Hey, I've been working on getting through MP2 hard mode single-segment for the last few weeks. The best time I've gotten so far has been 2:42, but I currently still can't pull off that one trick in the watch station where you jump on the rezbit and back into the bomb slot...

Also, this one i actually WILL capture contrary to my WW single-segment as i can access a workable vcr from one of my friends.

Anyways, any thoughts or tips (expecially pertaining to the watch station)?
Thread title:
good luck, will be one to look out for coz all ss runs are the ultimate skill show! show us your shit!
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
THAT WOULD BE TOTALLY AWESOME! GO FOR IT! I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT! C'MON EVERYONE! GIVE HIM YOUR SUPPORT! WOOOOOO!
...I'll actually give somewhat advice...

Don't worry about. If you keep practicing it, you might get the hang of it. I'm playing Metroid Prime: 2 myself, but I haven't gotten to that part, though. Create another file (if you can) and save just before that part, so that you can get do it over and over again until you get used to it.

And remember: Patience is a vertue!(spelling? Bah, I don't care) If you can just wait a work on it, you'll most likely do it eventually.

Damn, that sounded motherly....D:

Don't forget: Sweaty palms make your hands wet D:

I was just practising going through the game with no actual saving to run different segments, and something weird happened. Just as I was about to go into the dark world portal right before the boost guardian, the game made a loud sound and restarted... hope that doesn't happen on the actual run.

I was planning on capturing this either tomorrow or the day after as I have to go on summer holidays soon and I'll be gone for an entire month, deteriorating my skills. The problem is, I still can't get the watch station trick and with current routes, can probably bring the time to about 2:40. I was thinking with total optimization including that one trick, I'd be able to get the time down close to 2:30.

So, do you think I should do a run right away without the one big trick and see a time of 2:40, or wait until after July and see me get down to ~2:34 or something?
Hard to tell, actually....

Why not make a time w/o the trick now and get the time of 2:40 some, and when you come back, someone might've improved it, thus encouraging you to do that trick.

Woo!!! I just pulled off the watch station trick 2 out of the last 4 tries! I'm gonna practise it tonight and schedule the capture date for tomorrow around 1 or so. If I'm confident enough, I'll try it there.

There is also the Ghetto method for Watch Station.  It takes a bit longer to do (as you'll probably want do remove the rezbit threat).  If you don't want to use it in a run you'll at least get practice with the bombslot.

All of the people who have done MP and MP2 speedruns hang out in the forums at www.metroid2002.com (it's kind of a sister site to SDA).  I'd suggest joining and asking questions there too (and possibly posting a trial run to be commented on).

There you can read up on newer speedtricks like a BS jump in Dark Forgotten Bridge over the fence when going from Boost Guardian to Chykka, a difficult pre-SJ Ghetto in Mining Station to skip destroying the last pillar, and a BS jump to escape the Alpha Blogg battle.  Also, as some methods may be too difficult/risky for a SS you can learn about alternates like the BS jump to the scanpost in Great Bridge verses the difficult Ghetto&dash.

Well, I got good news and extremely bad news.

The good news is that I made mistakes I've never made before that add up probably a minute at least, but still managed to get a time of 2:32 just now. This is my best time yet and I was really happy with it.

As for the bad news, the VCR which I was recording on seems to hate me and my friend. It worked for a couple "test" recordings, but when it came to the real thing, it didn't record, so I lost the entire run.

Anyways, since I'm now busy until I leave for holidays, the run'll have to wait until early-mid august or something. I'm trying hard as I can to capture it. Just one question that is probably pretty obvious, can you submit a run on a recorded DVD?
