I'm still getting slow times on the skips. I had a good PB going until I somehow botched the Moon skip. Sad

And now I gotta wait for my new capture device to get here before I can stream again. What a week.

Hi guys. Another PC runner here (although I use a NGC controller), practicing Extreme Difficulty atm but will start racing Easy soon. I just did the Mines skip and the game wouldn't let me pause the game using ESC. Had to reboot to make the game work properly again. Any other PC runner who encountered this glitch?

For any PC players, there was a patch on Steam today and the game SEEMS more stable.

Hopefully this reduces the amount of crashes we've been seeing.

EDIT, both skips still work.

I got a new PB today (after 2 days of failed attempts - which means maybe 150 resets - most at Mine Glitch). Today I got 34:42 on In-Game timer (Wii U), Real-Time was 38:49.

I will let tomorrow be my last day as "try to be a speedrunner", after that I need to give more attention to other stuff. Hopefully I'll enter another PB here tomorrow. I think I can probably beat it by 5-10 seconds more if I get more luck on the plane.

Finally got sub 40! Real time was 39:48, just a minute off yours Tiimber. Again, I don't think it caught my Game time for some reason, but who cares? Had some flubs on the early levels, didn't get the Mine skip as quickly as I liked, but got awesome plane luck and 3 Giants on Dracula. Now for sub 39!
I have a vid of it, but how do I upload it to Twitch so I can show it?

Oh, nice Radman, since you are recording videos, I really hope you will end up as #1 on Wii U. I feel a bit ashamed to be the one there without recording.

I've failed all of my attempts today so far, but had one really good until "that jump" at Amazon. Will continue a bit more (even after today), but maybe not as aggressively.

I made some calculations. If timing starts exactly after "Saving Content" before each level, Wii U includes very close to one minute extra of loading times in the In-Game timing (timed against Capndrakes WR run) . Of course, that may not be the case, but in my opinion that's the probable place the start time is. (Why save content there otherwise?)

I wish too. I wanna livestream as well, but for some reason it desyncs when I broadcast. Hopefully later today my new settings will help.
For now, I gotta find out if I can even upload recordings to Twitch, or if it's just broadcasts

Otherwise I'm pretty sure you can't upload preexisting videos to Twitch. You'd have to use Youtube or something.

I haven't had much opportunity to play. That shouldn't be the case now, so I should be able to stream my progress. I'm gonna go for broke too and focus on Extreme.

What exactly is the trick with Magica? Someone mentioned taking damage from her bird form skips having to hit her, but I didn't get it to work.

I found a video of someone who completed this game on extreme (55 minutes, 1 hour 5 minutes including credits), which may prove useful to anyone looking to compete this game on a harder difficulty. They start with Transylvania, then the Himalayas because these are the only levels with heart containers on the harder difficulties.

That was the time I got when I first completed Extreme, and yes I emphasize completed. It is a nightmare to do Extreme, and I don't even think its much faster then Easy since you lose the invulnerability pickups that speed you up.

There's better. Here's a 41:21. But I don't think this one uses the Mines skip.

Hello, fellow ducks. Just started running this game today on PS3. I've got an RTA of about 42:23 (37:48 in-game time) with Mines Skip and Moon Skip. Had some general mistakes, bad Magica fight, slow-ish Mines Skip, and an unintentional death going up the last part of Mt. Vesuvius, but I had decent RNG and got Moon Skip first try.

Trying to get Mines Skip a little more consistently. I feel that the reference points might be slightly different on PS3. It looks like it has to be like about 1 frame to the right of every point. It could just be me, though.

I'm currently #7 on the PS3 leaderboards, though I don't think those leaderboards are too reliable because someone currently has a 25:21????

So, after trying to get life in order and study the game a bit (not to mention enjoy it the first go-around!), I obtained a time of 54:29 in-game. I know I can improve on this, as the African Mines glitch was being not nice and the end was kind of rough. I have a few questions.

1. Would it be safe to say 45 minutes is a basic estimate for the game, or would it be 40 minutes? Possibly lower?

2. I feel like there's an easier route to take for both Transylvania and the Amazon. Anyone have examples of fast routes?

3. Is it me or are the grabs and pogos not working sometimes?

After a few days of really sucky runs, I managed to improve greatly today. I got almost perfect Plane luck (one Beagle Boy extra), really wonderful Vesuvius (even if I took the slow path in the escape - I still got two quick hits on Duckula first appearances, and quick ended the big Duckula form both times), and on top of that, a quite good Mine glitch, and also three short-cycle Moon Boss. The biggest downside was against my Real-Time, since I got one bonus level.

All combined, I got a 30 second improvement in both Real-Time and In-Game on the Wii U.

Real-Time: 38:19
In-Game: 34:12

I will probably play a lot less now, as I see this time really really hard to beat on the Wii U.

Interesting stuff. I always went down first in the Amazon since it was the closest, but this looks significantly faster. Transylvania wasn't too different from mine, but this route is definitely help much appreciated. Thanks!

Also, I ran earlier today and got a time of 43:04 in-game. Luckily, no bonus stages, but still need to get better at the end of Mount Vesuvius. Mines skip went really well.

The Amazon route should save about 7-8 seconds iirc. The Magic Coins are really useful.

I got 0:39:49 IGT today on Easy. Got the Moon Skip on 2nd try but didn't attempt the Mines Skip as I can't do that one yet. A few deaths so it could have been better. Not bad for a first real speedrun attempt.

Edit: 0:39:23 IGT on Easy. Screwed up a hit on the Yeti and a couple on Dracula Duck. Also had one stupid death at Mt. Vesuvius. Nailed the Moon Skip 1st try.

I dont get this IGT at all..
Played without timer so no RTA and got a 34:59 on a run I just wanted to reset a million times over.. 1:27min improvement from my prev IGT pb.
Died on Ves, got stuck on two flowers in mine, shitty spiders fucking up on himalaya, messed up 2 bats on duckula and safe chain on last climb part.
Granted I got a great mine skip but that shouldnt make up for it that much?

Happy to get a sub 35 but it doesnt feel deserved so to say. :S

Overall fucking great game and first one I've tried speedrunning, will hopefully keep doing it if I dont break my keyboard cus of the fucking flower by mine rocks.

Frustration rampant here. Ended my stream in frustration. Missed the Mines skip several times, bad plane luck, screwed up the Big Time fight in the money bin twice, and to top it all off...softlock on the Yeti. <_> Is this some sort of baptism by fire for speedrunners? If so, I don't think I'm handling it well. :|
I want to at least log a sub 39 time before AGDQ...
