to be concerned about.
bläää
looking forward to see the run. Great job!
