Oh, I almost forgot; you can kill the power cords (in Mijinion's stage) faster with an extended aerial Enzuisan (takes out ~85-90% of the energy). Just in case you haven't found it out yet. Extended means Zero does an extra spin, which is done by bashing the attack button. Mr. obvious again, but I'd hate to make any explanatory posts afterwards.
Also, the second one will hurt you for that unless you stand next to it so it "can't touch" you.
You can also become invincible in Inami Temple at that part where we were discussing earlier. You have to be on the second appearing platform and Ensuizan just as the first appearing platform pushes you off of it.
I accidentally landed on the healing panel thing, which cancels invincibility, so I went elsewhere to test. In other news, you can use the slippery disappearing panels at the beginning of Laser Institute to trigger invincibility.
EDIT: Same with pretty much all of North Pole area.
EDIT 2: I confirmed that the blocks in Central Museum can also be used for invincibility. It doesn't last through the area changes, though.
EDIT 3: Not only does grabbing the armor part in a capsule cancel invincibility, but so does listening to Dr. Light talk about it.
Wait, isn't the first downwards slope in the Gate's Lab 1 slippery? I never use the saves, so I can't confirm that right now, but I remember having problems with the slope initially because it made me slide a bit.
I'm glad my observation of the glitch helped out guys. Actually, I felt kind of dumb explaining it because it doesn't really make any sense from a programming perspective.
Anyways, keep up the good work. I'd like to see this X run the most.
Why, yes, it is. Another invincible stage, at least until you hit the first door. The later area with icy slopes just before Dual Cells doesn't work because the ice doesn't extend to the edges, but you don't really need it there.
EDIT: Maybe the Ensuizan animation turns on invincibility at the beginning and turns it off on the last frame, but the last frame doesn't show up for the ground-based version until you actually touch the ground, but switching to a different animation mid-way cancels the Ensuizan animation, which is only possible mid-air during a ground Ensuizan?
EDIT 2: OK, there has to be something slightly wrong with my theory, because I've found that for the first few frames after doing an Ensuizan you aren't invincible. One other interesting fact is that Guard Shell won't turn on during Ensuizan, but if you go back to the menu and press Start to exit, the Guard Shell will come up.
I must admit this glitch is a bit extreme. In fact, so much so that I began to fear rejection because of it. Is there any precedents for a glitch like this, aside from the "infinite health door" in Half-Life, which isn't exactly like that?
Other than that, I'm happy that there's finally a way to get to Dual Cells without fearing for extra hits in the shaft. I've always hated that shaft.
Is doing a slide invincibility hard? It's past middle point at that point in my run, so I'd hate to fail that more than once.
With a ramp it's easy. Just stop moving while you are on the downslope and let the momentum carry you over the edge, doing an Ensuizan at the last second. Without a ramp requires a little more precision because the ice doesn't completely work logically. You have to jump towards the edge, land, and slide off the edge doing the Ensuizan. I might make a video of how to do it in all the places that I've found.
Another one that I realized after making the video, but haven't tested yet: Ensuizan on a platform right before Gate destroys it for invincibility for the rest of the fight.
All this does make it seem like a completely different, much less challenging, game, though. We've got instant boss kill bugs and invincibility bugs. I'm almost convinced that there is some way to trigger invincibility without relying on all these weird conditions, if we can just find some way to interrupt the Ensuizan animation.
EDIT: Invincibility on Gate confirmed. If you can trigger it you can kill him a lot faster because you can just stand on top of him, eliminating the travel time for him and his orbs. The best way I found to do it is to use the bottom center platform and the far right platform. Stand in the center of the center platform or the left side of the right platform and briefly stop on the platform between them when Gate moves between your two positions. If he breaks the platform, Ensuizan. Keep in mind the the platform still exists as it fades out, so time it for that, rather than the attack.
I'm planning on getting the armor on my first pass through the stage, and then getting the rest of the stuff behind the spikes on the second pass, so I'll only have to air dash between the spikes to and from the armor. The problem is that I haven't found a smooth way to get invincibility while still maintaining speed. If you go under the first appearing platform and cling to the right side, the platforms don't sync up right to push you off the other one. If you don't go under it, there is an extremely small window (which I have yet to hit) to air dash to the second appearing platform, jump straight up, taking out the bats, then land on top of the second platform. Otherwise I have to wait for the platforms to cycle again. I'll also miss the reploid there if I do that on both passes, and X can't get that reploid without dying, so I need to have Zero for the first and second pass. So it's back to Sheldon to get Zero still.
The second pass on Wolfang will be with Zero, because no suicide is neccasary now to do that.
So my route is pretty much the same, except that the only stages I'll be using X for will be the intro stage, Sheldon first pass, Heatnix and probably Gate 1.
Cauldrath, have you really tried getting the reploid a lot without dying, or did you just throw that based on what *should* be possible? I'm almost sure you can get that reploid by hanging to the pole until the very last moment (during which you just might be able to grab the reploid), then jump to safety. It's a long shot, but I think it should be possible to perform. Also, I don't think getting through the 1st and 2nd appearing poles is possible... I got a close call, but I got squeezed between them and fell. Also, the mechanics for pressing between objects is very unforgiving and unfair, so I doubt it is possible to get through them, even if it looks like it.
I did a few route changes. I'm going to get Zero from Mijinion's stage (since it's faster than Sheldon's), and do the Turtloid revisit last*. It's a bit risky because I'm doing Turtloid's stage two times with Zero, but meh. If I wanted it without risks I wouldn't have started running the game in the first place.
Secondly, I'm going to ascend the spikeshaft without taking damage, since I found a relatively good way to do that. Full health + an almost full sub tank vs. Dual Cells = WOOHOO!
*"Last" meaning the last one of the non-end stages, of course.
Cauldrath, have you really tried getting the reploid a lot without dying, or did you just throw that based on what *should* be possible?
To be honest, I haven't. I guess I should get to some testing. It's just harder for me to get motivated to do extensive testing with X, since I don't really like playing as him and I'm, honestly, not that good with him.

After hours of trying, I actually got through the poles a grand total of two times. Both times I was so surprised that I completely forgot to try to land properly and Ensuizan, and I wasn't paying enough attention to remember what I was doing differently those times. (Maybe that's the secret?) One other thing I found out about the spot is that you can't try to cling to the side of the pillar right after you Ensuizan off it or else it will "crush" you. It seems like you have crushing invincibility for a short while after triggering Ensuizan invincibility, which causes you to go through moving platforms. If you are inside the platform when it wears off, you get "crushed," canceling your Ensuizan invincibility in the process. Makes me wonder if you are immune to being crushed during an Ensuizan.
EDIT: Oh, and I looked at the verification topic and even though it said it was updated on the 10th, the last addition was on the 7th. I assume this is a MMX4 improvement?
