fucking .gif....
I just thought I'd post my run I did today.

Veteran
55%
time: 4:08

tried to do some of the tricks, but failed (cant do BSJs for shit), like 5 bosses could have been faster...mainly Helios and Gandrayda, but the rest went down pretty fast.  also I would got caught up in the environment at one point to admire the land a bit >_<.  Some other things I could have skipped like certain battles or shooting ships down and at 1 point I almost died.

also is it wise to get so many energy tanks?  I thought it would be so I could abuse hypermode without a care.  Also didn't get any ship missiles, used 2 of them that weren't mission specific.  finished with 105 missiles which seemed to be too many, but I wasn't sure due to seeker missiles cause by the end I hardly used many where I had to refill and barely fell before 40.  I thought I would use a lot like I did on hyper difficulty, but that didn't become the case.  Oh well, cant wait for a kickass speedrun!

All your base....
Hello everyone, long time reader/viewer, first time poster

some of you may know me from other forums like: ocforums.com, xtremesystems.org, or techpowerup.com, as either VulgarHandle, or my true game handle, Molester (which some forums don't let me use, so I go by VulgarHandle now at all new forums I join, attained the handle in Quake 3 Arena 5 years ago when someone said they felt molested after the 1v1)

I've enjoyed watching many of your demos, with both eyes of intrigue, and eyes of curiousity

Thinking of making MP3 my first run, and was wondering a couple of things:

1. Should a 100% run include all of the following?
.....all possible scans, for all red credits and most blue credits
.....all possible kills for most gold credits(including red phazoids)
.....all possible special actions for remaining gold and blue credits, as well as friend vouchers
.....be on first play through

2. Being that you get alot of gold credits for beating bosses on normal, and then more for beating those bosses on veteran, does anyone know if you start with veteran first, will you get 2 gold credits for each boss?

3. Can there be a run on a second play through? (to save time on cut-scenes/scans/and special actions, so you really only have to attain all 100 pickups)
Yep yep yep!
1. no
2. no
3. yes

100% is defined in Meroid games as getting all items.

Also, before you attempt a run, I highly reccomend you spend some time learning all the currently-known tricks and discussing with others to come up with a route.
100% in Metroid games is defined by the percentage counter displayed throughout the game in the upper-right corner of the pause menu and on the Mission Final screen; scans don't count. By SDA rules, a second playthrough run isn't just recommended, it's mandatory. And as BlueGlass said, before you do a run learn about all the tricks that have been found. You won't find them here, all the currently known tricks are documented in the SBing topic on metroid2002. Also take a look at some of the other topics around there, as they also contain information about glitches/secret worlds/sequence breaks that have been found.
Is it just me or does Samus's morph ball size seem kind of inconsistent?  I was always under the impression that the diameter was about 1 to 1.5 feet or so (maybe even smaller).  If you look at some of the things she fits into, such as boost ball stuff, it appears to be that way.  Also looking at her side-scrolling adventures, and smash, she's tiny.  But then last night I balled up next to a soldier... and holy crap.  She's still half their size!  Anyone notice this?
Everybody loves Hypnotoad!
According to Metroid Prime, the ball is about 1 meter across.
The morph ball is half Samus's size too. Her biped form is the same height as the troopers.
I didn't really clarify enough.  Compared to Super Metroid and SSBM, her Prime size HAS to be much larger... right?
Visually Appealing

of course.

and by doing the math, Samus is about 6 foot tall. little bit of useless knowledge, but you never where you'll need it. not to mention, i likes the tall ladies.
i r teh taller dan saemues!11

Inconsistent? Never...

Stand: Devil's Call in your Heart
that glitch happened to me and i use 4:3.

it's a problem with the game itself, not the aspect ratio.

I'm doing a SS low% hyper run, progress will be posted there.

I must say, I'd recommend against SS.
SS is fine IMO, it's not even that hard until Pirate Commander.
I experienced something today never experienced before.. When travelling between areas, rather than getting the usual "ship flying over generic background" loading screen, I got one of a cockpit view of Samus tapping a few buttons in the ship and whatnot.  I thought this might be due to me holding down a certain button before going into that screen, but I tested it and nothign hapenned.  Anyone know how to get this screen?
It happens when you fly between landing sites on the same planet.
Do'h! Homer'D!
Yeah, I had that happen between landing sites on Norion. Never on the other planets, but it might be possible.
Possibly only on Norion... I've never had that happen on any other planet (and I've ton of inter-planet travelling).
I haven't seen that anywhere...hmm.
...?
I experienced something very interesting today while playing around with "Zipline Station Charlie" secret world.
Normally, once you are above the morphball tracks, if you change back into morphball you will fall back down to your death. But i found that if go away from the tracks a bit, and rapidly go between biped and morphball you will not die, and the floating buildings will be high above you. Once you are this far down, if you change into morphball you will rapidly sink downwards, so fast that the light from your boost ball will actually start to seperate from samus. After awhile you will only see your morphballs outline going arond in a circle at ridiculously high speeds. Go play around with it, i doubt anything can come from it, but you never know...
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
that happens in any SW situation, I like messing around with it from time to time
been known since prime 1.

Ok, I just finished: final time 3:13!!!!

And... bad news... 10 deaths. >_<

-Pirate Defense Systems x1
-Pirate Commander x1
-Phaaze x4
-Dark Samus x2
-AU Head x2

Questions about the deaths - will they be added to my final time? If not, will they be kept in the video?

(the deaths don't count on the timer by the way, if you didn't know)

EDIT: oops, wrote the wrong time... fixed
