I cant find old thread, so....
Today I recorded segment 1 of 4 (a chapter, a segment). First segment time: 39:58 :-/
My mistakes/problems:
- Forgot the way to get the treasure
- Got confused at opening the safe (push/pull shit)
- REALLY REALLY STUPID PIRATES! They answered ALWAYS 'Oh yeah?' and 'Im rubber, you are glue!'. This was so friggin anoying. I had to fight 3 pirates to learn a new answer.
(Im very bad at appraiseing so don't beleive me :P)
Maybe, if I'll meet smart pirates, I would be able to get it down to 35:smth. Or even less
So. Whatcha thinkin?

I'd hit it.
Speedruns 4-ever...
Go for it I say.......

The old topic:

so didit. 35:33 Grin
im quite satisfied

nobody's forcing you to do 1 segment per chapter. Saving right before learning insults and repeating the insult-learning-segment a couple of times until it turns out lucky will probably yield better times.
oh this time I was quite lucky. I dont think somebody has the nerves to try it 1000 times. and i found a use for stupid pirates
Part 2
2:28
Mistakes or other shit:
- opened the little chest and closed it afterwards :-[
- problems finding the fireplace to burn Stans card
But these are just minor mistakes. Nothing big (whatcha expect from a 2 min part? Roll Eyes )
Speedruns 4-ever...
Keep on going, I´m really locking forward to see this, is their anyway you could put up and small clips so that we can see how it looks and goes...??
hm... i only have camtasia compressed (ergo not really compressed) and 640*480 files. If you tell me a compression tool I will for sure ( i tried with bink and smacker but the sound gets fucked up)

Here's the FAQ from SDA. You can ignore the part about recording from a tape and skip straight to the compression part. You'll need VirtualDub, an encoding codec for video (I use Xvid, because Divx is full of spyware) and an mp3 encoder for the audio (I use the one mentioned in the FAQ). You'll probably need to fiddle with the controls a bit for the proper settings, but that's not very hard to learn.

17:10 part three
>1hour should be possible
wherre do I get the mp3 codec mentioneed in the faq?
EDIT: does the menu/saving screen add time too? if yes sub 1hour would be hard

Er, what? I've never heard anything like that.
1:13 last part. I just stopped time to when I spray the rootbeer on lechuck. hope thats ok :-[
Precursor
IIRC, you lose control the moment you use it on him, so that's when the run timing would be stopped anyway.

I'll be looking forward to seeing this, I've had some ideas of speedrunning point & click-games myself, but never done it...
ah thx. but after I used it on him I have to talk to Governor Marley (i forgot her first name :-[). you remember? never pay more than 20 bucks for a computer game!
a what? Grin
would this be counted too?
Precursor
Ah, that part. Well, technically you control the conversation, so it might be counted. Nevertheless, it will be counted the same for everyone, so it doesn't matter much.

Now talk to Radix ASAP, I'll get this the instant I see it on the site (unless I get the honour to verify it, in which case I'll see it before that).

Are you really that stupid?
no. that happens sometimes to me. i mean i cant see anything in the actual news.

Er, what? I've never heard anything like that.

The Divx I got from the link in the FAQ, has my firewall pop up warnings all the time. Therefore, I assume it is spyware.

I've heard that you can download the Divx Pro package, then at the installation make sure no pro-features will be installed, and you have a Divx without spyware. Maybe you do it like that? Or maybe you paid for your Divx?
Sleeping Terror
Well, I've had DivX installed for years, and I've never seen any indication of spyware in it. I've also never seen any confirmed reports of people finding spyware in it. And considering the large number of geek/hacker types who use DivX, if they ever put any spyware in it, it would be discovered immediately and reported all over computer news sites.

I don't know why you're getting warnings from it. But if you really think it contains spyware, go ahead and show it - there are thousands of people out there who would love to know it, if it's true.
My mistake, it appears to be adware. Apparently the following can be found in the License Agreement (haven't checked it myself though):
Quote:
BANNERS: This software will download product banners and/or similar marketing devices from our servers and display them within the software GUI. A message will be sent to our servers indicating that a banner or similar marketing device has been served. No personal information will be communicated to DivXNetworks or its affiliates during this process.

That would explain the alerts from my firewall. But it's not that important anyway. Everybody has their preferences, and we're all too stubborn to change them Wink
OK. Timed again (radix told me that saving menu counts too).
58:12 final time. If Radixs flat-problems will be fixed, Ill submit this
Speedruns 4-ever...
Sweeeeeet..... Cant wait to see it!!!  Wink

And now that you have finisht the first game are you going for the rest of them....???
of course. next will be monkey 2. but i have recognized mistakes in my run:
i-=Part 1=-
- I don't have to talk to the important looking pirates.
- I don't have to get the map, once I followed the shopkeeper.
- I picked up one mug too much.
- I told Meathook the wrong answer. So he threw me out at first.
- Gave Stan the wrong answer. I wanted to make an offer but misclicked
-=Part 2=-
- Opened the liitle box and closed afterwards.
- Didn't find the fireplace to light up Stans card.
-=Part 3=-
- I had my problems with this stupid head.
-=Part 4=-
- Saved after killing LeChcuk (dunno why)
- Was too slow at answering in the outro.
