Hey all I am a bit new here and just wondering if anyone has advice for a new runner.  I am Practicing Ys 1 Chronicles right now since Ys is one of my favorite action rpgs and I think it would be a great series to speed run, plus in my opinion one of the most over looked rpg series out there . Just wondering if some of you may have some tips and advice?  Thanks

HELLO!

just typed up a big reply and for some reason loged me out and lost everything lol.  Thanks for the link a couple things in there helped.  Also just wondering I read a few posts the other night and noticed people talking about submitting there pbs.  so If we get a good pb in a game should we also submit that to  even if its not wr Huh?  Sorry if that sounds like a dumb question just trying to completely understand.  Thanks again

There's a thread a few slots below this in this same forum on this exact same subject:

Obviously I'm biased towards my own advice, but everyone in there has some fantastic points, and hopefully some things that should help you!

That's weird. The forum usually saves those. I have a load of threads where I once typed up a reply and then left it sitting there because not relevant enough and they're still there … Or I removed the reply and typed 'a' instead so it wouldn't turn up again, meaning I have a lot of threads with 'a' in the new post box … xD
Dapper as fuck.

SDA isn't a WR site, so if your PB is faster than the time submitted here, then by all means.  I have the fastest Rescue Rangers 100% time here and it's not WR.

And I think that is an important distinction.  Not necessarily (though sometimes) the best in the world, but so, so far from amateur.  It always encouraged me to try and run, as this was always the first site I looked to when looking for a speed run.

HELLO!
The Zelda 2 WR holders (well technically one is like 0.6s faster than the other) don't like to take the effort to record for SDA quality. So I took it upon myself to record an 18:57, 4s off of the leaders.  Good run, not the WR, but I think a good demonstration of Zelda 2 speedrunning. A true speed demo.

Now I got the run 5 months ago, submitted it immediately, got it verified, encoded, worked out a timing misunderstanding with IsraeliRD, and now just waiting for it to go up.

It's up to runners to get good videos here.
Sorry about the late reply been crazy busy with work.. And thanks again everyone for the info.  Its good to know about the pb and such since that's the one thing that I was not sure about so really good to know.  Now I have a long weekend its time to start practicing lol.
