The Only Legend's I Know Are Dead!

Hey There my name is Adnan "Big Boss" Kauser. Just recently i submitted a few MGS2 tanker speed runs to the site. However i feel a bit sore that people have said i should've tried the enitre game. So i have decided against what i quoted and will soon try run the entire game. Also i will try to go for the trilogy. Im currently working on MGS3 Euro Extreme at a time of around 1 Hr 40. After this is done i will go back to MGS2 and complete the dog tag and speed run for that and then hopefully go onto MGS1. Does this interest anyone or would i just be wasting my time.

Thanks a lot NTG. The Dog Tag Run was very poor. i just wanted to finish it becuase i had bought MGS3. I wanted to try the PS1 version with a big boss ranking what do you reckon?

I just got done watching the tanker run, nice job. That part where you tumbled through the soldiers was amazing, I didn't know you could do that.

I'd definitely be interested in seeing the rest of the game.

Very cool. But wasn't there a guy you had to get by waiting in the pantry? He comes in to take a nap. I remember him being one of those guys that you need to scare before you get his Dog Tag. Or did you get him in some other part of the tanker?

yeah thanks very much Exinex and Darfox8. in reply to your question about the pantry man. The guard comes up the stairs and into the Storage room as soon as Snake enters the Storage room. If you watch the Dog Tag run again i go into the storage room for half and second then run out again and freeze him as he comes up the stairs. Thanks to everyone who says these are good, i really feel like doing the rest of these games now.

Oh yeah, i gotcha. Cool, you defenetly seem able to do a full game run so go for it.

MGS for PS1 forever.

I'd do MGS# runs but I know most people want to see a big boss run and I wouldn't be able to get big boss. I have beaten MGS1 on extreme, but it was far from speedrun worthy. I'd be playing MGS3 right now but trying to find monkeys doesn't appeal to me. Getting dog tags was at least exciting in MGS2.

I think it would be great if you tried a few MGS speed runs. Allthough there arent that many MGS runs done, compared to i.e Metroid. I think the Gamcube MGS run in 1 hr 8 was very good. There are many different kinds you could try instead of Dog Tags in MGS2 you could collect all of those little frogs in MGS3.

Ive just done my MGS3 foxhound run on Euro Extreme. My time was 1:45:55. I'm going to record the video as soon as possible now.

hey, BIG BOSS, loved the Tanker chapter you did... there were some things in there that made me laugh... mainly because they WERENT in Takeshi's videos (playing Dominos with Marines, using the Hang Drop more, FREEZING guards). overall, i cant wait to see what you can do to the Plant Chapter.

just letting you know that was some excellent work.

Thanks a lot Solid Snake much appreciated. By original metal Gear do you mean the MSX or Nes versions. If so the answer is definately no. I am of course doing MGS1 on PS1.

Hey man I'd watch em for sure, If i ever get around to putting MGS 2 back in the machine (GT4 is owning it at the moment, bought MGS2 for 50% off because MGS3 came out, got past tanker and got bored)

hey thats great bobbles. Competetion makes things intresting and pushes people to try harder resulting in better output. After ive done the MGS3 run, (Im not touching any other MGS until then) i was going to do MGS1 but if you want we can try to see and discuss times and routes through the Plant in MGS2 if you wish.

I watched your Tanker run yesterday, and it was impressive, but i really think you should focus on MGS1 instead. Most of us have already seen the godly MGS2 run from Takeshi with no saves and no damage. To be honest.. another run like that, even if you top him, wouldn't be very interesting.

And about MGS3.. if you're just gonna beat Andreas by a couple of minutes, i wouldn't even bother with a video. You're gonna have to come up with something a lot better than that. Better quality video would be nice though, but i'm not sure if i'd bother watching a 3rd speed run of that game, unless it's a godly one.. like a no save perfect Foxhound rank, as i know some people are attempting.

A MGS1 run is what i'd really like to see. Big Boss rank of course. I was thinking about doing one myself a few months ago, and was just messing around with a few strategies here and there, but i found out i wouldn't have the time or patience to go through with it. MGS1 is in my opinon the best MG game out there, and it's the only one that doesn't have a decent speed run. Only one that i know of.. a time attack, that isn't impressive at all.

Don't take any of this the wrong way. I'm just giving you my opinion and telling you what i'd like to see. I just wish MGS speed runners out there would focus on doing a run of a game that doesn't have a decent run yet, instead of doing runs of the same games just to improve the time by a few minutes.

Thanks for your comments Thagen. Firstly let me point out the current MGS3 run is on Extreme and of course i allways play on Euro Extreme. Also the current MGS3 run has no colour. I just want to do the MGS3 run becuase i want to beat the current time on a more difficult level setting and have a recording in colour. As for the Plant run this website is requesting one. Also i have thought about a Foxhound Rank single segment run for MGS3. Right after i beat the current record (even if it is a few minutes) i will do MGS1. Then i will probably do the MGS2 Dog Tag run and if the website still want the MGS2 Speed Run. I know im not as good as Takeshi is at MGS2 but seeing as his run is not on this website.

Let me try put this plainly. I want the fastest completetion times for all the MGS's game anywhere europe. I'm sure there are a few in America and Japan that could beat my times but i want the fastest euro times.

Fair enough.. and like i said, a better quality MGS3 run would be nice. It's a shame Andreas' run is in black and white.

Have you done any kind of testing to see what exactly the differences are between Extreme and Euro Extreme? I know it's game over when seen.. what else? Is the damage taken/inflicted changed a lot? Other things? I'm in Europe too, but i imported the game so i haven't checked out the PAL version.

Well.. i hope you stay as determined, and i'll be eagerly awaiting your MGS1 run.. which will hopefully be equally impressive as your Tanker run. =]

there are of course major differences. even the tanker run i did it was obvious that some of things that Takeshi does i cant do. For example the way Takeshi shoot's the C4's i cant do. This is because the guards have a hieghtned sense of hearing. they also have longer vision. there is more damage taken. Everything is slightly harder.

If you can stay as creative on a whole run on Sons of liberty then i think you should go for Takeshi's record insted of the European Extreme record..

maybe the european extreme record will have your name on it, but takeshi will allways be regarded as better if you don't go for his time.

and if you have the dedication, creativity and stamina, you could break his record with more than a coupple of seconds.

Ive never wanted to break Takeshi's record. What Takeshi has achieved is awsome and i dont want to take anything away from him. For Sons Of Liberty I want the Fastest European Extreme completetion Time, Not the fastest time overall.

By the way dont expect too much if i do do the plant. The creative barrier was greater in the tanker which allowed good gameplay effects. I dont think theres a great deal of fun to be had in the plant. Allthough a Dog Tag run in the plant could be pretty fun.

Hey Big Boss. Just saw your Tanker run and wow! The domino effect was very clever. I enjoyed it much. An MGS1 run would be very interesting. Of all the MGS games, it will ALWAYS be the most revered. For me personally, MGS1 brings back nostalgia. Ahhh, Sniper Wolf, how you broke my 6th grade heart Shocked

Anyhoo, yeah, MGS1 rocks and you'd be an LD chocolate covered Oompa Loompa not to do one.
