About the new ones :

(29) spawn with lot of water, trees nearby, end portal with 2 eyes but access is kinda difficult (water, lava). Nether spawns in a cave, and I didn't see any ruins nearby.

Thanks for exploring those seeds. I'll keep generating new ones until we get blazes in the nether. I have a seed with the end portal 4 blocks away from the spawn now :p

Edit : according to your stats and the central limit theorem, 1 seed over ~13000 has the end portal less than 100 blocks away, and 1 over ~48000 for 50 blocks, 1/127000 for 25, and 1/376000 for 10 (yes, I like calculations).

ahah that's really cool, actually I was trying to find the sigma-mu of the plot. Here is an updated plot (65434 seeds = 196302 portals):

The first portal is placed randomly within ~2400 of the origin (0, 0) and the other two are rotated by 120°.

For the plot : mean ~880 and standard deviation ~200.

For the seed you just meant, I'd like to say some things :
- the spawn near wood and meat is good, but in the jungle biome it's hard to travel fast
- in the nether, the blaze spawner is ~107 blocks away ; that's pretty good I still think we can find better
- the end portal has 1 eye in it
- with the chests we have directly our iron pickaxe, and our ender eye to duplicate (if it works)

In my opinion the major issue will be combat. You can make a bow, but there's no "source" of arrows ; also there's no snow biome nearby. That's for the towers (I noticed some of them are very high). And for the dragon, even a diamond sword will make it very long.

Now, what do you think? What would be the plan?

Edit : if we found this one in less than a week, I believe we should continue researching for an even better seed.

The strings can be obtained from the spiderwebs in the library almost right under the portal room (you have 3 pieces of iron from a chest if I remember : 1 for flint and steel, 2 for shears).

You can have flint by luck manipulating while digging to the portal I believe.
For the feathers... you'll have to find some chicken.

Another possibility is to luck manipulate the spawn of a skeleton in a dark room or dark cave, in order to obtain an arrow.

I still believe we can find a better seed (this one already being awesome).


Edit : what about never go back up? I mean, you can kill the cows with a wood sword maybe (even an iron sword maybe, but I think it's not necessary). Then when you dig down, make it so that water falls underground (the place is right next to the ocean). Once you have a bucket, take water then but a block to stop it.


Edit : I also saw some iron armor parts in a chest.

Num 11 has a skeleton spawner with two chests, but it's too far away from the portal I think. The End looks funny ^^
I just found something interesting. If you blow up a crystal when the dragon is very close to it, it can take as much as 70hp of damage. I don't know how exactly, because that happened only once.

Edit: in this video, it takes 43hp of damage. I think this can be part of the strategy.

My attempt at speedruning with the seed num 25. I'm in the End now, need to find a good strategy. There is a lot of derping and me wondering what to do. There is room for a lot of improvement, but let me know what you think.


Done with a lot of cheats. Here is how I think the run can be improved:
- Get 2 or 3 arrows from the skeleton
- Don't take the iron armor (?)
- Better strategy for building the nether portal
- Eat only when inside the nether portal
- Duplicate the food as well

Any other suggestion ?
First of all, great work. Then, the details.

If you need more wood, you can at first let the bottom one, in order to use it as a step, and mine it after. Also craft all the sticks at the beginning.

As you could have noticed the jungle biome is a hard one to travel through, maybe you'll have to find a better route.

I suggest to craft a stone pickaxe as soon as possible : when you have 2 cobble, mine another on the side, put a crafting table and craft the pickaxe. It would be also faster when mining the spawner. But it's possible that this is slower than mining all with the wood pickaxe.

And yes, take as many as possible arrows from the skeleton. At least 2 will let you forget 1 dupe glitch.

Also in my opinion, forget the gold and the armor. Your skills should make it.

If it's possible (I don't much about breathing), dig down so that water comes with you. So that you don't have to come back up only for water, and if you want to come back, just use the water as a ladder.

I think you could look for 3 diamonds near the end portal, then mine 1 obsidian block, then make some dupe glitch for arrows, random blocks (wood or cobble or anything), ender pearl and obsidian. With this method you can build the nether portal on the surface (if the spawner is closer this way, in terms of time) ; and yo ucan use the bow against blazes. Nevertheless your way to build the nether portal is cool ; we'll have to see which way is faster.

Because eating make things really slow, yes, eat only while waiting in the nether portal and waiting for the dragon to attack. I believe food is not necessary to duplicate.

After the nether, some dupe glitch will do it for the blaze rods.


For the end, I suggest to luck manipulate the dragon positions, in order to destroy each cristal when he's as close as possible to them. Then, if he's not dead, wait for him to attack (~10 blocks high), with the "180° turn" method maybe, then directly jump into the final portal.

That is many suggestions, maybe everything isn't good at all.
Water ladders are really slow, building yourself back up is faster. Additionally you can't create a new water source block without already having one, as far as I know, so the trip to the surface is necessary either way.
Early crafting phase improvement:
Top Row:1 wood 2 wood 1 wood
Middle and Bottom Row: nothing 2 sticks nothing
This allows a pick to be built followed immediately by a shovel.

leave the old tools in your quickbar until the spots are required/replace the spots

Don't use X-ray texture pack.
@Onin: The plan is to never have to go back up. But you're right about water ladders being slow. So slow that you cannot dig vertically to the chamber without drowning on the way. So you need additional countermeasures, e.g. temporarily blocking the water. You don't need source blocks, it's possible to put lava source blocks into flowing water, that'll convert them to obsidian instantly:

However, movement in water is much slower, so I don't know whether this saves time at all.


Also, stone pickaxes wouldn't save time IMO. If figures from the minecraft wiki are correct you save 6 seconds for mining 11 stone blocks with a stone pickaxe instead of a wooden pickaxe. I don't believe you can regularly mine another piece of wood, build a workbench and then use that workbench for crafting a pickaxe within 6 seconds.

And finally a suggestion: Put all required resources for shovel and pickaxe into the workbench at once so you can generate them both at once, too

I can survive a point-blank crystal blast with the armor, and the dragon takes > 30hp of damage. I think we need to destroy all the crystals that are up a very high tower first. And then use 2-3 crystals (edit: or a bed) for 60-100 hp of damage and then use the bow.
Watched your video again.

You can save time by mining just 3 pieces of wood instead of 5. In your run you use 17 planks. But you don't need 5 of these planks:

* Build your workbench not right at the start but next to the spot at which you're about to dig down. The only time after crafting scoop and pickaxe you'll need a workbench again is for crafting the bow. You can do this when you're climbing up for getting some water as well.

* Also, at 3:03 you don't need to place the topmost block for climbing. If you save that one you can use it as well for climbing to the surface.


Also, use the 4 planks e.g. at 3:03 and not when ascending to the surface since destroying them takes more time than destroying e.g. stone.
I don't know how that dupe trick works, but if possible you could dupe flint and sticks too, to get arrows faster.

The drops are not continuously saved, whereas the inventory is. The trick is to have the game save the drops both on the floor and in the inventory. For the flint + wood, you'd still need feathers.

I have a strategy for the boss fight, I just need to record it. I will need a power 1 bow, it can be dropped by a skeleton.
