A classic series of action platformers that needs no introduction. This game has been gaining in popularity of late so I figured why not add a casual thread. There are three main categories for this game:

Any%: Anything goes, collect as many or as few items as you like and complete the game as fast as possible.

Low%: Use only your sword and weapons that you start the game with (you are not permitted to collect ninpo, health, or any upgrades. Points and 1-ups are ok)

Pacifist: Also known as minimalist. You may not pickup health or other items. You may not use any weapons other than your sword which is only permitted during boss battles.

Verifiable world record times* using SDA timing (start timing when gaining control of Ryu and end timing when the counter reaches zero after the final boss is defeated):

If anyone knows about a verifiable Japanese time for Ninja Gaiden III that is faster than Liger's run please post it here.

That is awesome!! I look forward to some NG II races man. Also, I am not sure if you were aware but we do weekly NG I races each Saturday at 1pm EST, you are welcome to join in those as well (and so is anyone interested).

NG3 low%: 16:14 by me (can't find the twitch highlight, maybe I forgot to make one)

Timing is a bit different on NG3 because you still have control during the final fadeout.

While I wait for help with some issues with my recording setup, I could do some more NG 1 practice....

Also starting up a new wiki so I'm not sure how much time will be spent between them.

And duckfist, I think the health pickups are banned, heard people taking deaths to have enough health to get through it. I guess it's because you would have to attack something, even if it's just a dead object.

Yeah no health pickups duckfist, I updated 1st post to reflect that and include your times. Also, can you link your NG wiki here so I can add that to the 1st post as well?

Not a Ninja Gaiden speedrun wiki, it's for SotN. Minion will host it starting...some time today. ^^'

I did practice yesterday, doing worse then ever. Then I saw Dessy's Super Metroid randomizer and played that for the rest of the day. What it does is that is switches the place of items with each other so you gotta work with what you find and try to reach more of the key items to beat the game. Sometimes pretty heavy glitching required to beat it and sometimes unbeatable due to how new it is.
