Nice!

I've beat the Train boss only once, I'd love to see someone going far.

Megazords? I didn't even know they were there!

Also, there is the "The Movie" version, where Tommy, the White Ranger, joins. I don't know if there are other changes than that, since I never took it far.

First things first, that one is beyond easy. It seems as though putties don't even hurt you, and you go into ranger form almost immediately. I don't know any more about the snes version, but I do have the gameboy version.

Never give up!
Argg0: I think you have the original version confused with the "movie" version.  I say this because there never was a train boss in the original, whereas there was one in the "movie" version.

The SNES "movie" version is VERY different from the original.  Let me list some other differences between the SNES "movie" version and the original game:

1) You don't ever get to use a Megazord in that version - you don't even SEE one until the ending.
2) You can actually hold on to your morph to ranger form - it doesn't happen immediately at a certain point.  Because morphing refills health (and in the SNES "movie" version, it also acts as a bomb), this can be abused in a speedrun.
3) You don't get your weapon immediately - you have to build up the energy bar again.

If I still had an SNES I'd definitely speedrun the movie version.
Just wanted to voice my support for this run. Hope to see it up soon!

Just to update, I did manage to get another practice run in, and managed to get 33:45. Just to note that luck was on my side during that practice run.

The DVD recorder was shipped today, so, I should get to start recording Wednesday.

JRL, thank you for your support.
No problem. Wink

Also, did you actually check out the TAS?

I'm watching it for the first time right now.
...
Yes, I did watch it. I do lurk in the TAS videos forum to watch WIPs of runs that are in progress (the current FFIV run looks promising, and the newly submitted MK2 glitch-fest is very humorous). The current WIP of MMPR is where I got a few ideas (though the player didn't do in his WIP.) However, I did use his basic strategy on the first boss, and did watch frame-by-frame on how to time hitting the strong putties on the one truck in stage 1.

Ok, thanks for letting me know. I had this cart before for Genesis and SNES, but I never knew this game could be beaten this fast with Kimberly.
...
Just out of curiosity, is the Sega version any different from the SNES version?

And a little update on this run, did get the best time of 33:40 out of three practice runs. Again, luck was somewhat on my side. Though, like usual, the strong green putties went flying back to the moon to Rita Repulsa every time I hit them once.
The Sega version is a sub-par one-on-one fighting game.
...
A fighting game? So, I guess I wouldn't enjoy that one then.

I haven't got my DVD recorder yet, due to shipping screw ups (I kind of wished I took the time to take a 30 minute drive to Walmart to get one instead.) Hopefully, I can still attempt an actual recorded run Tuesday, assuming the problems with shipping is fixed. I hope to aim better than 33:33, since that's the best I got so far. If I get better than that, I'm submitting. If it gets rejected, well, I'm not going to try again (I'm actually getting very tired of the game), but I'll upload to MegaUpload or some other upload service so if someone wants to try to improve, they can look at the strategies I use, and probably find some new strategies to save time.
You don't like fighting games? And that sucks. Sad I am still waiting for your run to appear on that oh-so-awesome verifiers list.
...
Nope, never really been a fan of them. Except maybe Tobal No. 1.

Did get the DVD recorder yesterday, and made a [link=http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YQVP9YEU]horrible playthrough[/link].  This video should give you an idea on how the I attempt to speedrun the game. If I remember, it timed in at 34:54. Though I am horribly tired of this game, I'm not going to quit until I beat 33:33.

Comments, suggestions, pointing out the obvious mistakes, negative criticism, name-calling, etc. welcomed.
It would be nice if you could upload the vids to MegaVideo.
...
I didn't want to register just to upload some vids, but did so anyway.

Thanks a ton! Wink You actually did VERY good. The only mistake(s) that cost you time were the wall jumps and the pause in area 3. You should be happy that you have skills at this game, because I have NO skill at this game at all. Semi-quoting Garfield, "His(me) skill at MMPR is so low, you'd have to dig to find it."
...
Wall jumping became one of those things that was pathetically easy to do, that became almost impossibly hard all of a sudden. I just don't know why. Maybe this heatwave we're having is affecting me?

That pause was me trying to find the remote to stop recording. Then, I decided to just go ahead and continue recording. Might as well, I thought. At least if I finish recording, I can put it up and have people make suggestions and such.
I live in a place that has 95F+ heatwaves in the summer. Are you either:
1: recording in an air-conditioned room?
2: recording in a room with a fan or/and screen door?

Just curious.
...
The only thing I have is a window fan. When I was running it on high yesterday and today, it was still very hot in the room.
I feel sorry for you. Well, what I do is just simply take a break after each really failed attempt or in your case, try to move it as close to you as you can.
...
It's not like I've been in this type of heat before. The previous apartment I had was pretty much like a sauna. The only time it was cool was during the winter, and late at night from 3AM to 8AM. It would be 90F outside, while 105F in there.

Part of my problem is that I'm trying to be too much of a perfectionist in this run. So, I'm going to quit stop recording when I make a mistake in stage 2.

However, I'm contemplating on forgetting the 33:33 record, and submit if I'm get anywhere near there.

Take your time. You have plenty of it, since you're not recording with VHS like I am in my Skyblazer run. Try to aim at sub-34 minutes, then I(and a ton of others) will be effin' blown out of our minds.
...
Thank you for your advice and support, JRL. I've decided on a new strategy regarding this game. Instead of worrying about mistakes and such, I've decided to go berserk instead. I actually found that I've saved more time doing this instead of worrying about mistakes and things regarding saving time. By the end of stage 4 I was actually ahead 10 seconds from my previous record. However, died when I mistimed the jump and went into the pit. Damn, how I was doing so good.
Also, when you finish off enemies, try to finish them off as close to the right as you can to spend less time advancing to the next screen.
