i had to move /home/sda/quake to /hdd/sda/quake because we were running out of space on the root filesystem on the server. i made a symlink from the old path to the new path so there should hopefully be no impact but i wanted to make sure people knew i did this because getting redirected by a symlink can be confusing. thanks.
