seriously 32:04? Ok NOW I'm starting to get a lil suspicious. Not to mention those two runs were so close together and on top of that (and I mean no offense) where did this runner come from?
because you are heidrage, nuff said :P. I'm talking more from a...no one in the MMX community heard about this guy (As far as I'm aware of) and suddenly he posts two runs both with insane luck? Call me a little cynical is all
I toppled Super C in a very short amount of time. I took Double dragon from Humoris is under a month, I did Super Double dragon in 2 - 3 weeks. My point is just because some one is not know, it does not mean they cheat or are not good at the game. How much money does it cost to get the equipment to start streaming and recording? Not everyone can get up and running. But in the end, it does not really matter as they are not submitting to SDA. We can pull strats from it though. If they were to submit, then we can get all the info we need.
Nanaka has been hanging around the 32:1x times for a while, he just finally broke through. I've been watching him live (controller sounds, vocal reactions, etc.) so it's hard for me to believe that it's fake.
There's his nico community if you don't have a premium account and want to try to catch a live run
I'm screen capping the live run right now, because I think he lost the recording due to amarec crashing.
Now, one thing that we may not consider legit is that he paused the timer for a few seconds on the password screen before chill penguin while he was resetting amarec (which I didn't notice before).
here's my screen capture of the 32:04 live run. As noted before there are several pauses in the video due to lag or amarec crashing, and I had to switch the recording around the beginning of kuwanger stage.
Because of the 17 second pause of the timer in between intro and penguin though, I don't think we can call this the record. I know the japanese players usually allow it, but I don't think most people here would.
If anything it would be a TA but that's not a record I would agree upon. 32:10 would be a time but would you let me take a break to use restroom during a run? How is this different? Just resetting the run would be best choice.
A few months ago I got a WR in Mega Man X3 100% with a shit time of 48:xx. In that video I was able to skip doppler 2 boss explosion. Well now that I know how to do it 100% of the time thanks to Luiz_miguel....I now have a much more optimized goal to aim for. Using this skip and other tricks I plan on getting a 46:30 or lower. I just wish I could submit that time to this site.
Here's video 1 which is the normal (and less swag way) of performing this skip
Both these methods save EXACTLY the same amount of time (roughly 15 seconds). Include iceless, an instance of double neon jump, and perfect supreme elevator skip in a run with that skip and you got a pretty impressive run.
As I already stated in my introduction, I plan to speedrun Mega Man X4. But before starting I still have some questions. 1. What are the exact points timing starts and ends and do I have to record the credits or not? 2. Should the time come and SDA is interested in my completed run, can I send over the physical disc to you and would a region 2 DVD cause any problems (I'm living in Europe)? 3. I use a DVD recorder to record my run. Do I have to post some footage for a quality test or is this obsolete with a recorder?
I'd appreciate any help you could give a newcomer to this community^^.
Ah, still nobody to answer my questions, hope this thread isn't died out. I probably should state that I want to start with an any% segmented run with Zero. My route will be: Stingray Dragoon Walrus Peacock Mushroom Owl Spider Beast I pretty much elaborated all the strats I need for this run so all that's missing is me recording it. And I hope somebody is able to answer my questions from the last post.
Always do a quality test, especially for your first submission. There's nothing worse than recording an entire run, then finding out something's odd about your recording setup or encoding and having to do it all over again.
I'm not sure about R2 DVDs, you should probably ask nate about that. You could torrent the files over as well.
You don't have to include the credits in your recording but it makes a pretty nice capstone to a well-executed run, don't you think? As for timing, it's generally from first controller input to last controller input. I think for X4 this is considered Game Start -> final hit on Sigma. I used to know this for certain but it's been a long time. I'll ask Israeli to be sure.
I've messaged both people I mentioned, let's see if we can get you some definitive answers.
Based on the current run on SDA, timing starts when you first have control of Zero on the intro stage, and timing ends when you get to the spot where you stop before General starts talking with you (post-sigma).
I'd recommend including everything in your video: starting the game, credits, etc. Probably not necessary to show the last cutscene, but that's up to you.
i don't think dvd recorders create region-coded dvds. even if they do, i can read any region no problem. before that though, it is easier to submit the files from the dvd using one of our submission systems (bittorrent or mac/windows wizard). it is faster and you don't have to pay for shipping.
