It's not that. Certainly not that. In fact, I recommend Fraps for several games, BUT NOT ALL GAMES. Fraps will not record all games, and if it does, it turns off if you don't move the mouse at least once every five seconds, which blows necessary cutscenes/loading screens. Camtasia is also a good (and probably only) alternative.
fraps is more then worth the 30 dollars. and yes it works in DX9, so don't bother getting that other one.
Fraps is the best out there right now. i got it over a year ago and have gotten my free updates everytime they come out. I Use it all the time for making music videos of games and its been more then worth the money! get it!!!
What a delightful topic. I can't say much, though, because I am using Fraps (the newest version, finally), to record my Postal 2 run, and it has done fairly well.
Yes, it gets the job done but there are some problems with it. So far I have experienced everything from bugged hitboxes and altered physics to system crashes (these things ONLY occur when I run Fraps). If you don't experience these problems then thats great, but I do so I don't see this as a very good software.
Well i did get fraps, but it took a while to find someone nice enought to get it to me for a run i'm going to do. I was very shocked though when i did a test segment just to see if it works or not, that a 12 sec recording was somewhere about 35 megs.
