On what server? Seriously though, Iron Golems won't be all that helpful. If you remember Snow Golem, their purpose was to throw snow balls at Blazes. They were means to throw snowballs at a creature made of flying fire in Hell The Nether. These Iron ones have HP and can hit, sure, but can they walk around a giant lava pool that's right in front of them? For 34 Iron you can craft a full set of armor and a sword with iron to spare, which ought to last longer, barring any hits from the still-broken creepers of doom. Which, FYI, should be able to one-shot golems if they get close enough.
I'd like to correct several things you said xud. First off, Iron Golems require 36 iron (4 iron blocks) + 1 pumpkin to craft, not 34. Secondly, creepers cannot one hit golems because it takes 14 hits with a diamond sword to kill them (which is at the very least 53 HP). Thirdly, when I say iron golem farming, I mean it the way I mean monster farming. Iron is now completely renewable and require very little effort to get.

Well, that's another 3 or 4 failures to add to my ever expanding list of thing I failed. Honestly outside of failing to multiply 9 and 4 correctly, the rest aren't really noteworthy enough to take note of.
Checked the wiki also; Iron golems have 50 hearts worth of HP, and since they spawn forever in villages can apparently be grinded down into iron and roses. Apparently they drop roses. Nice for coating a room in blood-red wool, I guess. I'd say Jeb will fix this in short order, but really, he's got other things to worry about.
I believe that the roses are intentional. Apparently the golems have some sort of implicit sworn devotion to the villagers and spawn to protect them. Occasionally they carry roses that they give to the villagers. It's actually quite sad because their only use is to be brutally slaughtered by the people they protect...

It's difficult to care for a metal construct with the collective IQ points of all the world's trampled dirt, but what do I know? Really, though, they will serve their purpose as base components just fine.
Playstyle: I build and mine about 2:1 ratio wise, I like big team projects. My buildings are Random /Inspired and I welcome anyone to come in and visit/help. I LOVE Gaming, Love SDA, And Constantly Enjoy the community as I get the opportunity to meet them.
Not risking making the same mistake I made twice last time.
EDIT: New snapshot...of sorts, the "1.2 Preview":
Added a new type of Stone Brick, called Circle Stone Brick, which is only accessible in Creative Mode. Pressing F3 now displays what biome you are currently in. Also, raw, sky & block brightness values called rl, sl & bl respectively. Slabs can now be placed upside-down. Added mechanical sounds for Iron Golems When crafting Slabs, you now get 6 instead of 3 When crafting Ladders, you now get 3 instead of 2 Removed accidentally left in camera controls
Bugfixes:
Nerfed Iron Golem spawn rate Fixed bug with updating Powered rail when placing redstone Fixed Stairs being placed upside down when placed on snow Fixed not being able to put torches on upside-down Stairs, probably normal Stairs too Fixed Jukeboxes not playing above level 128 Fixed not being able to grow Giant Mushrooms above level 128 Fixed bug with growing trees above level 128 with Bone Meal Fixed crash bug with Iron Golem crafting When crafting an Iron Golem, the block above them is no longer destroyed Fixed Iron Golem texture glitches Fixed tamed Wolves still attacking sheep Fixed some language bugs Fixed some Anvil bugs Fixed the client not properly handling biome values greater than 22 Fixed mobs spawning half as quick due to the code checking in invalid spawning places half of the time due to the new world height Fixed lava lakes generating over bedrock Fixed Iron Golem's texture being white or invisible Fixed the Iron Golem model Fixed Villagers being restless at night Fixed Nether Wart dropping from Soul Sand Fixed lag from Iron Golems.
Bug list will follow. I put the odds of 1.2 being playable before 1.2.1+ at -25%
EDIT 2: 1.2.1 released, which prompted 1.2.2 in short order to fix snow, tree and giant mushroom generation. Major bugs thus far include mobs not being hurt by daylight, and some other stuff...
Checked out 1.2.3, also. It doesn't appear to be completely and utterly broken beyond playability, although that said I've yet to really find and try most of the new stuff. One thing I can say is that the increase in build height is awesome; at level 250 you can barely see the ground anymore.
So server appears to be quite dead. I propose that Bjorn start a server and try to do what he and Mage did with the first one: focus on building infrastructure and a city before opening it up to the rest of the people. That way we can establish ourselves in a city and not in the wilderness first.
I don't play minecraft that often nowadays, but I'd help gather resources etc with other people. An sda server is the large reason why I don't play much minecraft, really.
I'm curious what kind of bandwidth is necessary to host a server for sda's typical userload...
The wikipage is actually a really good resource. Also I'd love it if someone reset up a SDA server. http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Tutorials/Setting_up_a_server Also great site for checking if you have the minimum specs. http://canihostaminecraftserver.com/ Cheers. EDIT: I put in some random numbers 6 meg up, 3 meg down 4 GB ram hosts 18 people (19 including you) 7 meg up, 4 meg down 4GB ram hosts 21 people (22 including you)
Just some ball park ideas for a server if you're going to be using your desktop or whatnot. Also I think Lefty told me irl, you have to have a static IP.
