Petrie I just added you onto my friend list, so I can send those over whenever it goes through.

OK, so I have you on my list, but it says you don't have save data for metroid prime 3.  Did you do that "configure WiiConnect24" thing?
aka theenglishman
Are there video tutorials with step-by-step instructions for the MP tricks?  I find M2K2's stuff to be a bit confusing (and their Quicktime vids are clearly elitist...)
fuck you i wont do what you tell me
what tricks do you need to know about?

-you can get an early missile expansion in the pirate base where you would normally need the spiderball by just using good timing with the boost ball.  probably known, but still.

-you can't do xray panels without the xray visor.
That thing that says I don't have save data jsut means it hasn't fully gone through yet.  I think you've sent me one by now, I sent you 8.  I don't need any more I'm PRETTY sure, if I do I'll just call on ya later.

Oddly enough I don't have any more yellows.  The only way you can get them I'm pretty sure, is by killing off Red Phazonites, which give you an endless(?) supply.  Other than that, I'm not sure there's a way to get any more.

If you save after completion and start a new file, you can keep getting yellow ones by the completing various game objectives.  You might have to be in a different mode, though.

BTW, I haven't received your vouchers yet.  I suppose I just have to be patient...

EDIT:  Also, more speedy boss fights.  Steamlord, this time.

Defintely not the case with my file... it seems that you can only get the credits once... rescanning stuff doesnt get you new credits, same enemies doesnt get you any, etc.  Unless you meant start a new file completely (as in not saving over an old one?  Are credits cumulative over all three files?)

And yeah... the vouchers will get there.  And its confirmed that I don't need any more, so enjoy.  Smiley

Oh, I also encountered an odd glitch.  In Elisia, in the room where you use the hyoer-ball to make the chozo statue go into the floor, there were some creatures that you can use your grapple to kill.  I threw my grapple, but the enemy dodged it.  It coincidentally was lined up wityh the grapple hook itself, and stuck!  I backed up a bunch, and it seemed to extend with me.  I jumped off the ledge, to see if the grapple would carry me over, but it seems the game only recognized it as the "latch onto enemy" version, and I feel straight down, to my death.  The grapple extended the entire way with me, and a grapple that long looked very odd.
Yeah, I said it.

Why no Hyper Beams for Steamlord?

Why no Hyper Beams for Steamlord?

As odd as it is, they don't seem to make it any faster.  If you nail him with the Hyper Beam, he tends to disappear immediately, whereas he doesn't when you just hit him with Charge shots.  Plus, his electric attack cancels hyper mode, and he tends to do it more often when you're in Hyper mode.

At the moment, I'm looking into Defense Droid, which looks to be quite interesting.

You tried rapid uncharged shots and not just charged shots, right?

No, I did not.  hmm...that could be used to make it go faster.

I'll probably come back to investigating Steamlord at some point.

I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Someone posted this on GameFAQs:
http://www.divshare.com/download/1847031-147

Of course, it just HAD to be about an hour or two after I had just used my Energy Cells there.

Edit: Not sure if this will help in a SPEED run, but he made another one, without the Screw Attack:

Those have been known on M2k2 for a little while...

Anyways, tried some strats on the Steamlord that you fight on the way to Defense Droid.  Charge shots and missles still seem the best, mainly because they actually stun him a little, giving you more time before he disappears.  Uncharged shots, Hyper mode or not, just make him disappear almost immediately.

As for the Defense Droid, I have a great any% strat for him, but the low% strat is not forthcoming.  Hyper mode is, of course, used liberally.

Okay... But I don't go there, and it hasn't been posted here.

Do'h! Homer'D!
petrie: The Steamlord on the bridge is skippable, you just have to run past him to make the bridge collapse. Maybe you were just re-testing stuff on him, but I figured I should mention it in case you didnt know.
Well I'm confused.  I started the game on normal... and I just beat it on veteran.  I got no yellow credits, save for the ones I got from red phazonites.  The in game screen says that you can get more yellow credits from beating bosses on different difficulties, so I'm confused as to what is hapenning.

I also got the 100% ending, and confused as to what happens in the end.  I won't say what it is, obviously, but does the Prime trilogy come before Metroid, MII, SM, etc?  That might clear things up.
Everybody loves Hypnotoad!
It comes after Metroid, but before Metroid II.

Perhaps you only get more Yellow credits in Hyper difficulty?
fuck you i wont do what you tell me
gold.

you get a gold credit from killing the phazite after you get spiderball...

learned the hard way that the tractor on the charge beam doesn't attract them. -_-

its probably still floating high in the sky where I can never get it.

thanks, retro studios.

Charge beam DOES attract the gold tokens dropped by Red Phaziite. I did it myself in the Skytown open area. It doesnt attract as much / fast as health refills though. Also, you want to aim your gun towards the item while charging for "maximum attraction"

I don't know... you get one after defeating each boss (on the first playthrough only, I think). Like after killing Rundas, you'll see a message "Rundas Defeated" with a gold token beside it.

Current Progress:

I can get to Bryyo in under 0:30. I can defeat the first Leviathan boss and get started on Elysia in under 1:30.

Hey Lucid, did you make more progress on your attempts and can you tell me your times? I started a pseudo-speedrun and I'm saved after getting the ship missiles in Bryyo in 0:44 and was wondering what others got.
Well I can confirm that you start re-obtaining the yellow/gold credits on bosses on the hyper difficulty.  So to review, you get them on each boss ONCE for normal and veteran, and then again for hypermode.

Also, hypermode is probably going to be balls hard.  I haven't died yet, but I just landed on Bryyon.
fuck you i wont do what you tell me
veteran is freaking easy so far... at the pirate HQ leviathan...

the only times I've died are rundas and infinite enemy spawns (rundas battlezone visit #2, powering down the pirate defence shield).
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Question about the low% run: Did someone find a way to skip that first Energy Tank in the Olympus? I seem to remember someone saying they did, but I can't find it here, and anyway, I want to know how.

In other news, I just beat the game on Normal and started on Veteran. I beat Berserker Lord in 14 minutes. Although I AM trying to get as many scans I missed the first time, as well as the juggling thing, so without those, maybe 12 minutes.

Yeah, I said it.
The definition of "annoying:"

Unlike Metroid Zero Mission, you can't start a new game on a specific file if there's already a save; you can only start from a new file or from clear data. Also, if you start from a new file, you won't be able to skip cutscenes (a rather important feature in a run of this length), even if you have another file where you can. This means I have to reserve one of my save slots for clear data, in case I want to start a game over and still be able to skip cutscenes. What a stupid oversight.  Sad

Not yet, but I'll resume working on the early part of the game soon. I just finished my own pseudo-speedrun on Normal in under six hours, in-game time. There were mistakes, a lot of experimentation, and I didn't use a great deal of the tricks that have been discovered. I probably could have gotten sub-5. Depending on what kind of boss strategies and speed tricks we come up with, sub-5 could only be the beginning.
Just so you know, Fano7 on m2k2 got 4:10 on veteran difficulty.

Just do what I did. After I beat the game for the first time and saved, I copied the new-game+ file with nothing done yet to the other two slots.
Yeah, I said it.
Here's a small bit of info that I haven't seen posted yet. I can confirm that the in-game timer stops when accessing the menu via the 1 button. So, if you wanted to access the menu for any reason during a run (changing sensitivity settings for the Meta Ridley fight, for example), it won't count against you.
