How do I make an divx movie out of an MPEG? I haven't found anything on the net... even on www.divx.com I haven't found at least one thing about it -.-'' please help ^^

virtualdub... but if mpeg is what you're capturing in, you should see if you can change it to raw avi instead.  It uses more disk space, but it's better to capture in a raw format because it doesn't tax your cpu and you're not already losing data to the mpeg compression.  You can save the original if you have the disk space and make higher quality versions than just the divx.

Well Disk Space isn't a problem at all, but how do I change the config that the output file isn't mpeg? Haven't found a menu like that o.O

::Edit::
I just looked into the programme and it only has the options to give out several MPEG Versions but no raw files -.-''

well I loaded "Dr. DivX" and now I can encode divx movies out of an MPEG movie Smiley
Is it possible to make the MPEG compression use 100% quality? That shouldn't lose any extra data before doing the actual compression.

And have you thought of any other codecs? I personally prefer XviD to DivX. I find 3ivX good and easy to use for short video clips, but I don't think it's good for a complete run.

Coding MPEG will always give some loss in video quality. There is no such thingas a lossless mpeg video format. But they can be damn good... just look at the video on a DVD, it is compressed with mpeg2.

So yeah, if you use the maximum allowed bitrate in the mpeg encoder, you will probably get a good source for recompression.

And sure, XviD is a good, free alternative. I'm not sure if the standard divx decoder that people have can decode XviD though, so people who want to watch your video will have to install XviD or ffdshow.

Dr. DivX works just fine!
