You get that from the start, but I wasn't even aware it existed until someone on this board pointed it out.  It also creates a very unique "half tbj", where you only have to place down one bomb to get the same height.
I used it once by accident and didn't even know I did it. At least it was finally explained to me via forums.

I must say, the Hyper Charge (charge your beam in hyper mode) is the most ridiculously overpowered attack ever.  If you hit with all the attacks of it, it does at least as much as a power bomb in the previous games.

I can see getting more energy tanks than usual for this speedrun just for the ridiculous power of Hyper mode.

I agree...it is too overpowered.  Then again, I'm playing on Normal mode right now.  Maybe I should restart on Veteran.  Normal is just way too easy so far.

Might be the quickest way to get past these lava sprouts.

This might be very obvious to most people here that you can do this.  I'm wondering though...is there an even faster method that I missed?

Slightly off-topic here:

I have created an Excel spreadsheet tracker for all upgrades and scans if anyone is interested. GameFAQs won't accept .xls or .xml files, so I figured somebody might get some value from the files aside from GameFAQs. I'm considering actually turning it into a .txt file, but I don't know if there's any interest for something like that.

Also, an interesting tidbit that I saw on IGN and nowhere else: on Elysia, access the Chozo Observatory room with the Spider Ball and you can activate the Bomb Slots to launch satellites that reveal every upgrade on Norion, Bryyo, and Elysia. It places white markers on your map in the rooms with upgrades: a white dot means an upgrade is there that you do not posess, but a white "X" means you have obtained an upgrade there.

It should be noted that these markers do count suit upgrades like Plasma Beam and Screw Attack.

Also, am I the only one that has had no problems on Margenon (or whatever his name is)? I thought he was a rather fast boss.

Molgenar took me a while to figure out.  You apparently have to destroy the red sphere and overload the socket it was in.  I thought you had to destroy all 4 spheres before you could start overloading sockets.  I eventually figured it out, though, and didn't even game over (of course, it was normal mode).

And by all means post that excel file.  It would prove very useful in a 100% run, and I'm trying to figure out where/what the scans I'm missing are.

Reptilicus' weapon throwing attack doesn't go through open doors for some reason

Really bad Reptilicus AI

Here's some stuff I found in Fire Bryyo.  You can skip the falling gel by jumping to the side of it, and you can avoid damage from those exploding bugs by walking through them in Hyper mode.  Hyper mode can be used to blow up the pirate transport before the pirates get out, greatly shortening that part of the fight, and check out that Rundas battle.  Awesome.

http://files.filefront.com/SpeedBossavi/;8459382;/fileinfo.html

BTW, if you game over during any boss fight and choose continue, you restart at the beginning of the fight.  The same goes for dying after the fight, except you start the way you were right after the fight.  Also, it doesn't count against your time!

Now, how will SDA treat this?  If we follow the Dark Samus ruling from MP2, you could continue like this as many times as you want until you got a good boss fight, even in a SS run.  Of course, the only other option is to abandon the game's timer as reliable, and that's not a great idea, either.

That boss battle was really good, But I'm not sure... Can you use the trick I mentioned in the first post in Hyper Mode?

Because if so, you could kill him even faster.
Petrie I just added you onto my friend list, so I can send those over whenever it goes through.

I see that the AI behaves similarly to the way it did in MP1 with Metroids. Metroids will not chase you through an open door, but will instead get a few feet from it and constantly charge their ranged attack. They won't phase-shift, charge you, or fly around at all. They just constantly charge and fire their lightning blast (which is easily avoidable) over and over until you kill them.

Also, the link below is for that Excel spreadsheet I mentioned earlier. Mind you, the "Notes" section is not finished as this is an early version (and the chronological order is open to debate as well, obviously), but everything is there, not counting Suit Upgrades (Plasma Beam, etc.). Every Scan is present on Sheet 2 with locations for it. Hope it helps.

Keep in mind, again, that this is an early version of the document. If you have comments or suggestions, please let me know and I will modify it.

EDIT: I just remembered something. Does Kip even have a Wii? I seem to remember reading somewhere that he does not.

Perhaps they learned from the "enemies come through door helps sequence break" in Metroid.

Hehe, possibly. Now that I think about it, I used to kill Aerotroopers in MP1 using a similar idea. There were rooms with Aerotroopers that respawned every time you entered and there were a couple of them that had a little ledge in front of the door as you entered. I used to do something similar to the trick in my above post to the Aerotroopers to kill them. They just hovered in place, eating charged Plasma. I thought that was the way you were supposed to kill them for a long while.

Another thing I remember from MP1 is that if a Metroid tried to go through a door, it died.  I once had a metroid try to latch on to me as I went through a door.  the second it hit the door opening, it exploded.

I never tried that...

Damn, my copy of MP1 is in Florida with my younger brother.

Also, to those that are looking at that Excel file, I have found a bug in it. The "Totals" fields at the bottom don't add up correctly if you have the sorting set to anything else except alphabetical ("A to Z" or "Ascending") on the first column. I believe this is due to the way Excel handles Named Ranges and the assignments it hands to those names in a formula.

In MP1 there was a glitch where you let a Metroid latch onto you next to an open door, then lay a bomb and tap toward the door and the Metroid goes through to the next room. Echoes is the one where Metroids explode when they touch a door.
fuck you i wont do what you tell me
not done the game yet...

frozen phazon metroids die from any fire whatsoever (including morph ball bombs).

dammit, i knew i had another thing, i've just forgotten. -_-

oh, and damn, that dissolving space pirate scared me when i walked through that door.

For those of you who can't be arsed.

The game hasn't been released in the UK yet, and to be honest, even when it does I won't get it.

The next game on my list is Super Paper Mario.

I've beaten SPM, but I probably won't replay it, even for the Pit of Trials on either side. That feels too much like a "let's put in random content to extend play time" gimmick to me.

That being said, LinkYyay speaks the truth here: MP3C rocks, 'nuff said.

EDIT: Fixed a typo.

You won't have any use for it anyway, since it's a game that Wii normally can't read.

This is kinda off-topic, though.
