I think I have the first release of Metroid Prime (NTSC).  I know I bought the game like the day it came out here in the states, but I'm not positive if I've kept the original one, or traded it and got it again, or whatever.

Is there a way to tell?

Back in the game!
Yes, there is.  If you flip your disc over to the data side and look at the inner ring, near the center, there is some information printed on the disc.  What you're looking for is "DOL-GM8E-0-0X," where the "X" represents which version number (as in 1.0, where 0 represents X...therefore if the code reads "DOL-GM8E-0-00," it is the original)

With that noted, I may be looking for one myself.

Alright, sweet.  It's the original.  Frezy edited his post in the "NES, SNES controllers...." thread, saying he wanted an original copy of Prime, so that's why I originally posted the question in that thread.  But, getting my own topic works too I suppose.

I've never had my own topic before.
Back in the game!
Yeah, that's my fault.  I must have missed it, just climbed out of bed lol.

Which version do you have?

DOL-GM8E-0-00, NTSC

Has the case, manual, a Nintendo Power offer and a pamphlet advertising Metroid Fusion. So it's all there, I imagine.  I found a loose copy (disc only) of Prime 2: Echoes, also a 0-00 NTSC, inside the Prime 1 manual.  I never knew I owned Echoes. Kinda scratched up, but looks like it'll work fine. I'll throw it in free, since I just couldn't get into the game, it has no case and I can't guarantee that it'll play well.

When I have bought Metroid Prime I am not able to tell if it is the players choice release or not. I have two copies of Metroid Prime  but both turned out to be the new version Tongue
You got a deletion wish?

I have the North American Player's Choice version myself.  Got a cube for Christmas '05 (platinum), Prime came with it (and Echoes demo with Prime).  Felt like an idiot trying to pull "space jump first" to no avail cause I can't scan dash!

i see several used copies of prime's original north american 0-00 release in most gamestops around here. if someone wants one, i'll see what i can do about getting some more (don't wish to part with the three i currently have).

he'd have to kill you otherwise. probably wants to have backups in case the disc drops from the forceps as he takes it out of the clean room.
welcome to the machine
Forceps would be the absolute worst tool for moving around disks.  He needs a rube goldberg machine.
